  1. The Stumbling block for carry permits here isnt necessarily the PD...the Carry permit has to be authorized by a Superior Court Judge initially, THAT is where the whole Political thing comes into play.
  2. Having the PATH station next door was convenient at times...there was more than once we "Deported" some of our problem children to NYC
  3. In my experience the Mugshots usually represent more closely the Actual person..it's AMAZING how sane they can look when they're made-up and all prettied for film and television.
  4. I Believe Arizona HAS the provision in the law for businesses to post the "No Weapons" signs..so any restaurant/Bar owners that DO feel that way would still be able to prohibit CCW..of course they would have the same problem as the place in Steamboat Springs, since once that sign goes up you open yourself up to people voting with their wallets.
  5. \ There is no magic number. This what matters is if they can show a "Pattern of Behavior" For instance, you bought 20 AR lowers when they were $99.00 each from say Elite Arms no worries, no limits as to how many you can purchase. NOW, 3 years later the panic is full blown and you sell off 10-15 of those recievers for $300.00 each. NOW you are acting as an unlicensed dealer as you are clearly selling those receivers to make a profit.
  6. Yeah because it's SUCH a pussy move to NOT Commit a crime after a perfectly good defensive shoot..... I have news for you, if someone shoots a home invader under legitimate circumstances even in MY county I dont see them getting charged...HOWEVER, once you decide to dick around and cover it up, what was a 100% legitimate act on your part now becomes "What wa he trying to hide, maybe it WASNT a good shoot after all".
  7. This I dont know of anyone it has ever happened to on the Non LEo side or any LEO who has done this on that side..it's always the printed story of "My Friend" or My Cousin" or my "Sister's Boyfriend" there are anti0gun cops, yes, but the majority of cops are either neutral or pro-gun for Joe Citizen.
  8. Thanks for what you do. Funny thing is, most of the people in this part of the country dont realize just how GOOD they have it. My Sister-in-law and BiL moved from New York City to Lancaster County Pa. He's a VA cop down in Baltimore, the house they bought is in an unincorporated town which is covered by PaSP. On routine non-emergent stuff it's anywhere from 30-45 minutes for them to get someone to the house. Ambulance is about 15-20 min as the local squad doesnt keep a crew on duty, they respond to the building and take the bus from there. Conversely, barring anything extreme, Our response time is under 5 minutes to most non-emergency calls, and generally much less to "Bad" things. People from up here move out to "The Country" and still expect services to stay the same way they are in the more suburban/urban areas.
  9. The law doesnt allow DRINKING while CCW, it allows a person who is carrying to enter an establishment, such as a Restaurant that serves alcohol. Think of it this way, in Az you could NOT CCW if you were going out to dinner with your wife if the restaurant even only served Wine, you could not go to a Friday's, Houlihan's, or Chili's type restaurant, EVEN IF YOU NEVER WENT NEAR THE BAR. This redaction to the law removes that prohibition, while retaining the one that says you cannot CCW if you are CONSUMING alcohol. I realize this. If practicality and common sense prevailed, there would be no need for discussion. Unfortunately, this country is full of jack-asses. All it takes is one person to become drunk and have a negligent discharge. The media would grossly exaggerate all details and citizens on the fence of 2d Amendment Rights might starting leaning towards the restriction of said rights. Certainly, I agree with tbtrout in that people should be held personally responsible for their f*ckups. But that's not the world we live in. The actions of one could affect an entire demographic. Not to be a Prick Ben but that is the EXACT same argument the antis use to keep CCW from being a reality here in NJ, and to fight 2A issues everywhere else. Put yourself in this situation. You are in Az with your Family on Vacation. You are carrying there because you had the forethought to get your Fl Nonresident CCW. The family goes into a Chain restaurant for dinner. To be on the good side of the law, you secure your weapon in your car. You are not drinking, nor did you intend to drink since you have your kids along and are driving. An Incident like Luby's in Tx happens, and it COULD have been stopped by someone like you, who did not drink or intend on drinking, but was disarmed because the establishment carried a Liquor License. Yeah there are stupid people out there, hell My profession has at least one or two a week in the spotlight because of terminally stupid things they do.... Should we do away with All police departments because of the small percentage of idiots who manage to pass the screening??
  10. Many years back we had a local who made Joyce look like a Playboy Bunny. This girl was great looking in her teens and 20's. then she got hooked on booze and drugs. Less then twenty years later she looked so bad no one wanted to get near her. She finally was killed when she tried to cross eight lanes of traffic drunk or high when a bus took her out. The sad part was that she came from a well to do family who tried everything to straighten her out. In the end they knew they couldn't help her and cut her off totally. Hmmm we had a couple of those as well...bet we BOTH probably know them since they had a tendency to migrate between our towns.
  11. You guys are the minority then, everyone else is always complaining that tehre are too many of us..especially after they get a summons . Seriously though Jersey City has around 800 Officers, Newark around IIRC 950 (Both departments are short) my Dept has 125 with a population of about 48K and a daytime population of around 100K. It's not physically possible for us to be everywhere at all times.. My apologies if i took the "They dont have a duty to Protect" thign the wrong way,m but it's used on that "Other" site a lot to hammer at us. What it really menas is that for example when we're working short handed with 3 cars on the road, who are handling 2 Domestics and a fatal MVA, and another domestic or robbery or what-have-you comes in, and we take time to get there, we can't be sued for not having someone available. We DO have a Duty to respond, it's in our oath, but we are just humans and cant be in 3 places at once.
  12. Behavior that results in this particular type of Photo is usually not condicuve to aging well Rich, as you of ALL people should know.... LOL from the TAKING of the mugshot's side, not starring in one that is.

  14. No, what the court Ruled is that a Police Depmartment cannot be sued for Failing to Protect an individual, unless that individual is in a "special Relationship" with that department, as in covered by a specific Protection Detail. The simple reality is that there are around 30,000 LEO's in the state of NJ, and THAT included on every level, State, County, Local, Corrections. There are physically not ENOUGH police to "Protect" everyone. Funny thing is the same people that trot out that old "The Police have no duty to protect you" Crap are the same ones who are always bitching that there are too many cops.
  15. All of them. I live in New Jersey where firearms are not needed, as the police are right around the corner to protect me. Umm Paul?? we IS da Police Brother...LOL About the on REALLY "Useless" gun i bought was one of those IMI Single-shot pistols in .22 Hornet, theone with the rotating Breech like a tank's.
  16. More than likely the "JCPD Spokesman" was some rookie or House-mouse that is the ONLY cop the newsie could get to talk to them... NOBODY i know of who actually does the job will even tell a reporter the time of day nevermind give any type of Opinion on or off the record. Maybe they asked a meter maid. Wouldnt surprise me, i know the Jerky Journal has a hard time differentiating between Parking Authority Jagoffs and JCPD when it comes to their stories.

  18. Dropped off my request for 6 permits yesterday.
  19. CJRPC member here for the last 4, and i';ve been shooting Cowboy there for 7
  20. The signs only arrived in the last couple of months rich Like I said the process for them has been going on for 3 years. Right now we're waiting on the final bid on a boat through DHS funds matching..THAT one has been going on for about 4 years now. if people realized just HOW much Homeland Security money has been suitting around UNspent they'd be livid... meanwhile departments cant get the equipment they need.
  21. You mean a certain number of permits for him to sign on his desk? So basically rather then sign a couple per day these guys will wait till the stack reaches 20 then sit down and sign them all. Doesnt matter if it takes an hour or a week, he wont sign till he has 20?? Thats is ubserd(sp?) if that is the case. Please tell me I am miss understanding your statement. -Scott nope you are not misunderstanding one of my old chiefs did it that way he wouldnt do permits unless he had at least 10 waiting to go. The guy BEFORE him was the best, he gave the BCI guys who handled the firearms stuff a stamp with is signature on it, as soon as the paperwork came back from the mental health check you got your permits, the only thing that chief signed himself were FID cards, and that was usuall Walki in, he signed, walk out and call the applicant to come pick up the cards.
  22. There are Chiefs who wont Sign permits unless there are a certain number of them ready.
  23. Hmmm looks like im gonna have to go see my PD on Monday. Speaking of which, I'm STILL trying on working to get an afternoon free to head down there Paul...Now you know why I did it the way i did..LOL
  24. DHS Rich, every municipality in the county except for E Newark got at LEAST one, along with a couple of those Construction sight Light trailers a few years ago. Cant say im unhappy about it, since we've used both the sign and the lights a LOT since they were delivered. Hell we ended up using the Trailer to power one of our Stations when some jackass took out the poles in front of the county jail.
  25. It's all federal money out of Homeland Security under the OEM banner that has been in the pipeline for about 3 YEARS and the signs were all delivered about 6 months ago. The state other then administratively through State OEM really wasnt involved in this one..which is why we actually got what we were promised for a change.
