  1. The walmart price is $20.97 per box of 100rounds Winchester, plus PA tax (6%). It works out to 22c per round. Seems pretty good to me. I haven't seen the same box for less than $32.00 in NJ. Getting it delivered for the same price seems like a good deal to me. Is that all in? I imagine delivery would be expensive because of the weight. Best. G
  2. Yes. And yes. I gotmy sixboxes in Bristol and another six in Fairless hills. Each had a ton. Thirty plus boxes and loads of forty, too. Easton is a large store. Bethlehem had none. Didn't check Allentown. Goodluck!!
  3. FYI. The following penna walmarts have nine mm WWB: Bristol Fairless Hills (aka Tullytown) Hatfield (near Doylestown) Easton drive carefully!! Best G
  4. Hi. I live in East Brunswick and yes, too close to home. I also read about one in nearby sleepy lil Milltown ("A Friendly Community").. Two armed guys detained and tied up the family and turned their house over. Milltown has a huge resident police officer population. There's no escape from this anywhere. I'm almost seriously thinking about carrying my PPS while in the house. It's extremely concerning. Time those f@&$@&s in Trenton made some gun control legislation that gave the police power to search for guns on the street or at least required enforcement of existing laws instead of dropping feelgood shit on the heads of legal gun owners. My heart goes out to the victims of these attacks, it really does. G
  5. Yes... Topgun. Don't waste time looking elsewhere happy shooting. G
  6. *nods* - I agree - the two places are differnt - the stock and so on is better at SS, the range itself is better at BA.... pay and choose, people. Personally I wish one of them would relocate to m'sex.
  7. "Lucky's Cafe" in Milltown (08850) on the corner of Main St and Clay is a great place. The coffee and other drinks are very good and they always have at least one delicious cake. If you're lucky, it'll be the lemon bunt cake .... yum! They open in the afternoon and evenings, Tue., Wed., Thur. and Fri. I live just round the corner actually so if there's anyone local, let's meet there. Best. G
  8. hi ther eCHiroDoc Actually I'll be at that class on Saturday, too - it'll be good to meet a fellow member. I'm not saying people SHOULDN"T use members' services whenever possible, and I thought I was clear about my opinion of GFH. However, timing, and location, may vary for different people..... best G
  9. An NRA "master trainer", Joe Westfield, will be running the NRA pistol instructor course soon, in the Yardville area (Central NJ). I will be taking the course and wondered if anyone else would be interested. The dates are: November 29th and December 13th, 19th & 20th. Breakfast and lunch are provided and the fee for the whole course is $125.00, including materials, testing and certification. I don't want to post his phone number etc here, but please PM me if you're interested and I'll put you in direct contact with him. I'm not in the middle here, just passing on the info. I known that one of our sponsors, "GunforHire" also runs a comprehensive range of NRA and other courses. You should look there, too. I've had training from both Joe (First Steps Pistol) and Anthony at GFH (Defense inside the home), and can say that both offer excellent training. Many thanks and happy shooting. G
  10. Where / what is the Carteret club, please? Thx. G
  11. ....and I'd look into going on a dedicated course for FL ccw. Gunforhire and others run them regularly. It can be a pita getting prints and so on otherwise. Regarding the NRA courses, most ccw states accept even the "First steps" certificate (CT needs the full 10 hr "BAsic Pistol"). However, the NRA also offers a "firearms safety in the home" course. I'd be surprise if FL took this because there isn't any live fire requirement to pass it (I think). Finally, it's likely worth thinking about where you might use this permit and what the quirks burps and gurgles of that state (eg PA) are. Thing to pay attention to are carrying in a car, bars and restaurants, and govt buildings, schools etc Best G
  12. I'm in LinkedIn. it DOES make a difference...
  13. Hi. I'm in theprocess of deciding about Old Bridge, too. I think it'll be ok and ilike all the activities they run, but I agree it's expensive inthe first year especially. There seems to be a lot of formality also, but it obviously works and they have aa great relationship with their neighbours. I am a full member atPhillipsburgh up rt78 and I like its small club atmosphere. They have indoor and outdoor to 25 yds. I'm also a member at Shore Shot down in Lakewood. Brick armoury is also down there and a lot of the forum people like it there too. G
  14. Weell........ I feel your pain, but honestly just forget the thirty day thing a d sleep easier. I've had minimal hassle out of the East Brunswick guys, other than their awkward hours that take no account of minor things in the publics lives. You know, like thei jobs. The permits will arrive in the "fullness of time" lol. Mine did. Aroundsix weeks I think best and happy shooting. Where are you a membe of? G
  15. I just wanted to say I had great service at Shore Shot last night They adjusted the sights on my 239 and replaced the take down lever on my 226. Both in minutes on the spot and at no charge. Thanks guys!! G
  16. Hi everyone. I'm curious as to why certain states have become popular for NJ residents to use for CCW permits and some not. In particular, is there a reaspn why people don't apply to Texas, which appears to be a 'shall issue to non-residents" state? It has reciprocity wih almost 30 states, I think... many thanks and happy shooting G
  17. get the Jetta. The milage alone (40-50 mpg) will mitigate the costs significantly. Like subarus, VWs are hugely robust and reliable. If you look after it, the jetta will take you to 120,000 miles easily. get the jetts
  18. nanny?? I'm in for a bodyguard.....
  19. Hi - I'm sure people have seen these before, but I thought it would be nice to put a few of them together in the one place. Mods - please feel free to trash this if it's not in the right place, or not appropriate for the board. Happy Shooting G http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCezcAHXxRY&NR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujhwzuB1liQ and of course the iconic Captain Kirk...
  20. REALLY??? you're KIDDING. F@@k. thanks can you tell me anything about the club, please?
  21. I live in East Brunswick I have obtained an FPID together with two Pistol Permits and later, a further three Pistol Permits. So what is the experience? Good and Bad. Paperwork is obtained from the Public Safety Office, which is in the same building as the Police Station and in fact, the two offices are physically joined behind the scenes. The ladies who man the office aren't terribly pro gun. One of them said to me "oh not MORE people wanting guns" the time I went. The office is open from (about) 09.30 to (about) 15.30. In other words you need to take time off work to go get them and to deliver them. You need to go for fingerprints also during the daytime - as far as I remember there's no evening or weekend times available for either part of the process. The detective who took my fingerprints was pleasant and efficient and quite pro. Once everything is handed in, the process took about seven or eight weeks for me to get the letter saying that my FPID and Permits were available. They wrote to my referees and followed up with a phone call to them. Again, you have to go back during the day (no evenings or weekends) to collect them from the Public Safety Office. Getting the three further permits about six months later was similar, without the fingerprints. That took about four weeks. They didn't recontact my referees. Now - three comments: (i) I am not a citizen so as part of the vetting process they took extra prints and my parents' birth and address details, and contacted InterPol, so it may have taken longer. (ii) I don't know if they will go through the whole process to change the address on an existing FPID card, but I expect that they will. (iii) There are a number of other townships around EB that you may also consider - Milltown, South River, Sayerville, Spotswood, OldBridge. You might check them out also. However if you have kids and schools are important, forget any of them except EB - it is far far better than any of the others. Other Comments: Milltown has an aggressive 25mph speed limit. Don't say you weren't warned. The nearest "gun hangout" place is Sayerville Sportsman on Rt 535 - a number of the cops hang there, including some from EB. It's 1hr to either Shoreshot, Brick Armory, the Bullethole or Phillipsburgh - each range has its plusses and minuses. There's a range at exit 12 on the turnpike I hear, but I don't know where. There's one at Old Bridge and in Jackson, but they are expensive to join I think. So - that's about it - EB is a pretty OK town - permits seem to be granted quite quickly. However, it isn't as pro or friendly as Hamilton, say. Happy shooting G
  22. Hi - I've been followin this thread and course too, from independent contact with KenA. I have a question. I have one notatised copy of a training certificate, from the Utah course I had a few weeks ago. DO I need a second one? Or how do I satisfy the requirements for both applications? Looking forward to the course Grant
