  1. In NJ she's at the least without a car. At the worst dead or raped then killed or beaten, raped and killed or killed while being beaten while being raped or perhaps beaten, killed then raped, any way your stretch it, life would have been worse for her had she not had a weapon. Society was not diminished. ----------- http://www.abcactionnews.com/news/local ... yQP_w.cspx Reported by: Keith Baker Email: [email protected] Reported by: Cary Williams Last Update: 5/15 4:12 pm TAMPA, FL -- A Tampa woman refused to be a carjacking victim when she was approached by an armed man who jumped into her car on Thursday. The woman, who only wants to be identified as Adrianna, pulled out her own gun. "I just leaned forward and punched him in the forehead with my gun," she said. The man "screamed like a girl and almost dropped his gun" as he ran away, she added. Tampa Police have arrested one suspect so far in what they see as a pattern of carjackings. A-Keem Carr was arrested on related charges, but two others are believed to be preying on motorists in the Westshore area. So far, two carjackings and four attempted carjackings have occurred over the last two weeks. In one case, a man from Land O' Lakes was pumping gas when an armed suspect approached demanding the car keys. The man refused because his 6-month-old son was still in his car seat and the suspect took off. Another incident involved a woman who was closing her business when she was approached by an armed man who took her van. Her credit cards were used at a business in St. Petersburg and the van was found later along 39th Street in St. Petersburg. A. Keem Carr was charged in that crime. Other carjacking attempts included a woman standing next to her car in the Regency Apartments when she was approached but she screamed and scared off the bandit. Adrianna was pulling into the International Mall when the armed man jumped in her car. She talked about defending herself. "I didn't want to have to shoot...anyway over a car. But if it was going to be him or me..." Tampa Police warn the suspects are becoming more aggressive and may be prone to violence.
  2. There is already and it was one of the first. You do not have a duty to retreat inside your home. Outside, you do. It's not as strong as other states and is stronger than some. It's clearly better than nothing.
  3. Must be that smokeless powder. heh. Back in the 70s, my now step dad had just gone through a divorce and moved into an old old falling down house. I had known him before the divorce and usually spent a few weeks during the summer break there hunting, fishing, shooting, whatever. This was back in Ohio. This house was owned by the biggest farmer in the county, it was where the farmer grew up and was next to an area he planted. No one lived in it and when my future step dad needed a place, he offered it for $50/month as long as he wanted to live in it. It was coming down when he left. There were guns always laying around the house as my SD was a Marine in Vietnam and was into guns. He later become a gun dealer but that's another story. So I'm sitting there eating a bowl of cereal and around the corner in the "living room" I hear "Bang...Bang...bang". Scared the crap out of me. Turns out my SD was on a seek and destroy mission for mice. LOL. He had a 22 magnum revolver with shot in it and would shoot the little bastards whenever they ran across the floor. ROFL. Three shots, two kills and he winged another one who subsequently crawled into the wall to die and stink for a few weeks. We still talk about that when I go back to visit.
  4. What is he firing in that to make the slide operate?
  5. For target shooting at 300 yards, anything less than 18x and you really won't be happy. As for targets...get big ones.
  6. Still working on getting the house ready to paint...I grill all the time, tomorrow will be normal. I'm going to try to get some range time in. I couldn't get down there today, just too much to do.
  7. I would take a look at both PDs, if he's moving into say, Jersey City, get it now. If he's moving OUT of Jersey City, wait. Clifton is also a bad one for Issuing FIDs. Vernon is 3.5/4 months...do some research, get it at the quicker place. Some towns seem to get it done pretty quick, I wish my town was that way. :?
  8. Nothing like a whole barrel full of water to shoot through
  9. Get there early and take a pen, I know a guy that went first week in March and the place was packed. Apparently all those guns being bought recently are looking for a place to shoot. You should probably plan on buying a target frame for $25 and get some breech flags(buck or two each) if you don't have them. Make sure you check the box that says "I wish to transfer my firearms at the range" on the form. I think that check might help protect you if any fed with a hard-on shows up trying to entrap folks. Shrug.
  10. It is dirty and weak ammo. It will usually work just fine in older weapons with weaker springs. Not so good for a break-in period. I've got 500 rounds of it, if I can get down to the range tomorrow I'll run 100 rounds of it. Remington Ammo as a whole sucks as far as I'm concerned. Remington Golden Bullet 22 rimfire has to be the worst.
  11. Hi, welcome. I'm a lefty but I shoot with both. For this reason, I fell in love with the HK P30. It has ambidextrous slide release, mag release and decocker. It also FEELS amazing to hold plus you can change the side panels and backstrap to fit your hand. It's very reliable and has an accessory rail in front of the trigger guard. You can see some pictures of mine here(the HK pics): http://thewellrats.com/malbor2/guns/ There's a few reasons I don't like Glocks, one being the fact that there is no hammer to cock. The only way to cock a glock is to rack the slide. The only way to uncock it is to pull the trigger. There's a reason there are so many negligent discharges with Glocks. It's a combat pistol and is not forgiving. To disassemble, you have to uncock it...pull trigger. I'm not saying they aren't fine weapons, they are. I'm saying it's not a beginner firearm. The CZs are inexpensive and reliable, but I've heard they have a brittle firing pin that can break if dry fired too much. I went to the gun store to buy a Sig p226 and bought the HK P30. The Sigs are great guns too and probably have the best weight because they aren't composite. If I didn't have my HK, I'd have the Sig. I'll also say, you're first hand gun is like your first girl. You want a quickie in the back seat of a 72 Pinto next to the Parsippany dump with the pimply faced homly broad from down the street or would you rather class it up a bit and make it worth while? I don't know about you but I'd rather take the pain and spend a few hundred bucks more out of the gate. Well take care of handguns really don't lose much of their value so you'll be able to turn around a nice weapon if it ever came to it. good luck with whatever you buy. Be sure to post pictures.
  12. I read it...it's an hour drive for me to get down there.
  13. Did they say this guy lived elsewhere at any point? I owned guns in NJ without a FID for 13 years...I purchased them before I moved here.
  14. At this time, I can go to Davis shooting and buy 9mm for $15/box + tax or Meltzers(near where I work, convenient) for $20/box. With that in mind, I need to beat those prices before I buy it online. I really want to find some WWB or something at the $10ish/50 price. I guess those days are gone. I used to help my step dad reload back in the day and that'd be the answer if primers were available. I want practice shooting my HK. I used to shoot nearly every week before I moved to NJ 13 years ago. I moved here, got new jobs and only thought about guns when I went back to visit and hunt. The problem is, I can pop off 200 rounds of 9mm an hour at a casual pace, it really sucks.
  15. I noticed a whole bunch of 9mm came in stock at Natchez and all of it was $20/box or more. They were selling ammo out so fast someone finally decided to start gouging. Now they'll have stock but it'll be too expensive.
  16. I think she's guilty. Not sure of what, but damn is she guilty.
  17. Do you suppose that the picture of him holding the USC with what appears to be a large cap mag in it, have anything to do with his arrest? I don't know what the standard mags are for those...might be NJ legal.
  18. I stopped by Meltzers today and bought 100 rounds of 9mm($20/ea ouch!). The story would probably read "Man pulled over on highway stop, found to have hundreds of rounds of powerful ammunition in his vehicle" Assault rifles are full automatic...these in this story are likely to just be mis-labeled semi-automatic rifles that look scary.
  19. I'm up on the hill in Highland Lakes. We're at opposite ends of the township far as I can tell. I'm Mark but I also go by Mal...as in MMMM AL, not as in Mall. I don't figure anyone knows me. Might have seen my truck around though. http://thewellrats.com/malbor2/axiom/axiomtires.jpg
  20. I prefer the mini...as seen here:
  21. Weird. I turned off noscript and admuncher to see what the site does...it still didn't work. It only worked in IE. It's a javascript applet so one would think it would work, but once I unbuttoned everything it still didn't. Go figure. In my world, IE is a security hole not a browser. I have several hundred machines that I'm responsible for and IE is locked down so tight, it can open 1 website. Windows Update.
  22. This is a great. I intended to get my Florida CCW in the near future next time ANJRPC does the roadshow and I'm planning a trip out west this year and next. The credit card bill is good on some levels. Universal Default is criminal and needed outlawed. That it's been allowed for this long is ridiculous.
  23. Doesn't work with Firefox. I've foiled the FBI Muwhahahaha
