  1. I see the note on Shoreshot's site. Will some NJ FFL speak up and clarify this? I just checked the NJ State web site and the law still reads "i.Restriction on number of firearms person may purchase. Only one handgun shall be purchased or delivered on each permit and no more than one handgun shall be purchased within any 30-day period, but this limitation shall not apply to:". Grace period for who and what? We need to see this State police guideline. If that was his reason he should have said so and I may have gone along with it provided he could show me the official document where the State Police made their own law. Additionally the FFL I have arranged to take Stout's place had no qualms about transferring my gun on the 31st day. I did tell him my recent problem with Leroy Stout also.
  2. Mr. Stout was not pushed very hard. He could have retained my business if he was civil. I asked what do you mean a couple of days to be safe? Is it one in thirty days or not? I assured him the eleventh of August would be thirty one days since my last transfer. He responded "you're not listening I want to wait a couple extra days!". That is when I said "I don't want to wait, I'll have to use someone else for this one." The next sound was him saying "f..k you then". Yeah, very polite gentleman. He was until now.
  3. As I said, I've recommended Stout many times in the past. Red flag? We have acquaintances in common. I was referred to him three years ago by a long time customer of his. On my last visit we did the paperwork and chatted for 20 minutes or so, while he showed off an antique pistol he just acquired. He knows me from past transactions. The last time I transferred a firearm through him, I had to call him and ask about doing the transaction. I followed the tracking from UPS and he made believe he didn't know it was delivered. That said, I had no reason not to plan my next transfer to be with him. As far as "extra cautious", it's not too hard to count thirty days and know it is legal for me to pick up another gun.
  4. I have had four firearms shipped to and transferred by Mr. Stout in the past two years. Always good service. Today I called Mr. Stout to arrange a handgun transfer and he asked when was the last purchase. OK. I reminded him he handled the transfer on July 11, 2011. The gun should arrive here in NJ on Thursday or Friday and Thursday will thirty one days. Mr. Stout insists that we wait a "couple extra days to be safe". I say the eleventh is 31 days it is safe to do it then. He repeats must wait a couple extra days. I said I want to pick it up as soon as it is legal. He repeats must wait extra days. I say I will have to arrange for a different FFL. He says "Well f... you then." and hangs up the phone. I take back my recommendations. I will never call him again!
  5. Hi, The Sig P238 is a dream to shoot!!! Zero malfunctions ever! A well made very good looking gun. Here is mine.
  6. I have found a USPS money order is usually treated as cash by most sellers. Banks will clear funds overnight when deposited so no delay in shipping your goods. Always send the payment with delivery verification and tracking. I will not send payment to a PO box. Insist on tracking numbers from the seller also. I have no experience with escrow services.
  7. Just a couple of things. Certainly not a complete list. Pictures, pictures, pictures make sure it is what you think it is. Reputation of seller. Has seller been on forum for any length of time and is it obvious from other posters that he is known and OK. Search seller's other posts and read what you can from them. Ask for references. The seller needs no references from you in most cases. Seller will wait until your money is in his hand before shipping. I've often thought why can't they ship it and I'll pay after I receive it???????? Always the seller is in control. Is the seller overly shy or protective of their actual location or name. Speak on the phone if possible. If not too far, go meet face to face even if it's a handgun and you still have to have it transferred. I have traveled as much as 400 miles to look at a gun. Especially if it's a one of a kind or very hard to find. If it sounds too good to be true................well it probably isn't true. YMMV Good luck.
  8. I have to chime in here. I have been browsing at Cheyenne Mountain Outfitters since they opened. And, Harry's before that before some of you were born. The store is only 10 or 15 minutes away from my home and business. I have never bought anything over $40.00 there and never treated poorly. I have fondled many a firearm there and never bought. If they are busy and I know I'm not in the market to buy, I will tell salesperson to "go ahead see what they want". The last time I was there the owner waited on me and showed me at least 8 different handguns. He was very friendly. I have never dealt with Omar. If he is the guy I think he is I won't. He is obnoxious. Everyone else has always been helpful and friendly. Sportsman's Center is another story. Fritz is a good guy and I would deal with him if possible. I went there a couple of years ago with permit and cash to buy a Kimber Eclipse and walked out with the permit and cash still in my pocket even though I went there because they had the gun. Asshole behind the counter that day. I swore off for a year and a half and recently went back and was treated OK but they don't have much to offer.
  9. No one mocked you! I sincerely think you should consider the possibility of needing to defend yourself or loved ones in your home. I will add to what I wrote. You need a safe of some sort for when you are not at home. The type and size is dependent on what you're going to put in it. Also you might want to consider future needs. The previous three posts went up while I was writing this one.
  10. I sure would hate to be saying to myself, "Damn, these thugs are going to kill me! I wish my gun wasn't locked up in the safe at the bottom of the closet." I used to keep weapons locked in a safe until I had the thought it sure would piss me off to have a need for one and not be able to access it. If you have a weapon learn to use it and keep it handy just in case. This is the real world and it is not safe all the time. Do a search on home invasions.
  11. LeRoy is great! I have used him for several transfers. $25.00 + 15.00 plus tax $42.80. Easy to get to and has some interesting old rifles in the rafters too. Nice man. Jim
  12. Hey, I've been looking at Sig pistols and noticed all new Sig firearms have a paper band around the grip or stock. I've seen Blue & White, Red & White and Silver/Grey and White. Does anybody know the significance of the different colors?? New, refurbished, Certified preowned???????? Or meaningless?? I'm curious. Thanks Jim
  13. Snip: The gun never entered into it. Once we got inside, I stowed the gun after we called the police. She, whether by design or the fact that she was in shock, never said anything to the officer's and it really was irrelevant. so I didn't mention it . Adios, Pizza Bob Very smart not to mention it! Lucky you weren't in Ewing. If the police that arrived were the same ones I encountered last week you'd be in a different mood at this point. My experience with some of the Ewing officers is downright scary. They do not know the laws and I believe are very much against citizens having firearms. I won't go into detail here, but suffice to say the Ewing police that responded to my call treated me more like the bad guy than the bad guys. There were 4 in my front office questioning me, two not too bad, one Sgt. total (censored) one half (censored). It's been a week and a half and I'm still pretty upset about my treatment. I'm glad you were the one to respond to the lady, GOOD JOB!
  14. I am very happy to belong to CJRPC! I think it is the best. It is cheap if you shoot. I figure my cost last year was less than $5.00 per visit. 25 and 50 yard pistol range. 200 yard rifle range. (target stand holders at 50, 100, 150 and 200 yards) 300 yard rifle range. (target stand holders at 50 yard intervals also) 5 skeet and trap fields. Indoor pistol range. (24 hour use) 6-7 multipurpose ranges. (will be more) archery range.
  15. Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club is the best... With very little effort I reduced my dues to $150.00 and $100.00 the past two years. I expect to pay no more than $100.00 for next year also. With a little effort Your dues could be ZERO. :icon_exclaim: Your first year is as bad as it gets. To join this April you will need $400.00 up front and then make four quarterly payments of $50.00. During the year, ten hours volunteer work will get you $50.00 off next year's dues. For every new member you refer you will get $50.00 off next year's dues. Attend a measly four meetings and you get $50.00 off next year's dues. Anyone that would like to sample the club can contact me or just about any member and they would be happy to show you around. They will earn a $50.00 discount if you sign up.
  16. Good luck with that in Mercer County. I doubt any municipality in Mercer allows it except for legal hunting in season.
  17. Well, I chickened out after talking to them three times. I had my credit card out to read the number but 10 minutes into the girl trying to input my info and order I bailed out. They had some good prices but if she was an indicator of competence, they may never have got my order to me. I'm not real sure they had it in stock anyway. Ended up with a deal off Gunbroker with a seller that has over 8000 happy customers. And ordered the rest of what I wanted from Midway. I know that will arrive here.
  18. Not buying ammo. Looking for a scope and they have one I am interested in at the lowest price I've seen so far. I just checked and they are listed as authorized dealer on manufacturers web site. I am not quite ready to buy but will in the next few days. So, I thought I'd ask for input on the vendor. Thanks.
  19. Anyone have experience with this vendor? They have what I want at a very good price but????????? Thank you.
  20. For a low price try Tanner's Sport Center in Jamison PA. They have Sig 556 Classics on gun broker for $850.00. Minus diopter sight. And, some work will be needed to make it NJ compliant. YMMV HTH
  21. Seems to be a CVS thing. I ran into the same problem buying MO for permits. CVS was on the way to PD. Asked for driver's license and I offered to show it but told her she could not record the info. Not acceptable, so I walked out. Supermarket next door was only too happy to sell money orders with only greenbacks for ID. I won't buy from stores that require ID for cash purchase! By the way, this admission of buying money orders does not necessarily mean I bought guns or plan to buy guns. Heaven forbid!
  22. That's one model you can try before buying!
