  1. Got 400+ rds M2 ball ammo with the rifle. Going to reload.
  2. 1st 3 digits are 304 (7 digit serial #)
  3. I have seen their AD's in gun mags and I always wondered how their prices seemed so competitive! Bad apples
  4. Look up my marketplace post Taurus PT940
  5. Yes, crown and a VAR stamp! Further to the front, there is another crown with what looks like a DK under it ... DK for Denmark? I will take a close up pic.
  6. Comes w/ a Bayonet, my 11 yo is keeping it next to her bed ... Next up, tomorrow going to see Wolfy's M1A at BA. Help!
  7. Come to think of it, could be Danish and I heard it wrong ...
  8. I agree, one of the best looking is the 92 in SS w/ satin finish. I think I saw it at TJ's - gorgeous!
  9. Picked up from axeman_g (Gerry) today. It's a Springfield 1943 (probably seen action!), Finnish Danish re-barreled. Below are pics Gerry sent me. I will take few more pics and post. I will try it out tomorrow at BA, got a bunch of bandoleers and ammo boxes (ball ammo - lake city, etc.) I love the stock (few minor scratches), it's refinished by previous owner. The metal looks good too, minor scratches. Overall a beautiful rifle. Even my 11 yo daughter said she likes the "looks" of it!! Lately, she has seen me bringing in new/old guns in a parade and she is wondering how many guns I have! Here you go, and don't drool ...
  10. Ok, guys, let me know if you have plans for skeet any day starting Thursday! I will go and buy some #71/2 / 8 / 9 today ...
  11. I will ride with you ... Can we make plans for this long weekend? I am off Thursday and Friday as well! Woo Hoo:icon_e_biggrin:
  12. Are your eyes LASIK'ed? If so, I would like to talk to you ...
  13. Agreed that we can't focus at three depths simultaneously (front and rear sight, and target) ... I am referring to the ability to properly "align" the front and rear sight on the target. Due to extra fuzziness (introduced by) looking through the far sight (top) part of the bi-focal, I effectively loose the near sight clarity completely - hence the issue. People like us who wore glasses all their life have never "seen" what true 20/20 (or better) eyes are capable of seeing, especially rapidly adjusting the focus to near, mid, far ... we can only imagine! I believe I have Varilux line-less polycarbonate lenses, but let me see what the optometrist can do for shooting sports ...
  14. No line, but that's for cosmetics ... I will look up panoramic bifocals.
  15. Recently, I got my bi-focals (unfortunately, runs in the family) and I am having a hard time focusing on the front and rear rifle sights. This is mostly an issue with iron sights, less of an issue with a scope. Those that have bi-focals know that the glasses have a top and bottom portion - top for far sight and bottom for near sight. This is not much of an issue with handguns since the handgun's front and rear sights (both) are further away and I can use the top portion of my glasses. It's almost impossible for me to use the bottom portion of the glasses when using a rifle ... so, I end up using the top portion exclusively. Now, if I "focus" on the front sight and target, the rear sight is completely blurred ==> results in bad (guessed) alignment to target. At 25 yards, for example with a Mosin, the best I can do is be within 3-6" circle on the target ... In recent rifleman mag I came across this. I am thinking this might help with the problem above, but then again it needs to be tried out ... anyone has experience? Apparently, NASA astronauts are using these per WSJ? The only other solution is laser eye surgery (aka, LASIK and advanced variants). I may yet go do this ...
  16. Females shouldn't be stereotyped this way. Biologically and fundamentally, male and female are different (chromosomes aligned differently), but to me they just happen to have different sex is all. (For example, there are dim witted men and women in probably equal proportion!). Life experiences make a person, but there is nothing that tells me guys and gals are any different when it comes to firearms (at the most base level, not evolutionary). Awareness of what's going on in the world (call it education, whatever) plays a major role in what makes a person. Ignorance is bliss and can be detrimental ... My wife as an example is well educated and when we got married she didn't have any experience w/ guns at all. Now she is as passionate about guns as me. Yes, I did bring her into my camp, but it wasn't forced. She will not hesitate to kill anyone who will attempt to harm our family. That's my girl! Similarly, my mother had never handled a gun (my father owned few), but she was fully in support of me owning guns. All she said was, don't kill a helpless animal, kill the bad guys and protect your family and friends. So, to this day I haven't gone hunting. I don't know if I ever will or not or what animals I might shoot... I know I will shoot a snake, but only if it's likely to bite me! but that's just me. I hate people who kill an elephant, such a lumbering but majestic animal - is that a challenge? I think not. But I digressed, back to topic ...
  17. No, he needs to have several companions from many parts of the world! Ted: please note, comma's are needed in a sentence at various places ... don't be lazy!
  18. Cool pics! When you say max load, can you clarify, as in what's known to be typical manufacturer load vs. what you loaded? Please specify bullet weight and powder grains. Also, curious to know how you determined what's safe for the gun? Incrementally, till the gun blew up!? (kidding) more likely research ...
  19. Not to jack the thread ... Dude, you got a BMW R12!? We got to meet up! I have a FJR1300 and a FZ1.
  20. SORRY, can't make it today. Ignore message below. I will need some help getting to this place ... I am using google maps to see how to get to Sparta, NJ (1 hour 15mins). I am not familiar with that area at all. What street address should I plug in to get me close by? Then I can jot down the directions from the other thread. Please PM me with your phone #s so I can call if I get lost! Since we are meeting at 1pm, I will leave home at 11:30am. Question about shot size. I will be bringing Remington 1100 with 28" barrel, has a multi-choke on it. I have never used it for skeet, just used it at an indoor range when I bought it used. I have tried skeet about 8 rounds, so I am a noob at this and so far I have sucked:icon_redface: so no laughing! I haveabout 95 rounds #6 load shot shells, but I think that may not be a good shot size for skeet. I used #7.5 when I was in MN trying out skeet. What size would you guys suggest for the Remington 1100 with 28" barrel? I haven't had a chance to pattern it using various load sizes. I will go to Dick's tomorrow if they have the size you will recommend, but if they don't have it, I would have to to buy from you ... so bring extra shells.
