  1. Actually, I could have saved you some money and stored all that ammo for you....no charge, really...that's the kind of guy I am.... Nice statsh...what's your address again?
  2. Yes it does. I almost had the "double score"! Someone just bought the last two bricks of .22 for $13.97 a box...oh well, I am happy with 9MM at that price! I have not bought at that price since November.
  3. 9MM Bensalem,PA $8.97 a box for Blazer BRASS! 6 bag limit....they had about 20 left as of 1:00 PM
  4. Thanks, Dan! My gosh I am glad I found this forum....I thought everyone in NJ was a bunch of gun hating, obnoxious morons! I am amazed by the posters on this site willing to help each other...AWESOME! Maybe it's just the liberals..
  5. Beretta actually lists not to dry fire in their manuals, but you have ex military that swear they have dry fired their M9's thousands of times in practice.. It's one of those things where I would rather not find out if something would happen, and use snap caps as cheap insurance. Besides the fact that it's good to be able to cycle the gun and see how everything feeds and ejects. I have been dry firing my 92FS....you're saying it's not recommended? I bought this used and did not get a manual....
  6. I have the same cabinet and a small safe for my handguns. BTW, when I bought both cabinets at Dick's there was no sales tax...weird?
  7. I don't want to start a debate, but as stupid as this guy seems, if these were "fake" guns would it be any different? Also, If I was a karate instructor and had posted some pictures of what to do in certain situations (graphic) would that be wrong? Has anyone seen the show "Best Defense"? They point guns at people, show graphic details of how to protect against "bad guys", etc. Now I know this is an extreme case, but I guess I am getting fed up with all this "PC" crap. Just because something is a "law" does not mean it is right. For example some stupid laws in NJ: -You cannot pump your own gas. -It is against the law for a man to knit during the fishing season. -The third Thursday of October is designated as
  8. its Wonder-plastic. I guess evolution does exist...
  9. I noticed that as well....I think they had it a while back.
  10. I assume you want to know how to store the ammo as well? I keep mine in a controlled environment between 68-75 deg f in my bedroom locked up. I have a few mags with ammo ready to go. I have a bit stored up because I have no idea how hard ammo will be able to find in the near future. Like I said, I would not store it in the garage, shed attic or any place where the temperature fluctuates or moisture and humidity are present. I simply pick up a box here and there until I feel comfortable with what I have. I got a gun cabinet from Dick's and that holds all my ammo minus the shotgun shells. Those are stored (contained) in my cool basement.
  11. Thanks...it saves a lot of time and possibly money.
  12. You must be slow...my 14 year old son can empty a 10 round magazine 3-times in 2 seconds and it costs him $0.00!
  13. http://www.ammoengine.com Just plug in what you need and all online vendors come up with pricing, stock, etc....Have fun!
  14. That's why I am getting a savage .22 this Friday. I went and bought the ammo first because it was there. I know $50 for a 1000 rounds of .22LR is expensive but it's $250 cheaper than my 9MM ammo and $950 cheaper than my 30-06! At least I can go to the range and pop off a few hundred rounds for $10 or so....that's a bit more bearable. Also, I can go to the WMA site and have more fun with "goofy" target set-ups....
  15. First let me say, my hat is off to you, regarding thinking about the other guy who may need the .40S&W. I was on the "raw end" of a similar deal where the guy in front of me just bought it all. Ticked me off....he knew I was waiting for that ammo because we were discussing it while waiting. Second, I know Walley World in Bristol had .40 S&W (10-15 boxes) when I was there last week. Actually all the Walmarts had them last week that I went to. Figures that I have 9MM guns at home...DOH!
  16. "Mike's Sporting Goods" in Hainesport,NJ has 3-4 bricks of of Remington....a bit pricey at $32.99 per case. Also, I bought 2-bricks in Dick's Mt. Holly (Burlington,NJ) last week for $25 of CCI target. Gosh, I remember when it was like $6-$8 bucks a brick.
  17. could be worth it. Also, my local dicks had plenty of 9mm in stock, call yours. The point is, $15-$18 for a box of 50 ain't cheap to simply "pop off" at the range weekly. After you buy targets, time/gas to get there it's $65-$75 and that's just one trip to the range. Oh, and then add in the cost to join or go to the range and average that in. I'd love to go more to the range, but it's getting to be too expensive! Thanks for the "heads up" on the ammo.
  18. I often wondered and I think I know the answer to this, but maybe you can clarify two questions. 1) If I were to purchase a rifle/shotgun in NC (A lot cheaper), how do I work that with NJ If I PLAN to keep it in my house ONLY? 2) IF I go into PA and buy handgun ammo and bring back to NJ, is that ok? I heard only dealers/resellers can not?
  19. I don't know about that, I shoot my Dad's 686 much better than my 92FS and XD9. However, there is definitely a difference in trigger pull. Also, I use the 92FS in SA mode and the trigger feel is almost identical to the XD9. The sights are a lot farther apart and smaller which makes it (in my findings) "trickier" to aim and be accurate.....those sites are very hard to line up.
  20. +1 on that. .22 is about the only ammo "easy" to find and is a lot cheaper...for now. However, I have two 9MM handguns thinking that 9MM will always be around because of government use, etc. Also, I figured having one caliber would be easier to keep track of. However, 9mm is getting hard to find. I knew I should have went with my gut and got the .40 S&W (XD40). I see that ammo at Walmart's all the time...$26 for the 100 value pack of Winchester. Anyway, that's my take on it...
  21. Chad, LOL..... I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I think I want to try this gun, one more session, then make my decision. If I decide to sell, I will PM ya 1st...... Thanks Troy It takes a while to get it on target.. no idea why but it does. I can shoot better with other guns that I try from other members straight out of the box, then I do my 92 at times.. Strange as hell!! Seems each hundred rounds I get better and better grouping, so hopefully soon things start to click. I just put hogue wrap around rubber grips on it, and it really feels secure in my hand now. Next range visit I will see if that helps any. What did make an improvement was changing out the main spring for the D model spring. The only thing left that I want to try is polishing the trigger to make it a little smoother. Ok, I was EXACTLY where you are. I have an XD9 and put 1000 rounds through that and that gun was accurate pretty much out of the gate. Now the 92 FS was another story. I bought it used for $350 with 3-mags...I was so excited as this is the gun I always wanted. Went to the range and put a few hundred rounds and even though I was "off my mark" my groups were not tight at all. Anyway, I thought I'd give it some time. Several hundred rounds later and I still was not happy. I actually got to the point where I thought the barrel or something was warped. So I dry fired the "heck" out of it and then dry fired my XD9 and noticed something VERY interesting....the sights! They are smaller than the XD9 and quite a bit farther apart....I really focused on the front sight with both eyes opened then closed one eye....wow! The front site was slightly left and low every time. I never noticed it until I compared it to my XD9's larger sights. Went to the range and my dad was like "wow, what the heck happened?" I was DEAD on accurate 90% or more. As I approached 100 rounds I started to get a little sloppy, but it was like night and day. Don't give up, it's a great gun but takes a bit more concentration and time to be accurate with it. I love the solid feel, ease to clean and now the accuracy. It took some time, but it's now the gun I always expected it to be!
  22. I have the 92FS and the XD9 and I favor the XD9's grip over the Beretta's, but I feel both are very accurate. I like the grip angle on both. I would suggest dry firing as many as you can then narrow it down to a few then rent them. I had my heart set on a Glock 19, but it just did not feel right in my hand....it's a great gun, but it felt awkward to me. To each his own, I guess. For example, I was told to get a S&W 686 (like my Dad's) but it was A LOT more $$$. However, I put REALLY tight groups with that [ my Dad's] gun from 15 yards away....and I have only put about 50-60 rounds through it. Now I am kicking myself because I wanted to save some money. Anyway, take your time and keep looking. See if you can go with friends to try out their guns or rent a few after you narrow it down. Good luck and buy what feels best to you. Asking what the best gun to get is like asking me what the best guitar to buy is...there are MANY factors, but it comes down to your budget and what feels the best to you.
  23. Many rounds through my XD9 and Beretta 92 FS...other than being dirty, I have no issues. I was able to get a case at $10 a box before the rise in ammo prices so I can't complain too much.
  24. My Dad belongs to Hague's in Paulsboro NJ so I tag along with him for free. We try to go once a week but ammo prices are limiting that to every 2-3 weeks. It's very relaxing and some good bonding time...
