White Manor? There was a choke and puke called White Rose System in Highland Park I would stop at sometimes on my way back to NB from work at UPS in Edison at 0300. Was the only thing open on the way back. Godawful food and very seedy cleintele but very cheap-- Edit: White Rose in HP, no have never been to White Manna in Hackensack. From the wayback machine, there was a Wetson's burger place on Essex St near the NG armory in Lodi we went to frequently, its long gone now---

Chili dogs can also be had at Jersey Freeze on 9 in Freehold. Best chilidogs EVAR in NJ were from Fat Mike's on Rt. 17 near the Bendix diner, either Hasbrouck Heights or S. hack, I forget what town is there.. Used to eat there a couple times a week in the 80s when i worked at Teterboro airport and lived in that filthy over priced hell hole that is N. NJ
  3. Probably just the pits, as that has been in the works for some time to do lead remediaiton and rearrange them. There usually is a week the outdoor ranges are shut down for hunting season, I thought it was this week, or whenever shotgun season is for deer.
  4. Already have an M1, probably won't do an M1A anytime soon, if ever. The Mini-14 seems OK, am looking for something different than the M1/14/1A type, but last I looked, they were overpriced too, IMHO. maybe things have chilled out. No big rush, gotta wait till after the holidays, just looking for alternatives. may yet fall back to the SKS----
  5. Ok, whilst i wait for my P2Ps, I find my mind wandering toward an 'intermediate" caliber rifle. Nothing wacky, decoded on .223/5.56 for availability & cost of ammo. Am looking for an American made semi-auto rifle in said caliber, not an AR style, not a Mini 14. tastes run toward a carbine style, wood furniture, no pistol grip. Does such a thing exist (new) in the sub-$1k range? I know that there's the Saiga, but prefer US made. TIA--Matt
  6. Turn it over, the wife will never notice
  7. Not Manchester WMA, right? http://maps.google.com/maps?client=fire ... 1&t=h&z=15 No, but shoot a straight line up from the center of the racetrack looking thing, toward the NW and where it crosses Horicon, that clearing there, just east of the marker on Horicon,on the North side of the road
  8. I don't know, I have been by it 500 times going between Ft. Dix and Lakehurst, it is on the westbound side of Horicon Ave. Between 539 and Beckerville Rd. Check Google maps, it look like a long-ish clearing near the road. Looks unoccupied every time I have been by, I think it is a private club.

    Blond or Brunette

Blond wood looks better, IMHO. Saw a guy that had an M1 for sale with furniture lighter than that with tiger stripe grain and recoated everything, the contrast was quite striking. I have seen mausers like that but not an M1. He wanted some astronomical amount of money for it well north of $2K, IIRC, seemed to be a collector piece though.
  10. So it seems to be a complete new upper for the M4? IANAARG, so I dunno about such things, except the M16 from when I was in, and teh discussins here.
  11. I may yet bug him for help with .30-06, when I accumulate sufficient brass, at the rate I am (not) going, will be next summer
  12. I still think we in Mon & Ocean & Burlington county are the luckiest gun nut...er enthusiasts in NJ. With the two Lakewood places which shall remain nameless , CJRPC, Ft. Dix, Monmouth RPC, Assunpink & Colliers Mills and Manchester WMA, there are a few places to shoot. There is also a small range/club on Horicon Rd. in Manchester, that I keep forgetting about, and mean to stop there one day. Also have the whole range of firearms related sales & merchandise, from huge retail Dicks in two locations, to the Bobbsey Twins in Lakewood, to mom & pop shops (Cyrus and Jax Sportsmans Shack), to nearby friendly & sometimes grouchy ole FFL holders that are sponsors here. The friendly non grouchy ones are sponsors & well regarded, I mean!!!
  13. That's great, Chris. I called today and my 2nd ref finally got back, and they are on the Chief's desk. So maybe before the end of the year. I wont be able to buy anything till early next year anyways. 1st is a Buckmark, then will look for a gently used 686 or similar, no rush, will extend permit if needs be. You figure out whats on your list? IIRC, you were looking at 1911s and M&Ps?
  14. Yep, both adults, too. Since the last one happened by that cop in Weehawken I quadruple check
  15. Orest made the announcement on the CMP forums last week, that they will be getting in more HXP M2 ball ammo for sale in the Feb-Mar timeframe, and that it would be enought to last quite awhile, possibly years from what he said. I assume there will be limits on purchases, as there are/were in 09, so that it will last.
  16. The ammo will be worth the trip, save shipping. Are the Greek AF returns & unissued Greeks going to both stores, or only the South?
  17. Oh don't TORTURE me with those racks and racks of carbines!!!! I believe you still have to show eligibility (club mbr/marksmanship activity/FPID for NJ) to buy a CMP rifle, but check the CMP website or forums for that When're the national matches for the service type rifles? Summer? maybe up for that---
  18. You definetely will know more about Sigs after talking to dan
  19. Jackson PD required my refs to send the ink verion of the refernce form back, they would not accept the fax they sent.
  20. Did mine as well, bought a case (200) of Fed M1 load 30-06, just as a hedge, then word came out yesterday the CMP will be getting in a bunch more ammo early next year. So I am set, except for 1 order of Magtech 9mm from Cabelas, still B/O from late June! :x
  21. Mayyybe Thursday, or will go to CJRPC indoor after 2000 or so that day.Depends on sched
