Any issue with standing long guns on their barrels?
tt-33 replied to DirtyDigz's topic in General Discussion
chad barrels down on a double becouse any oil in barrels ,action or frame will by gravity go down hill old doubles allowed oil to seep into butt stock thats why when you inspect an old double such as lc smith baker crescent you look at the rear of the side plates for cracks and or oil with enough oil in the wood the locks dont work screws pull out then you usualy have to replace the wood and expect to pay $500 -1200 for goodwork -
If you looking for any good o/u their are some sleepers out on the market depends on your budget . if you need suggestions pm me mike

tony357 the spanish did themselves a diservice in the 60s and 70s buy flooding the us with junk ie the pride of spain line aka pos guns that looked great but poor steel.I want one of the good ones when money permits aya #2 4/53 almost any ugartechea I drove to lion country to see them.so Ido agree that the spanish can make good guns but you better look at reputation of the maker at hand ,high end spanish guns are considered only second behind english london guns

the english are big with noise restrictions .I used to buy a couple of english hunting magazines and remember them stating that the author bought a t3 rifle and was having the equivelent of a silencer fitted becouse of the restrictions also hastings makes the metro barrel it was 20 inches long screwed into the choke tube threads and was used with sub sonic loads
