Ammo is not the same as anything else. When you barter with it you do so to armed individuals who you by default know need it. They in turn will know you have it, therefore you will want to be extremely aware of who it is you are dealing with under such circumstances.

If you're not sure of the law at the very least make sure your setup is safe, then regardless of what poor interpretations a neighbor may have you should be fine if they decide to call in a complaint.

Agreed, as while it seems they aren't doing anything to hinder the process beyond a simple visit it was disappointing to hear. There is already a law against misrepresenting one's self while applying so like anything else if someone chooses to do so they make themselves vulnerable to prosecution. Also since 99.9% of us follow the law then as you essentially stated stated one bad apple should not be able to spoil the bunch. If it became a frequent occurrence then it would be easier to accept, but there appears to be no evidence that is the case.

I was told by the aforementioned reliable source that a few years ago someone misrepresented themselves to the department during the application process. Since that time they do indeed make a residence check routine, but only if the applications are in excess of 12 months apart.

Never had it done to me, but I then again I'm friends with the gentleman who accepts and processes the applications so maybe I got a pass. Will give him a call and see what I can find out.

Simply assuming that because you are armed you will be successful if a sudden home invasion occurs is understandable but foolish. Yes your neighbor helps and surely your dog as well, but these things tend to happen quickly and your state of mind or location in the home may not be ideal for countering a prepared, adrenaline-filled intruder that also may well have surprised you.

You see groups as well as individuals must be held reasonably accountable for their actions, this especially so if their actions have a negative effect upon those around them. What we often see right here in NJ is that once the black community establishes a foothold in a particular area, the crime rate dramatically increases accordingly. This is a matter of fact and not my personal opinion. This dysfunction costs everyone around them, primarily their fellow blacks. In fact the most unfortunate are often the innocent children forced to grow up under such difficult and dangerous circumstances. Then we have business owners who flee the specified regions, damaging the local economy even further. The problem also costs the taxpayer who is literally forced to help sustain many of these unsavory individuals via entitlement programs. So you see my friend, when we simply look at fact only we can clearly discern a problem. And while we have the rare likes of a Bill Cosby who may be willing to tell it like it is, he is not only chastised but also far from the norm in that regard. Most blacks believe it to be taboo to speak out against the problem, the very same one that costs them the most. Is that due to fear or perhaps might it be due to simple complacency? Well either way sir the rest of us need not be so complacent, especially when we see a fellow citizen, particularly in this case an innocent mother being savagely pummeled in front of her small, terrified child. I've always been taught that the only way to fix what is broken is to begin by identifying what it is causing the problem and then take sensible steps to fix it. Yet if we continue to ignore or cast blame on inanimate objects (firearms) in regard to issues within the black community, what might make anyone anywhere suspect things will ever change for the better? So in closing my friend I'll simply state that just as I should be obligated to expose and hold accountable a dysfunctional, dangerous relative who is a danger to those around him, the black community should be compelled to say enough is enough. Both for the sake of the good citizens within the community (of which I acknowledge there are very many) and again also the innocent children who deserve better as they grow up. I just hope that no one dare step out of line and mention that the black community is in dire need of both societal reassessment and also accountability. Apparently most either don't care or are scared to speak out, and certainly no one will demand better for all of us. Fact is that "people" just like him terrorize the innocent every day and no one will say so because we don't want to hurt their feelings. Brilliant strategy, one which is clearly working out well for the country as a whole indeed.

What specifically is your issue? At no time did I attempt to call you a liar or disparage you in any way, I asked for clarification based upon specified legitimate and related reasons and for some reason you wanted to be as vague as possible. Here's a bit of advice for you...stop posting dumb crap on the internet. There was a time not so long ago, around when Joe passed away and certainly prior, that it didn't matter there. Those days are over. As far as wising off to the staff in order to sound cool, tough or like an otherwise above-it-all type, there is nothing to be proud of in that regard.

I googled my email and the expected connection to my name came up since my last name is in it. There was nothing pertaining to my past firearm transactions however. I'd say that at the very least you're being a bit vague, almost irresponsibly so since you mentioned the unlikely but relevant issue. But we can let it go if you like, I was genuinely curious as to how that happened and nothing more.

Are you trying to say that you discussed the matter publicly and somehow she found the discussion(s)? And honestly I'm not trying to find fault with anything. I'm a single, full-time father of a 9 year old boy who has many neighborhood children in my home often. While I break no laws this is of relevance to me and likely others here as well.

I've been trying to catch up here and in other places regarding my lacking knowledge of this Mainor. As of yesterday I had him pegged as highly questionable at best, however after reading some of today's news we can absolutely confirm that he is not worth two seconds more of your/our collective time. Anyone who still believes otherwise at this point is being made a blatant fool of.

Just to clarify gentlemen, this is not about bashing the NRA and it's not about a non-existent return or our monies here in NJ. It is about holding them accountable to a perfectly reasonable extent. With all due respect, you really do not understand what it is that you're talking about. The NRA had the option to assist with Heller but declined because they though it couldn't be won. If you don't know that then you need to read up before commenting in their defense so aggressively. Toward the end they stepped in to a limited extent in order to save face, yet not a single members' dollar was utilized to help Heller. You know exactly what I'm talking about. I want to carry but I don't constantly fear for my life if I can't. I have also developed the ability to physically defend myself because the only thing I can count on to save me at the spur of the moment is me.

They may be doing just that, but I can't see how this philosophy of turning your back on one "lost" state after another is going to end up in anything short of disaster down the line. I spend most of my time on a national forum (which caused me to miss the rally...lesson learned) and I can't tell you how predominant this attitude is there. I'm talking about people squirming with discomfort if they have to take their weapons off to visit their child's school or visit any other gun free location. Grown, accomplished men who absolutely dread a brief visit to a non-CCW state as though they were visiting Mogadishu unarmed while known to be carrying diamonds. Funny in a way but also pretty dopey from most of our standpoints. Rather glad I'm not so reliant on a gun for personal security to be honest.
