  1. A Saiga can easily be made to accept actual steel AK magazines.. but in a state where you are limited to 15 round magazines, it is kind of a moot point unless you already own other rifles that take that steel AK mag.. but as said good luck with whatever route you take.. post up pics when you get it!
  2. the biggest change I have experienced is the following.. when I first got exposed to guns I was terrified to do anything outside of a gun shop.. I swore I would only buy a gun brand new at a shop... being a member here has made me realize just how normal guns (and gun transactions) are.. so much so that I think nothing of meeting a fellow forum member in the parking lot of a rest stop and selling them a firearm (legally with paperwork of course)lol.. but just saying I never would have considered that before..
  3. could you do a factory saiga with a giant drum! never mind the last line is two things.. high cap mag detachable mag.. right? edit two.. no wait you can have a factory saiga with a high cap mag?
  4. LOL nice.. I should have figured! first one I did I had no guidance so struggled through it... second time I used the video and it helped a lot..
  5. using dental floss to kind of hold it in place makes it way easier! did not watch the whole video but pretty sure this explains it
  6. I agree completely.. as I said earlier it is basically a bribe... the only issue with your mind set is what other choice do we have? hopefully someone will initiate a lawsuit before anything can be done at all.. free rights > paid rights > no rights So I am essentially considering payment for something as opposed to nothing.. and as you pointed out.. $500 this year.. $700 next year.. $2000 6 years from now? and allowing this nonsense allows them to say "oh no we allow carry.. see right here.. you just need the license"
  7. I would pay it now, knowing that it allows open carry.. and carry like a masterpiece arms 9mm on my hip in a holster.. as long as it's a pistol right? lol
  8. If I am going to pay to qualify pay to take psych pay to be licensed I might as well be a cop and get paid to carry... or be %150 in the clear if I ever have to shoot given the insane level of qualification required... In other words with that level of training I should be able to say "that person was a threat and deadly force was needed" and that in itself should be considered an expert opinion.. I am not against paying a modest amount for licensing process... I am not even against qualifying on the range.. but if at 30+ years old I have never been considered psychologically unfit, never committed, hell never even on any type of serious script, and you already trust me enough to own guns... I would say it is a pretty safe bet that I am not going to go out and start shooting people up.. the core of the problem is the same as it has always been.. one thing does not relate to the other.. qualifying.. psychological screening.. license fees.. they don't stop bad people from carrying guns.. crazy people are not going to run out and try to legally do things.. they are going to just do whatever they want..
  9. this honestly feels dirty to some degree.. almost as if you are literally bribing government.. to the point of saying hey I really want to carry a gun.. and they are like.. well.. if you give us some money we will let you.. the more I think about it the more irritating it is..
  10. While I would like to pretend that I would not pay the fee.. I am pretty sure that I would reluctantly pay..
  11. nothing wrong with that! the other upside is at the end you will have a rifle that you esentially put together with whatever furniture or parts you like..
  12. sadly... NJ Gun Law = Circus no one has any idea WTH is even going on.. so when faced with a question that does not fit standard definition.. Illegal...
  13. thanks you guys for all the help it is really appreciated.. the fan inside wont work.. when i put it on heat it tries to spin (fan inside) when I put it on cold nothing happens.. also got a hold of the land lord and he actually does have a guy local that he uses already so I am just going to leave that on him.. thanks again for all the input it is really appreciated!
  14. the other issue is I think that there is a max allowed weight for it to be a "handgun".. I was investigating pistol ARs before and I recall there being a weight limit..
  15. that is what I have come to diagnose as well based on what I have read online.. I took off the access panel and looked but too many wires.. too many items.. lol will just have a professional deal with it at this point.. after all I just rent and no sense in beating myself to death over it.. thanks for the info! If i could figure out which is the capacitor I would likely give it a try.. but a few too many wires for my liking..lol
  16. thanks for the info.. pulled the filter wasn't really that dirty.. but gonna change it anyway.. I am not sure but something is stopping the fan from spinning at full speed.. i dont think the motor is shot because with a little push it starts to spin just not at full speed.. so maybe just something dumb.. guess ill call the landlord in the AM... thanks again..

    My first AR

you did a great job.. I think I am going to do another AR once winter blows in..
  18. well I dont know that the heat is even going to work without the fan.. what you said is pretty much what I read.. people said if you give the fan a push and it works it might just be the cap.. ideally that's all it is.. my landlord is pretty cool so I really dont want it to cost him an arm and a leg.. thanks for the input man.. it is appreciated!
  19. my AC unit in the house froze up today.. the lines inside and out are both frozen.. I just shut everything down and am letting the ice thaw.. the inside fan will NOT spin just hums.. unless I give it a little push.. then it spins at partial speed freely no grinding noise or indications of a seized motor.. this behavior is identical with the unit on heat or ac makes no difference. is a capacitor shot? will the unit work once things unfreeze? is it normal for a frozen system to not blow air? thanks in advance for any help.. also I rent so I will likely have the landlord have someone come out.. anyone on here in the south jersey area do that kind of work? sometimes he has someone.. sometimes he asks me to find someone.. depends on the situation..

    My first AR

how much you think it took to put that together?
  21. It got chewed up a little on mine so I took it off and wrapped it in paracord instead.. the paracord was comfortable and low enough that it didnt get chewed up..
