  1. So it is a Federal Court? I thought it was only State? Hm, guess I need to brush up on my definitions.
  2. This. It won't go Federal until the Appeals process or it goes to the SCOTUS. So until deliberation in September its a state court issue, but during the appeals it can go either state appeals circuit, or Federal Appeals circuit.
  3. The fingerprinting is going to be a money order of 60.25 to Sagem MorphoTrak. They have locations on their website. The FID is fiver dollars and its to be given to the Det. Sgt. at time of pick up. So in all you are looking at spending 65.25 plus gas to get to the fingerprinting site. For a Pistol Permit you can get them at the same time as your FID it doesn't slow the process. But you have to be 21 to get a Pistol Permit which I assume you are since you are in College. I suggest you leave your firearms at your parents house if you live on campus. Its a long process so I suggest you start the process now.
  4. After hitting the bolt and elevator with silver polish I still had problems working the bolt. It was insanely stiff to pull back and very hard to push the bolt back into position. So I pulled it apart again today and hit polished some internal parts and hit the entire action with Kroil. I ran a couple patches down the bore with Kroil as well and it looks much better compared to what it was like when I got it. The bolt is redunkously fast to work now and it after working it a few times it didn't bind up and stop half way through the pull.
  5. I'm not even a law student and I could have written a better brief than that garbage. IMO, the judge will rule in the states favor because its New Jersey. Almost everyone is in some body's pocket. It will be sent to an appeals court where we will wait for another couple of months for a decision that could either way if in a Federal Appeals court, or in NJ's favor if its in a NJ Appeals court where we could appeal the appeals decision to the USSC where they decide if they even want to hear the case. If they do and we win then it sets a new juris-precedent that will pave the way for pseudo no issue state law suits across the US.
  6. I've been seeing 150 as a common selling number on Gun Broker and they look a lot worse condition wise. Honestly this one isn't my favorite. I prefer my 11mm mauser over this. Its in better condition with a shootable bore, excellent stock, and in good working order. I only have two working fire arms, and thats a side by side 12 gauge made in the 80's and a Type 99 early production before they were desperate. Really I just like them for their history.
  7. I looked and no rim fire cartridges are available in 10.4. Like I said the bore is shot to the point I wouldn't want to shoot it any way, I just like it for its historical significance in bolt action rifles. At the time it was the most accurate bolt rifle and was a Swiss man's hunting rifle and military rifle. It was later imported to Italy during WWI and converted to 6.5 Carcanno. I've been considering selling it to get a Mosin or start a savings for a VZ 24 Mauser.
  8. I asked the same. The last brief that New Jersey sent in was the last one and now we wait until September for a ruling. It seems like all we do is wait in this state.
  9. I had waited for a little over 5 weeks. I just got mine a couple days ago. I got home from putting in applications around town, got home turned my computer on and got a call from the Detective Sergent I could pick my FID up. Not even home 5 minutes I jumped back in the truck to get my card Checked the mail everyday hoping I would get a letter or something, and outta no where got a call. It was a good day.
  10. No I'm not going to shoot it. More of a collectors piece. If I wanted to convert it, I would need to be one rich mofo to fix it up. I just like it because of its historical significance to Swiss military rifles.
  11. Vetterli Model 1881. Fires a 10.4x35 Rimfire cartridge. Designed to replace muzzle loading Swiss rifles in the early 1860's. Inherited this through my great grandmothers passing, because my great grandfather was an avid collector. The bolt was hell to pull back so I disassembled the bolt and cartridge elevator and used silver polish on the parts that were gunked up with grease that was over 125 years old.
  12. I was just looking at bent bolts today oddly enough and came across a website that sells bent bolts. Bent Bolts. I read around a bit and this guy is the best in what he does. I'd take a look and if you're willing to shell out the cash get a bent bolt from a body he provides and keep yours for when you feel the need to switch back to straight bolts.
  13. I know I'm late to the party but the last NJ Brief that they put out skips over huge sections of prior cases and glances over important sections of Supreme Court cases. Its almost like if they don't mention it, or see it, or do anything about it then it magically disappears. And if I were the judge hearing this, then I would be concerned over the lack of recognition about the cases cited. I don't see this going over well for New Jersey, but its their court system and they pay for the judges so some BS may happen. As for requesting the information about CCW holders in NJ you could pull the same stunt the NY Times(?) did to get the list of CCW holders in NY. The names and addresses were redacted, but all you would need is a list of people who apply, and those that received them and you can show that 'Justifiable Need' extends to your check book and not any form personal protection.
  14. Manufacturers are exempt from certain state laws, and are given incentives to stay. We'll take Henry Rifles for example: They build their factory in NJ after getting their manufacturing permits. After that the government has no over sight on the company now. Plus they wouldn't want to lose the tax revenue from the company, and put more stress on the state with out of work factory workers.
  15. Are there any updates regarding the court case? I thought that NJ was supposed to have a response filed by now, but I haven't seen anything here.
  16. 6.5 Grendel SBR. One can dream can't he? AK Draco Pistol. If I have to fight my way through hoards of zombies, trenches, and the Siberian Tundra. This is assuming I lived in a free state, had a ton of money and Zombies existed.
  17. Last as in no more forever? Or last as in it'll be back but not for a while? And an address would be great to see how far away it is.
  18. Its weird, but its something that is really important in Fl but I don't get why PA non residents are barred from carrying if FL non residents can but only with a pistol. I lived in FL for a year and I know the gun laws, and laws for cc, but not PA. It is by far (next to Utah) the most gun friendly state in the Union. Glad I could help.
  19. Then Dave by Pa laws and regulations regarding out of state carrying of a concealed weapon he is allowed to only carry a pistol. No knives, stung guns, pepper spray or billy clubs. But again this is only my understanding of your question. It may be wise to ask someone with intimate knowledge of both laws in both states.
  20. Yes. Conditions 1 & 6 are for non PA residents with a PA concealed carry permit in the state of Florida. Or at least thats how I understand it how you wrote it out in the OP. We'll take condition 1 on first. So, as a Florida non resident carrying in Pa where your Florida concealed carry permit is accepted you can carry a pistol, and only a pistol. No stun guns, knives, pepper spray or billy clubs. Number 6 however is a little...hinky? As I interpret it Pa non residents are the only ones barred from carrying in Florida if you have a Pa permit. Example: Dave got his Pa CCP today, but is a NJ resident. Dave goes to Florida with his new permit and pistol. Dave gets mugged in Jacksonville after vising with friends at a restraunt. Dave draws and fires his weapon (legal under Florida's Stand your Ground provision) and stops his attacker. Police investigation sees he is a NON Pa resident with a concealed weapon in Florida. He gets arrested for murder because of provision 6. But that is how I understand it. It may be wise to seek advice from a attorney regarding this scenario.
  21. I know you don't want to hear this, but bite the bullet call the State Police and tell them your boro PD is not handling the exemption for one pistol per month in accordance to state law. Sometimes going above their heads and getting the State Police involved is just what they need. And if you fear retribution, and harassed constantly then get the court system involved. Take a stand and show them people are not to be messed with and they are no where even close to above the law they 'swore' to uphold and protect. EDIT: PK90 beat me to it lol.
  22. No, PA non residents are not allowed to carry any concealed weapon in the state of Florida. Why? Because they are not PA residents, and are not under the laws and regulations which determines the reciprocity of the permits in question. So as long as you're a PA resident, or hold a FL ccp, you are allowed to carry in PA and FL, but not if you have a PA ccp while living in Florida.
  23. All said, that wasn't that bad of a reply. Kid has to learn to proof read before sending anything. What if he had been sending misspelled notifications by e-mail or post office? How embarrassing for you would that be? IMO you did him a favor. But then again, I'm the kinda guy who would get Maks reply and take it on the chin and learn from my mistakes, but not everyone is like that
  24. 1. Application type: Inital FID 2. Police Department where you applied: Carneys Point Police Deaprtment 3. Name of person(s) you dealt with: A handful of Sergeants, patrolmen, and the clerk 4. Time taken to issue: Applied; 2/13/11 still waiting on 3/18/11 5. Documents required by the PD: Application (had duplicates), mental health release, character reference (only one had to run off a copy), Sagem Morpho Trak form, employer notification form 6. Notes: Everyone I talked to in there was very nice, and helpful A real pleasure to deal with. But I guess the Detective likes to go on vacation a lot because its going on 5 weeks with no notification.
  25. A county wide ordinance doesn't have standing over a NJ state law. Its like saying fecal matter rolls up hill, it defies legal gravity. You could argue that we have a Castle Doctrine but ultimately it doesn't apply until you're backed into a room with no windows and only one corner. IMO you'd be hard pressed to find a news story in the state that paints gun owners in a positive light.
