  1. Hey guys. So i LOVE my Remington 1100, but I'm thinking about getting a new semi-auto shotgun just for the fun of it. Looking into the lower-cost Beretta models. The Beretta 3901 and the A300 Outlander... The price difference is about $200 bucks, depending on whether you get the A300 Outlander with a wood or synthetic stock. Does anyone know any of the important differences between the 3901 and the A300 Outlander, and maybe the A391 Urika? Not really looking to drop more than $1,000 bucks on this gun, but you never know... Also, from what I understand, it seems that the A300 Outlander just came out recently, and I guess some stores don't even have them yet, so I guess I shouldn't expect much on reviews. Anyone seen them around?

    RTSP

I came out of there in a full sweat the other day. Pretty sure they vent the range with outside air, so the range is gonna be like whatever it is outside. There's a fan and a small air conditioner down at the end of the range by lanes 8 and 9 that help though.
  3. I've been thinking about the Bullet Hole for a place to shoot my new .22 recently. I'd been there to buy ammo a couple times just out of convenience, but had never shot there. Went to RTSP today for the first time. Great place. Not sure why I even ever considered the Bullet Hole, when RTSP is newer, cleaner, has a friendlier staff, and is only 10-15 minutes further from home.
  4. I view EFGA in a similar way as I do Range 14. For the price, how can you complain? I'll probably join out there within a week or two. Especially after reading what a few people have said about how it's rarely crowded.
  5. You know, I think I was thinking of Somerset County Fish and Game when I said no new members right now. The drive to Easton is actually closer than to Range 14, which is the only place I've ever shot my high power stuff. Maybe I should look into EFGA.
  6. I was told today by a guy at the gun counter that the Hamburg PA location sells more guns than any single store in all of the United States. Not just any Cabela's. Any store, period.
  7. Thought I remembered reading something about how they're not accepting new members right now. I could be wrong though..?
  8. Thanks guys. Sounds like RTSP is the play. It's only another 10 minutes or so in the car. I noticed on weekends they have a members only time slot. I'm assuming that means that you can shoot without joining during the week and after 10 AM on the weekends...
  9. Hey guys. Now that I have a Henry .22, I finally have a gun that I can shoot indoors. I've been to the Bullet Hole a few times, but have never actually shot there. I've looked all over, but I can't find their prices anywhere. How much do they charge for a stall per hour? And can you bring your own ammo, or do you have to buy theirs? This place is by no means my first choice, but it's the closest place to me. Is RTSP worth the few extra minutes in the car? How do their prices compare? I'm sure RTSP is cleaner and has a friendlier staff. Anyone have any insight as to which place gets more crowded? Lots of questions, I know. Sorry. But I appreciate any info you guys have.
  10. Went there today. As empty as I've ever seen it. Tuesday mid-morning really is the time to go. Some great deals on the used rack, and a lot of new firearms are on sale, and even clearance.
  11. Cabela's is an amazing place to go if you have an entire day to kill and you're just hoping to fondle some guns and get a feel for what you want. Not such a good place if you're actually planning on purchasing a gun. Unless you're the world's most patient person, or you're fortunate enough to find a great deal on the massive used gun rack.
  12. God bless you if you actually get to Arms-N-Ammo and Caso's in the same day. Those 2 are light years apart. Lol. Parking is a real pain at Caso's, but the people are great and the reduced sales tax is nice. They're also very well stocked for what appears to be such a small shop. As far as the area, it's not the greatest but it's only a block or so away from a school, so just park and walk near there. If you go around the time school gets out, there's a pretty hefty police presence around the school.
  13. http://www.shootnj.com/ftdixdirect.html Here it is in written form. I got beyond lost the first time I went there. Lol.
  14. They can probably thank The Hunger Games for that.
  15. Thankfully, going to school in NB doesn't require dealing with that specific area. I drove through there a while ago on my way to pick up a pizza. I've driven through murder zones in Newark and Camden, but this area had me just as, if not more jumpy. Scary stuff. You won't find me going through there ever again.
  16. Graduating college in May, and I'd be shocked if I was still here 2 years from now. I love NJ, I've lived in the same house since I was born. But over the past couple years, given the taxes and the housing prices, I've realized that this is probably not the place that I want to commit to settling down and starting a family in. My sister and her boyfriend are dead set on moving down to the Charlotte area, maybe just across the border in S. Carolina, and there's a pretty good chance I may be following them.
  17. Feel free to post pictures. I'd love to see them. I'm especially interested in the northern route, since I wouldn't just go straight out and back. I'd probably come back through Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, etc.
  18. Haha Alaska is a whole other animal for me. Another option I'm considering instead of driving cross country is spending a few days in Vancouver (anyone been there? I hear it's fantastic) and then driving from Vancouver up through British Columbia and the Yukon territory into Alaska. I spent an hour last night on Northtoalaska.com, where they give you routes and help you plan road trips up to Alaska from various starting points.
  19. Not to sound like an a**, but money isn't a concern. I have a good amount myself, and my parents have also agreed to fund at least part of any trip I take as a graduation gift.
  20. So I'm graduating college in May and I'm looking into different trips that I could take to different places right after I graduate. There are so many places I want to see, and roads I want to drive, that I figured why not knock off a huge chunk of them by driving cross country? I've always wanted to do it, and this is the perfect time for it. Just wondering if any of you have ever done it before. More than anything, I'm just curious about your general experience. Are you glad you did it? How long did the entire trip take you, there and back? Was it a huge financial burden? Feel free to include any specific places or roads that you feel are "must-sees," or specific bits of advice that you feel are critical to the trip being a success. I sort of have a tentative route worked out, but obviously I'm just in the beginning stage of planning so I'm all ears.
  21. Lost in all this (except someone mentioned it above), is that Ravi and the defense apparently turned down a plea deal that would have cost him (I believe) about 600 hours of community service, which amounts to about 1 summer. What were they thinking turning it down? As a Rutgers student, I can tell you that the entire community here was outraged upon finding out what Ravi did - and I'm not just talking about the LGBT community. I'm talking about everyone. Had he not been convicted, or been facing a harsh sentence, this place would have erupted. The fact that he tweeted about it and encouraged everyone to come back and watch the encounter just sets it over the top. So you can believe all you want about him worrying about his belongings, but I'm pretty sure that making your roommate's affairs public doesn't protect your stuff in any way. Legally, is it worth 10 years? Probably not. But it's pretty disgusting. For the record, though, I don't hold Ravi responsible in any way for the death of Tyler Clementi. But what he did was pretty vile. He'll probably get a portion of the 10-year maximum, followed by deportation. Harsh, but he probably should have thought about what he was doing first. You reap what you sew.

    Recommend me a scope

+1. Love that site. Got my Redfield Revolution on there fr a good price.
  23. So I ordered a new one-piece mount for my Tikka T3, and it arrived today. I am not the most mechanically gifted person, so even something that seems as simple as installing a new scope mount is pretty daunting to me. So I unwrap the mount, line it up with the top of the receiver, and it looks like everything is gonna fit, but there's one problem. There are 4 screws on top of the receiver that I'll obviously have to take out in order to be able to screw the mount in. They are extremely small, not something that I can just unscrew with a normal screwdriver. I looked around the house and found the smallest screwdriver I could, but when I went to try to unscrew them, I realized that these screws appear to be PLASTIC, not metal. Below is a picture of two of the screws. There are two more on the front end of the receiver. You can see I actually chewed one of them up a little bit trying to get the screwdriver to fit in. Does anyone know or have an idea as to how to remove these plastic screws so I can screw in the mount for my scope? Maybe this is the easiest thing in the world, but as I said before, I'm about the farthest thing from a handyman, so any advice would be appreciated.
  24. Uhhhhh WHAT?! I guess it used to be better in the past, since you said you haven't been there in a while. Starlite is absolutely horrendous these days. Lol. This might sound nuts, but there's phenomenal pizza at the driving range on Eagle Rock Ave. in Roseland. During the offseason, I used to always go hit golf balls, grab 2 slices, then go home. Made for a great afternoon.
  25. Star Tavern in Orange.
