Looking at this as a belt combo...
Jayce replied to DevsAdvocate's topic in Competitive & Fun Shoot Discussion
I'm in the same 'buy once, cry once' category. I use comp-tac belt holster and mag pouches. Then for a belt I run an Ares Gear Ranger belt. I use it for both USPSA Production and IDPA it's a real stiff belt and the comp-tac holster and pouches stay in place and don't shift. -

Range Etiquette Tips
Jayce replied to Cemeterys Gun Blob's topic in Firearm Hobby / Sport Discussion
You gotta love Caleb. This was funny. -
When the gun is empty and you load a full mag inside the weapon. You can sling-shot/power-stroke the slide to send it into battery, hit the slide release, or what i was told was to do the "45 bump." I slam my magazines into the mag-well If my palm hits the grip at 90 degrees, the slide won't go forward on it's own. But, If I hit on the same plane as the grip at a 45 degree angle I can send the slid into battery every single time.

Did you purchase a rifle outside of NJ, then had all that stuff done by AA?
-
I'm trading e-mails with Mr. Joe Gallo at Mastodon right now. Looking at a mid-length Spikes rifle.
-
Comp-Tac. They ship pretty quick and IDPA legal.
-
Haha. Thanks for the offer Old School. After exhaustive reasearch and browsing this forum and others, I'm looking at the Sig Sauer M400. But again, as I progress I'll be looking for a reliable shop to swap out parts.
-
Very Cool. I haven't attended an IDPA event at Old Bridge. But will def be looking forward to it now! Anyone else please feel free to chime in.
-
I haven't bought it yet, but one will be in my hands by the end of the month. Only shot an AR twice in my life (one was chambered in 9mm at an indoor range), and I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. So I'll be learning as I go along.
-
Hey guys, Before I take the plunge and purchase an AR, I want to know if any shops/smiths can re-pin change the stock as well as swap out an already pinned and welded compensator for another one. G&S Hunters/Paterson Gunsmithing in Paterson says then can do all that. I'd also like to know other resources. As I learn and evolve as a shooter I want to make sure my rifle can change or evolve with me. Thanks, Jayce

Hey everyone, I'm picking up an AR and a shotgun in the next couple of months. I wanted to know if there were any dedicated local competitions that I can use them. I know that Shongum has a rotating side match the first Saturday(?) of every month. Then there is the occasional zombie match. But are there any others in the Tri-state/PA area? I'm having fun shooting IDPA and USPSA but I want more! Thanks, Jason

Nice pieces! What's the top rifle composed of?

Bullseye Tactical Supply Inc. now open in Woodbridge, NJ. Check it out!
Jayce replied to deni's topic in Ranges & Gun Shops
I stopped by the shop this past Monday on my way back home. The owner was really nice and let me hang out and shoot the breeze for a while. I'm looking forward to my next visit as well as the proposed "Build your own AR" counter! -
I was considering a SCAR. But also looking at the PWS systems.
-
Very true on both points. But from pictures and diagrams these two rifles seemed to be the simplest of the bunch. I was originally looking at PWS's systems. But def I wasn't going to get a DI gun and convert it. I figure with Stag Arms and Smith and Wesson I wouldn't be going wrong if something were to happen to the piston system itself.
-
From what I've read, easier to clean and maintain. As well as a bit more reliable in the long run.
-
Looking to get my first AR. I've been looking around for a good while and pretty much have narrowed it down to two. S&W M&P15 PS or Stag Arms Model 8? Does anyone have or know anyone with experience with these rifles? They're both in the same price point with the exception of the Stag Arms comes with MI folding BUIS where as the M&P does not come with sights at all. I can't tell a difference between the piston systems themselves but it seems Stag Arms' system seems more robust. I'll refer to more experience on that front. Thanks guys

Any opinions on PWS's piston system?
-
Hey NJ Gun owners, Looking to get a piston AR based of off researching the net and pretty much decided on the PWS line of ARs. Anyone have experience using/owning one of these rifles? Not sure if I'm going to build the AR yet, maybe just purchasing the upper and going with a different lower. Cheers

I just found this document after asking myself what the hell MSG73 was talking about! Could have saved me some cash. http://www.burwellguns.com/misc/M&Ptriggerjob.pdf
-
I too have an M&P. The "gritty" feeling of the trigger is from the trigger bar hitting the striker block (from what i've read). I shoot IDPA/USPSA and don't notice the grittiness during competition or doing quick follow up shots. But I did notice the lame reset. So I bought the APEX RAM kit and it does make a slight difference. I'm picking up the APEX sear as well because that's suppose to help in the feeling of the reset.
-
I personally would go with comp-tac. Similar and on par to blade-tech but much faster production/delivery.
-
I'd def get the APEX R.A.M upgrade.
