  1. While they might not get the conviction for the hollow points, the plea deal might include becoming a prohibited person, never again allowed to own firearms.
  2. Hahaha, this is NJ. I would bet a years pay that there are lots of prosecutors in this state that would charge you for this, especially if, god forbid, you were involved in a shooting.
  3. In Ocean County, the Prosecutor prohibits Officers from carrying their "dept owned weapons" out of state. I'm guessing to shield agencies from liability if the gun is used out of state where the Officer doesn't have jurisdiction. This doesn't apply to Officer owned off duty weapons.
  4. Technically you are breaking the law by purchasing ammo without the FID. Just because some companies will ship it to you without one, doesn't mean it's legal.
  5. The Governor really can't help gun rights in this state. The liberal state legislature makes the laws, and they show no signs of passing any pro gun legislation. It is my belief that NJ, like CA, will go in the opposite direction of the rest of the county on gun laws. The person sitting in the Governor's chair will have little influence on that.
  6. I remember reading that. The bill would have done away with the P2P except for private handgun sales, since NICS wouldn't be involved with that. The sticking point with many pro gun groups was insertion of language requiring "showing good cause" for purchasing a handgun. I don't think the legislation went anywhere, but I'm not sure.
  7. Now the rest of the country can be like NJ.
  8. No doubt the whole point of the legislation. If it ever passed, and Obama gets re-elected and gets to stack the Supreme Court with his people, concealed carry will be effectively dead in the US.
  9. Constitutional rights? Are you being denied firearms ownership? Please, I all for firearms ownership, but some of you 2A extremists think you should be able to buy guns as easily as a can of soda. Yes, NJ laws suck, but no body is being denied their 2A rights because of the delay.
  10. You guys just don't get it. It's not that it takes that long to check, it's that there are a stack of a 100 or so similar applications ahead of you. It takes time to get through it. There is no reason for NJ to continue to use the old fashion and redundant paper system. This is the reason for the delay, not some sinister anti gun plan by your local PD.
  11. And yet the state still makes you fill out the release when you apply for each P2P. More duplication. And you wonder why they take so long.
  12. Reality of life. Again, blame the state, they are the ones creating all the red tape. In my PD the detective that does them has to balance doing the permits with such trivial matters as burglaries, sexual assaults and drug activity. It's not that the PD are dragging their feet, they simply don't have the time to handle the flood of requests.
  13. Don't blame the PDs. Blame the State. First off, the whole P2P process is a relic of the past, made obsolete by the instant check process that we all have to go through anyway. Second, because the state has cut aid to the towns, they have been forced to lay off Officers. Officers first duty is to investigate crimes. Many departments simply can't keep up with the increasing demand for permits with dwindling manpower. Until the State shelves the antiquated paper P2P system, nothing will change. You can call all you want, it won't do anything except waste your time.
  14. This is NJ, guns are considered evil. The chances of such an amendment ever passing here is the same as having 12 feet of snow in the middle of August.
  15. If you are firing 45 shots at one person, you should probably practice more.
  16. As I stated before, if you bought your handgun in NJ with a P2P, then that information is readily available through Master Name Index in NCIC 2000. Any police agency can access that information without having to carry all the paperwork with you. Sounds like a nervous nelly to me.
  17. Agreed, if deadly force was justified, then it's justified. Doesn't matter what ammo you used as long as it was legal to own, which HPs are.
  18. In other words, he fully supports and will be voting for it.
  19. I never been told this either. I have gotten 4 permits over the last 2 years, including a change of address on my FID and never had to provide my chief or Lt as references.
