  1. I like the war sword myself. I hate the lime green scales though. EVERYBODY is jumping on the Zombie marketing bandwagon now! Hornady even has a line of "Zombie Killer" ammo!!
  2. I carry the SOG Aegis when I'm working in the high crime areas around Northern part of state. It is a lightning quick fighter that makes me feel just a little better when I'm operating in those areas. My "office" knife is a CRKT Kit Carson M1 w/ a stone wash finish. I've found it attracts much less of the "wrong" looks if I have to use it around the civilians. Anyone interested in buying knives below retail please shoot me an email at [email protected]
  3. My name is Paul and I'm a life long NJ Resident. After a stint in the Marine Corps I came back home (somewhat unfortunately considering the assanine gun laws, taxes, politics etc.) and never left. I also served in the NJ National Guard and currently work as a Veteran Service Representative for the VA Regional Office in Newark. I'm a gun and knife nut and have a very small business on the side selling knives/accesories and hand made knife sheaths and am branching out into cell phone carriers. Any veterans need assistance with VA benefits (especially homeless veterans) please feel free to contact me on this board, at my VA email address [email protected] or my Govt. cell: 973-704-3865.
  4. Hey Jar Head I've got some pics I'd like toshare but can't seem to figure out how to insert them. Any advice for an 0311?
  5. Ka-Bars are the most commonly carried belt knife professional survival instructors use. I literally own a hundred knives, some of them the super duper high tech super steel combat blades, but when something needs to get wacked around the house, it's the Ka-Bar that's on my belt.
  6. I've been seriously considering moving to Florida, not just because of the gun issue, but that's a major part of it. If I can transfer to the St. Petersburg office for my agency I'm outta here likely. I'm not a city dweller type, more rural or at least suburban. Any idea what the area near St. Pete is like? Thanks for any info.
  7. I belonged to the NRA many years ago however became disillusioned with some of their tactics and just didn't feel that they were effective enough to warrant renewing my membership after several years. I only learned of NJSF a few weeks ago while researching CCW in NJ.
  8. You correct that you can transport them TO and FROM a firing range and may shoot them IN your home but those few dozen private citizens in this state who have CCW CAN NOT use hollowpoints (including retired police officers who have the retired cop CCW). And with due respect attitudes like yours are the reason why many times you are correct that things won't change.
  9. I say we make 2012 the year we change NJ's gun/knife laws for the better. To do that we need to get the national level office holders/candidates behind us to influence state level decision makers. We also need to get individual police officers and commanders to support the movement as well. I know a lot of cops and most have felt the same way we do about the gun/knife laws here. They are nonsense and the only way to cut back on crime is to get serious about sentencing. Below is my list of laws that need to change this year: 1: CCW 2: Hollow Point Bullets Ban 3: "Assault Weapons Ban to include allowing private ownership of Class III weapons. 4: Eliminate the ban on Automatic knives, dirks, daggers and the other "evil" blades that aren't actually used in crimes. What do you all think?
  10. Ka-Bar Utility/Fighting Knife: In WW2, the Marine Corps requested a fixed blade, single edged knife that could be used for both utility and fighting purposes. The blade had to be thick enough to be used for prying and hammering w/out bending or breaking. The clip point blade was chosen as for its strong tip that had just enough "belly" to be useful for skinning game if needed. There's a reason that it has served continuously since the early 1940's. You can cut, chop, pry, hammer, dig, wedge, skin and wedge it into a cliffside crack and stand on it and it'll keep coming back for more. I have several Ka-Bars that served in WW2, Korea and Vietnam. My own personal Ka-Bar is my go to knife for yard work, walking in the woods and is right next to my browning Hi-Power as backup. You can't go wrong w/ a Ka-Bar.
  11. We need to push for Christie to change NJ to a "Shall Issue State". All this talk about recipriocity is irrelevant to 99.9% of NJ Gun Owners since you can't get a permit to carry unless you are a democratic member of the legislature/senate, donated to his/her campaign or are a retired police officer.
  12. CRKT's have some very cool blades for reasonable prices, you can have "cerrated", plain or combo and many are assisted openers.
  13. As a certified knife nut I've probably lost more knives than most people will ever own. The type of folder you carry will depend on what it's primary purpose will be. I alternate my EDC's every couple of months or as I acquire new ones. As many of the comments state, Emerson's and Chris Reeves are the top of pyramid tactical folders that will absolutely not fail when you need it.However you pay BIGTIME for that. Most of Emerson's folders w/ the Wave folder start out at about $200 retail and they are in such high demand they are very hard toget. Lower cost but not lesser quality are Spyderco, Zero Tolerance, Cold Steel. Actually carry up to three knives at a time depending on where I am, what I'm doing and what legal/social issues are at hand. I generally carry a solid folder w/ a blade length around 4 inches for heavy cutting chores, prying and unforeseen emergencies, a Leatherman Wave multi-tool and (especially if I'm in an office environment) a Swiss Army Knife. I learned the hard way several years ago about carrying my standard tactical folder at the office. I had to open a new box of copy paper and needed to cut the tough nylon strap that goes around it. I took out my Benchmade version of the Emerson CQC7 and cut it open. Unbe knownst to me, a female co-worker was standing behind me at the time. She immediately remarked "Wow that's a really big knife! Why do you have to carry that around w/ you?" Ten minutes late I was explaining that to my boss. Since then I've learned to leave heavy hardware in my pocket unless I really need it or there's no nervous nellies around. I just started a knife selling business and would be happy to discuss w/ you possible options. I charge at least 20% below retail and am open to negotiation. I have a start up website at: SensitiveItemRetentionSystems.com or email me at [email protected]
