Monroe residents as a whole are feverishly anti-development. They had been a farm town for so long that commercial construction over anything is fought by the locals it affects. Point in case, there is not one typical fast food establishment (sans subway, does that really count?) in the 44 sq miles of the municipality.

The shooting range will be going in as planned, but the retail store has been denied. I dont understand what the big fight is over.. the gun range is already going in there... guns are coming and going. Im sure theyll be rentals and ammo sales so having some additional inventory shouldnt be such a big deal.
