  1. I'm hearing the same sorts of things :-) Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
  2. While I would usually agree with you, having dedicated tools and items in your go-bag allows you to leave at a moments notice without having to fetch items that may be around the house. The other benefit is that you can keep in your car so you don't have to go home if you make the choice to bug out.
  3. I ended up taking the girl for a ride south last night and was able to fill up at the turnpike rest area between 7 and 7a. No rationing rule in place and only 1.7 gal burnt returning home.
  4. Nice buy! Did you think at all of the 887? Just curious as I am trying to figure out which one to get next. Cheers, James
  5. I've read some "research" in articles that suggest that for a practiced shooter, a laser is slower for shooting than using sights. However, that same laser can speed up an unpracticed shooter or someone that does not shoot often. The stuff was focused mostly on self defense but would likely apply to competition too.
  6. I was able to fill up in Franklin Township. Both the BP and Valero were open and pumping. Maybe a 15 minute wait.
  7. I've seen a lot of people shooting with the C-More sights in USPSA Open. Also seen some pics of the Trijicon RMR mounted to the slide or on a plate.
  8. Another great review, TW - thanks as always. I'm looking forward to starting the path of GFH training with the UP1 and UC1 in Dec. Like you, I've started shooting IDPA/USPSA but have taken a recent absence for knee surgery. You made note a couple times to having a student nearby or clearing the shoot house with them. Can you elaborate a little bit more on this? And what is the "catch up" drill you mentioned? Cheers, James
  9. It'd be great to have another person from the forum there!
  10. It looks like it could be a refueling formation. Typically there is a larger tanker in the middle and the refueling planes fan out and take turns sucking from the teet. Could be planes coming home from overseas or maybe a training mission?
  11. Thanks for the lead. This is more to my liking - less parts and QD without paying out the butt. I like that it has wings to protect the optic too.
  12. That's an awesome idea. I've had some pain with having to break the cheek weld to use the RMR, rolling to an offset sounds like an awesome alternative.
  13. Hey guys and gals, I'm signed up for the Urban Carbine and Urban Pistol classes (level 1) for December in Cedar Grove. I'm looking for anyone else that is planning on attending, and for people with advice about the course - what to expect, suggested gear, etc. Really looking forward to some formal training from the guys at GFH! Cheers, James
  14. Hey all, I'm finally getting into using my M&P 15T for something more than being a safe queen and distance shooting. I currently have an ACOG (4x32 Dual Illuminated ballistic reticle + RMR Sight) plus magpul backup sights and need some advice. I have done mostly distance shooting with the platform and haven't spent much time with competition usage. I'd like to try some rifle competition (3 gun, 2 gun, or side stages) and get more "tactical" experience. I've registered for a GFH Urban Carbine 1 course and I'm looking for advice around using the ACOG in such short ranges. Will the optic serve the purpose or should I go with the iron sights for the class? I see lots of people opting for the Aimpoint T-1's these days so I'm concerned that I have the right tool for the job. Any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated.
  15. The hardest part is drifting the sights to get the USB in.
  16. I did. NJSP have them and I've cleared I would guess. The issue is my local PD hasn't gotten their copy back.
  17. I do think there may be something to the NJSP being backed up. I was printed back in the 3rd week of July and my PD hasn't receive them from NJSP. Everything else is good to go so I'm hoping another week or two and everything will be complete.
  18. Welcome to the forum - you'll likely need to put out a post into one of the other forum topics in order to get a real response about the club. You might get better responses if you ask some specific questions about the club etc. Cheers, and welcome aboard.
  19. I'm out of shooting until my knee get's looked at. MRI scheduled for Tuesday - yesterday didn't help things, it's all locked up today... oops.
  20. It was definitely different from IDPA - I'm not sure which one I fit in with better at this point but I did enjoy the wider variety of stages that were involved. Also, the steel stage made me it's Beotch so that was embarrassing.
  21. I'm not but I'm willing to drive - Up in Bayonne I saw that but I was going to my dad's for the Travers' Stakes @ Saratoga so I couldn't make it.
