145 days and counting. City of Linden. Took them 3 months just to send out reference letters. Letters were sent back right away. Now for the past 3 weeks I've been waiting for them to send the letter to verify my employment and still have not gotten it. I keep calling and nothing gets sent. Must be great to live in a town that handles your paperwork in a timely fashion. Here in Linden they don't care at all.

I spoke with the detective last week. My background check is all done. He said he was sending the letters out and as soon as he gets them back I should have my FID that week.

After 110 days, my references finally received their letters. I talked to them today and they will be sending them out tomorrow. If everything goes well I should have my FID and permits by the end of the week.

This. It looks like he was content on going in there to kill and then kill himself. The guns he did it with or the number of rounds in the magazine is completely irrelivent. But the anti gun vulchers will milk this as hard as possible.

Today is 100 days since I gave in my application for fid and permits in Linden. Still no letters have been sent out to my references.

I've been waiting 15 weeks here in Linden and my references still have not received there letters. I called the records department last week to speak with the firearms clerk and they told me he's on vacation for two weeks.

I called the chief's office. His secretary told me he is on vacation and that he doesn't deal with the fid process. Three weeks ago I talked to the guy in charge of my paperwork. He told me my background check was done and he just has to send out the ref letters. Three weeks later I talk to him again and he says the same thing and that he'll send out the letters this week and hopefully it will be done by friday because he is going on vacation. Nothing was ever shipped out. So now I have a chief and the guy in charge of my paperwork both on vacation. I'm 88 days in. I guess I have to wait another 3 months. -Sorry if I'm bothering anyone with my updates. Just thought it would be good to get the word out on how slow my city is.

As long as dems are in charge of the senate, it will never be brought up for a vote.

I called the pd again today and the women who answered gave me the runaround. When I asked if she could check the status of my application, she told me she can't find my paperwork and would have to call me back. Which of course she didn't Another member on here who's also from Linden, called this morning as well. He talked to the same lady and got the same runaround. Can't find paperwork and we'll call you back. So it looks like Linden is just sitting on the paperwork and intentionally not processing it. Not sure what to do now. Maybe I should call the chief's office or my councilman.

I agree with you man, it ticks me off too. It isn't right for them to drag there feet. We pay taxes and follow the law, so we should get an answer by 30 days. I've been calling every week for the last 3 weeks and its getting me nowhere.

Hey Steven, you should still wait a few more weeks. 52 days isn't too bad. Some people on here have had to wait way more than that. I've been waiting 80 days so far here in Linden for my FID and permits. The pd hasn't even sent out the reference letters yet.

Wow less than three weeks, that's awesome man. It's past 11 weeks for me here in Linden.

They want this law to stop crazy people or criminals from getting ammo. But whats to stop an someone from going to there local gun shop and buying a bunch of ammo and then go commit crimes? The stupidity of these people is mind boggling.

Just like the Schmuck Schumer amendment, this has no chance of passing. And being an election year, it has even less chance of passing. All this is is taking advantage of a tragedy to score political points. Most common sense people, not just gun owners, know that all these firearm and ammo laws will do nothing to stop an evil person or a criminal from doing bad things. These politicians are despicable.

To get rid of the bad gun laws in nj you first have to get rid of the democrat politicians who support all this crap. Until we vote them out, nothing major will change.
