  1. The Glock 20 10mm can also shoot 9mm, 40, 357sig. With the right barrels/extractor
  2. I find carpet will hold that basement smell of moisture... Go with tile. With gravity every over flowed tub/sink/toilet/washer will end up in the basement. I laid down 1500 feet of carpet 2 weeks before hurricane sandy. It didn't stand a chance... She was floating in 12 inches of water before ever being vacuumed.... Has not flooded since but I replaced with tile and area rugs... Never looked back..
  3. In Maryland (Maybe other states) the CCW permits show up on computer and triggers a conversation about firearms.? http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/dec/30/gun-owners-fear-maryland-cops-target-them-for-traf/?page=all It if is just me I might just hope for the best and go with the odds but not of my wife decides to drive with me. I was hoping for a better option...
  4. So I would like to move some of my collection from NJ down to my FL residence. I will be driving down in Oct so this would be a great opportunity to move the collection in one shot. I realize I am protected under FOPA but realistically what can I expect if I get pulled over in say Maryland... I'm thinking they are not going to just send me on my way... I read somewhere if you have a ccw it shows up on their system.... If the guns are getting confiscated till everything is "verified" or I'm getting held till things are sorted out in the morning then I need another option. I'm not in a Uhaul. I have everything I need down there already. It will be just me a few snapples and a trunk load of handguns and ammo. Mail a crate of guns to myself? Pack two suitcases of guns for my next flight? Bring the P2P copies to show ownership/years of purchase? The only thing I feel comfortable with is taking one or two down each trip but that will take a very long time.
  5. Texas allows you to shoot trespassers on you property at night for vandalism... ( but not during the day.) Crazy..... The thinking is that at night it is harder for you to tell the difference between a simple act of vandalism and say a home invasion about to occur. They take shoot first and ask questions later literally down there. The TX CCW class went over a lot of scenarios for when it was ok to use deadly force that made my jaw drop...
  6. What gives you the impression if NJ recognized the exemption it would only apply to C&R firearms.? I assume if they can ignore it they could have only allowed it for C&R pistols but as the law itself reads it simply states if you are a collector and "have" a Lic you are exempt, same as Police and Retail dealers. ---------------------- (7) A dealer shall not knowingly deliver more than one handgun to any person within any 30-day period. This limitation shall not apply to: (a) a federal, State, or local law enforcement officer or agency purchasing handguns for use by officers in the actual performance of their law enforcement duties; (b) a collector of handguns as curios or relics as defined in Title 18, United States Code, section 921 (a) (13) who has in his possession a valid Collector of Curios and Relics License issued by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; or © transfers of handguns between licensed retail dealers.
  7. I noticed is says Rhode Island is Shall Issue....apparently there was a state Supreme Court ruling back in April that required the town issued permits to be shall issue while the AG permits are still may issue? Does anyone know if it is at the point of us non-residents being able to apply successfully yet? I usually do a trip there every year or two... I'd go more is I could ccw there..
  8. Hey... Don't be dissing my granddaddy's Foster Slugs...
  9. Agreed and just because it is allowed does not mean you will easily find an FFL willing to extend their comfort zone to complete the transaction... Your level of knowledge is not typical of my experience when stepping up to a gun store counter. More times then not I am dealing with a clerk who has only basic training.
  10. PK90 You can take an online course and then a proctored exam or take the class/test. It was two nights 4 hours each if I remember correctly. Exam was a joke if u sit thru the class. Rob0115 Not sure if you meant a. Boat Lic was unnecessary for driving a. Boat or purchasing firearms. As for purchasing firearms 5of5 FFL's in my area refused to sell to me without a DL or state issues non drive ID.... period. Did not even want to discuss it. Now i don't even mention I'm a dual resident...
  11. Keep your Resident NJ FID, and get you DE drivers... You will have to turn in you NJ drivers License.....but you can get a NJ boat Lic with your NJ address on it. It look just like a Drivers Lic. The boat Lic number will be your old NJ driver Lic number so it will process thru the NJ Nics system without issue... Now you don't have to carry around tax bills or even tell the NJ FFL you have a DE driver Lic or they you are a dual resident, ect, ect. It is very handy to be able to prove NJ residency while I have a FL drivers Lic without raising eyebrows. County Park facilities is just one example. Ordering stuff online to be shipped to either home requires a matching drivers/boat Lic. I use the appropriate one when needed is a second. Funny story ... I accidentally used my boat Lic to rent a car at Enterprise. That didn't even notice. You can NOT get a NJ non driver ID if you have an out of state Lic. That is a no, no... But the boat Lic is effectively the same thing. Lastly, if national reciprocity ever goes thru.... You will be good to go for CCW in NJ ( as a Delaware resident).
  12. You might want to still get it just for the Discounts at Brownells... Also the process was interesting. A very nice older lady from the ATF comes to your home to inspect the residence.... Actually she just sits at your kitchen table for 2 hours reviewing how to keep the bound books in order and reviews other fun facts.
  13. I am a NJ C&R FFL and asked a few FFL's about it but none would honor the exemption. You would have to get your second gun in 30days thru a private sale to even attempt to challenge the law. I suspect NJSP would charge/harass you but then drop the case before it went to court so as not to set a precedent. CC might very well veto any changes that the legislation attempt to make.. Perhaps the AG would/could clarify the exemption is only for C&R pistols? The would severely limit the usefulness of the exemption. The way the law reads now a c&r holder is ogam exempt on all pistols. Gun for hire posed my question to Nappen on air re the c&r exemption but he skirted answering why NJ does not have to honor it and said to not get a C&R for other reasons as mentioned in his book.
  14. Meet a friend of my brothers who offered to take me and my son Hog Hunting when I come back down to FL in November. He said he recommends a 12 gauge slug gun as the area he hunts has a lot of brush and most shots are well under 100yards. He also has a 357mag revolver since on occasion they can't tell which direction the shot came from and will run towards you... I have done plenty of deer hunts but never a hog hunt... I was thinking I would bring down a couple of AR-15's with red dot's to handle both the kill shot and any follow-up shots required if necessary... Does anyone have a better suggestion or tip's for a decent .223 hog load to use. He was poo pooing use .223 for hog... Not sure why??? I know .300 black out is popular but I thought that was just because if can go subsonic suppressed.?
  15. So I have had the opportunity to CCW the last few days and once again reality has sunk in re the joy of CCW in the 100 degree FL heat.. Day 1: Glock 27 .40SW IWB holster and spare mag. Day 2: Ruger LCP .380ACP in OWB Day 3,4,5: NAA Revolver .22WMR in neck holster
  16. Just few observations re today. I knocked on over a hundred doors and got 25 signatures. Most were not home or did not want to answer the door for a guy with a clipboard in his hand (I may rethink using one next time). Of those that answered 80% signed. Of the 20% who did not Only two seemed aware of our mission the rest were just to busy to bother. I simple stated we were not happy with the senate leadership and the direction NJ was heading. My examples were higher taxes, corps exiting NJ and the schools focusing on standard test scores not our children's eduction. I had my daughter with me... I think that help soften the approach. Sever people commented how wonderful if was to be getting them involved... Sort of like a kid selling lemonade... You just can't say no. One woman heard I was in the neighborhood and tracked me down to sign... ( pro 2A supporter). Not sure we made to goal today but I'll go back again... It is just a numbers game. Great day. Great interactions great exercise.... What was your experience like?
  17. I made it... Pic of me, kids and "Mr. Gun for Hire". Say hello if u are here... I know a lot of names but few faces...
  18. The Recall Sweeney Day of Action will be held at: The Washington 194 Fries Mill Rd Washington Township, NJ 08012 Continental breakfast will be served at 8AM and event begins 9AM! Looking forward to seeing everyone on this historic day!
  19. Someone should go to Total Turf in the morning to redirect... I hate to say it but there are going to be a few of us who are not FB or NJGF literate and got the wrong location from the recallsweeney.com website during the 4-5 hours it was listed there... The main page does not mention the confusion it just listed the location for several hours and now it does not. Hope I am wrong...
  20. Picked up an RCBS chrono on eBay for $35. Can I use it at range? Somehow I don't see them letting me setup a table in front of the bench.
  21. They said the would post/email detail 24-48hours in advance... They don't want to give our enemy's to much info in advance to try and block anything. I am bringing my 13yr old daughter and 15yr old son. It is there Fathers Day present to me. My wife may end up coming as well so we can work both sides of the street at once...
  22. I got mine in about 10 days from when I flew down... ( I should of said "proud owner to be")
  23. The instructor(Jason) said everything went well yesterday. "Junior" flew down to TX and got back to his flight in plenty of time. He is now a proud Texas CCW holder. Hopefully he will give an update. Jason is 2 for 2 getting it done same day... Start booking those flights....
