  1. +1 Wojo That's my main conflict. My wardrobe alone gives it away. As does my kid's, my son often wears an FN "Distinct Advantage" t-shirt or his ANJRPC t to school. As long as you, as a responsible Homo Sapiens, keep everything locked in safes then I have nothing to hide.
  2. I posted about this dilemma in another thread. Almost simultaneously. We must be having the same doubts. I agree with most here and it has to be thoughtful. I used to show off my small collection to new friends. But no more. Now I'm worried about some liberal teacher making a big deal about an off-hand statement by one of my kids. It is not scandalous to my kids for them to spend a day with their .22s and then cleaning them. It may be for one of their teachers. God-forbid this healthcare crap empowers doctors with Stazi-like powers. I live in one of the few republican districts in this state. Rural and full of hunters. So I may be over thinking it. Thank the fates I don't live in jersey city. Thanks for the insight, fellas...
  3. +1 Peltor. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  4. "Regardless of caliber" Why the hell would that be in there. It's like a tragic game of chutes and ladders. Looks like some fine people will have some very expensive door stops. I hate this.
  5. Wow. My heart goes out to you and your family. Hope you find the miscreant.
  6. I stand corrected. I guess Chairman Mao must have really made an impact during the incumbent's formative years.
  7. On average I shoot my ar-50 once a month at the 300yd range at cherry hill. Hornady a-max <$60/10 and that's pretty much the best short of thunderbird. (Not including meticulously loaded hand loads.) Unfortunately on a shark hunting expedition the rifle fell off the side of the boat out by the canyon. Miss her. As for crimes theoretically stymied by this absurd piece of "legislation" I am sure there has never been a crime committed in the US with a .50 BMG. I guess there must be two man teams of gangbangers running all over Camden Newark and all the other garden spots of the garden state, with Barretts, Ferrets and AR-50s holding up bodegas. More people have been killed by 70+ year old drivers in BLUE cars. But I'm ranting.
  8. Insanity. We are so removed from the country our founders imagined, it is like a different planet.
  9. How's about join the FCSA. very active and a nice mag. www.fcsa.org
  10. Or go see the "show your dog" thread in the hunting forum. It's calming.
  11. Hey, we espouse freedoms. The least we can do is understand each other. Lack of understanding is what we get from our opponents. There's threats of armed revolt. And writing letters. There are people enough for both. Last thing we need is rage against each other. How about taking out some frustration posting on cryan's fb page?
  12. "I am a kind of paranoid in reverse. I suspect people of plotting to make me happy." J. D. Salinger
  13. ^^^this^^^ Absolutely correct. We spent over a year "schutzhund" training and professional protection training. And only scratched the surface. Picking up again this summer. He's gone to cherry ridge since he was a puppy so gun fire does not startle him. Definitely a responsibility. Like owning a gun...
  14. Great topic. More should employ the services of a dog. Anyone looking to do harm would move on to another house when they hear barking. Just like any defense, I do recommend training, however. This is Bruno, my 100+ pound long-hair German Shepard. . Unbiased and unflinching. If he doesn't know you, he doesn't like you. Unless properly introduced, of course. He will gladly give his life for my kids without a second's notice. Can't say enough.
  15. If I remember correctly, after attending several briefings, no projectiles(any caliber) with paint on the tip of any color. Just in case. You may take the suggestion of reloading, save a ton, better product. And at least for me, the larger callbers are much more equitable with time spent reloading vs. time spent firing those rounds. In the case of the 50, it may take me about the same time to produce a quality round in my basement as it does to take a shot with that round at the range. But even considering some eccentricities with high power shooters, we still have a workable location to shoot near-mid-range
  16. I just realized that the nut job in Cali mentioned in his manifesto that he has a .50 cal rifle. Not good.
  17. +1 I use the Hornady a-max loads. Why wouldn't you? You popped multiple $large for the weapon, why would you use military ammo designed to be used in a machine gun for suppressing or cover fire. I get the cost thing, but that's like complaining about a Ferrari needing premium gas. The beef is with the days/hours limitations. And there are some there, and not all fudds BTW, that would rather they banned them. I've let several that take a shot and try to convert them. Some still packed up and left. Just like black guns make liberals get the squirts, my ar-50 is a big scary, loud gun and some dues paying members complain. But I am thankful to the Gods of Cordite for the few hours twice a week that are offered for some quality alone time with her. So complaining I'm not.
  18. One man's opinion: Our opposition acts like the lunatic fringe of the left. Feinstein would have confiscated if she got 51 votes. Sharpton says we have no rights to "unregulated rights", lefty entertainers weepily beg for action to limit our rights and our NJ legislators trip over each other to jerk their knees more than the next liberal. Yet we must be demure. We cannot proclaim our pride boldly in living in the most free(for now) country in the world and exercising the right that will keep it that way. While Ted can be in your face, he is no more fringe than his counterparts on the left. They'll say anything. It may be time to ratchet it up a notch. Do not go gentle... Meanwhile there was a "significant seismic event" in North Korea just now. Maybe an underground nuclear test.(hope not) Shouldn't congress worry about that? But I digress...
  19. Where the hell did he get a third of his salary to pay for his private jet freak-a-thons in the DR? On a moments notice? How do these animals amass such fortunes on $178k/year? I wonder...
