    Home Security

Years ago I locked my car that was parked on the street overnight. Some jerk broke the driver's door lock but didn't steal anything. From then on I rarely lock my car doors. I'd rather have my stuff stolen and nothing broken than have my stuff stolen and a broken window or door lock. As far as insurance goes, I don't keep that kind of coverage on an older car.

That's interesting. I have often had bottles of water freeze in my car. I wonder if it is because they were individual bottles rather than cases.

I know a lot of people carry water in their cars in case of emergency but what do you do if it freezes? I keep a small water filter in my car but no water.
  4. My wife just gave the green light to get another safe to keep in our main living area.
  5. I know this has been discussed before, is it ok to carry within the confines of my property? I believe the answer to be yes but I just want to clarify. Thanks
  6. We have had them here in New Milford for at least three years now. They are evil, to say the least. The worst part is they come out during the day.
  7. Back down to $119 at Bud's. Picked up my Bud's Type 53 today. She is ugly but but functional. The bolt is very smooth and there is little to no rust. The stock is pretty beat up but should look decent after some light sanding and refinishing.
  8. Ordered one earlier this evening.
  9. I know of that place. How much was it? Did they have others? BTW, that blond one looks really cool.
  10. Where did you get the dark one?
  11. Thanks. I bought a couple of "shooter" quality Mosins from AIM a few months ago so something that needs work isn't a problem.
  12. I'm not saying I believe the story just saying what I heard. Kind of like when they outlawed silicone breast implants because they could leak and cause cancer. There was never a case of that happening but people believed the hype and they were outlawed.
  13. I had heard the reason is that the bullets fragments could cut through a surgeon's glove exposing him/ her to disease. This "fact" has never been proven. As Vladtepes said, it is a moot point anyway since pretty much no one in NJ is allowed to carry anyway. It's not like the criminal illegally carrying would care whether or not he/ she is breaking the law by having hollow points in their gun they are carrying illegally anyway.
  14. I love how everyone compares CFLs to incandescents. Incandescents were the best technology when they were invented decades ago. They are horribly inefficient and their color rendering is just as bad when compared to sunlight. In my opinion, light bulbs should give off light resembling sunlight not incandescent light. Modern CFLs and LEDs more closely duplicate sunlight which is more blue than incandescents. We are slaves to what is "normal", reddish light from a teardrop shaped bulb. Everything else is bad. Embrace change for the better. Rant over.
  15. CFLs will save you money. Warm white bulbs more closely duplicate the light from an incandescent bulb. LEDs have come down in price but are still at least $10 each. The LEDs give off a very white light and most are dimmable.
  16. VA you can print put the forms from their website. AZ you have to request via internet and they mail the forms.
  17. I took this online class a couple of weeks ago. You watch a 90 minute video and then take a 20 question test. After passing the test, I was able to print a training certificate for VA and one for AZ. The certificates have my name and are specific to the state they are to be used for. I e mailed AZ and was sent the application package via snail mail. I have yet to get finger printed to complete the process. It all seems legit.
