Go to USAJOBS.gov This is how the federal system hires ALL federal employees for ALL agencies. I currently work under the Department of Justice/ Federal Bureau of Prisons. There is an open continuous (though you may have to wait for the new year one) vaccancy announcement for Corrections Officer. Here is your problem, feds do not start out at the 50k your looking for (most LEO agencies don't) you have to work up to it. With the BOP as a CO you would start at about 43, after a yaer get bumped to 47, and another your there is another bump. Now that is just if you get hired at the lowest level. There are a TON of different positions within the BOP but I am not a BOP recruiter.... What I am saying is check out USAJOBS, build a resume on there (gear it to the job you are applying for) and browse the thousands of job announcements on there. See what you qualify for and apply! I applied for the BOP and didn't hear anything for about a year which is not the norm but at least get your resume out there. As far as other CO/LEO positions available in NJ, first you need the civil service test (joke and waste of money) but look at PBA/FOP, they normally have announcements on what agencies are looking for police. As far as corrections on a state or county level, you would have to look up the prisons near you or look up NJDOC and see if they have spots. GOOD LUCK!

Had he not disarmed him, and the kid shot a couple students (not that many with a revolver) they would say we should teach our kids self defense and how to react in situations. This school is completely rediculous. The kid should be honored for his heroics, especialy in this "anti bully" state of mind (dont get me started on that crap!). The kid did the right thing, i hope the kids parents are wise enough to praise him for his heroics and it is nice to see that some people are still raising CONTRIBUTING members to society!

I have sent him a letter as well as the Dem party and Rep party respectively. I have emailed, I have hand written, and though it proved useless I have called CC. I even tried to call in for that spot that he does on NJ 101.5 once a month but I didn't get through. I think it is a valid question that warrants SOME type of response... being there are SO MANY veterans in this state!

As against the bills that have been proposed the one that worries me the MOST is the mental health one. I know this is likely the one that will def go through but this entire deal was rushed and not verry thought out. I am not saying I am against the mental health thing, I just think it needs to be looked into MUCH more deeply. Here is my point... I am a combat veteran with a tour in Afghanistan. I did my time and am glad to be out of that hell (actually the country had a gorgeous scenery up in the mountains but the whole mortar/rocket/small arms fire got old QUICK!) I had no problems when I came back but was glad to be back yet the military and other organizations CRAMMED agencies like VETCENTER, VA hospital, therapy and so on and so forth... Now some of the guys I came back with had some pretty serious issues (nightmares, anger, depression). There is a slight stigma about seeking mental health for fear of being black listed, or having it negatively effect the career. It is no secret that service members have enough problems seeking out the needed help from professionals in the first place, now they have to also worry that if they do seek assistance in getting back on track they could potentially lose their 2A rights? The men and women who fought the hardest for this country and they wouldn't be aloud to purchase a weapon of their choice (most choosing the same type weapon that kept them safe during a deployment!) I don't know, this just bothers me the more I think about it and concerns me that this will further push away veterans who actually need help.... War changes a person, wether they are kicking in doors or cooking your meals... being there changes you... I am curious to other peoples views on this from both sides of the fence (military and civilian)... Also it isn't just military that get PTSD, civilians can get it. It is not an issue one gets from deploying, its from a major traumatic event... Anyway thats my two cents....

I honestly feel like we can beat this... I feel that if we can make these politicians realize simply how many gun owners/voters there are, they may be swayed a little. I love the letters being written advising them that we are conected through social media and are keeping VERY close tabs on which ways these people are voting. If these people want to be re elected, they need to realize who their voters are. They need to understand that they are ELECTED officials that serve US and if we dont get the selfless service we need we WILL vote the other way...Keep up the good work and write those letters!!! I have written several myself!

honestly I wanted a NJ2A and NRA membership for Vday but my wife got me a year membership to sure shot because she couldn't remember the acronyms. When our finances get a little bit better I will be joining both. I know the year membership isn't that much but between prego wife and just buying another vehicle, things are just a little tight. But soon my friend! VERY SOON!

This is a +1 for Shizzoizzo7 and her BF "eck". I was giving away 30mm expended rounds from an A-10 Warthog. These were spoken for fairly quick especially since I was not charging for them. I was just completely floored that in this economy there are still folks out there willing to do great things. Just a heads up guys, I am waiting on 2 addresses (PMs have been sent) I am wanting to only make one trip out of this. Wife is picking up the shipping boxes tomorrow and I will start this process Saturday and send them out on Monday when I get off work (8am) as long as I have all addresses.
