  1. I tried the app. It came up that Cinnaminson, NJ Walmart and another Walmart in Warminster PA had .22s in stock. I knew the app was wrong for a Jersey store so I took the trek to the Warminster Walmart and they informed me that their store did not carry any guns or ammo. I don't trust that app anymore! I put in 19125 as the zip code.
  2. Handguns, 22, 25, 380, 9mm, 40, 45, 38, 357mag, 44mag. Rifles, 30-30, 30-06, 762x54r, 223, 5.56 and .50BMG Shotguns 12ga. Those in bold type are my SD rounds that I tend to stock much more of than the others. PS, Just kidding about the 50bmg. (I WISH)!!!!!
  3. Good attitude! Many say that nobody can survive alone. Like minded armed neighbors need to to pull together in a SHTF situation. Personally, even though I have lived in the same house for 35 years, I don't know if any of my neighbors are armed or how they prepare if at all for any disaster! I am not going door to door and asking them either. I would assume most of us are on our own in such a situation. Most of my neighbors do not know that I have guns and ammo in my home, I keep that private and I would assume others feel the same! So it's hard to build coalition given this atmosphere of thinking.
  4. As I stated in my original post. Common sense!!! To have enough ammo to defend yourself for years to come but in reality, if you don't have enough food and water to last for the same period then what good is all that ammo??? If I have 2,000 rounds of 5.56 at a cost of 30 cents a round and a bottle of spring water costs 30 cents, Where is my money better spent??? I will most likely never use a tenth of that ammo in a limited SHTF but I sure as hell will use that water. Once again I emphasize the use of common sense, store plenty ammo and even more water and food since thirst or starvation will most like happen long before we run out of ammo!! Most likely scenarios will last a few weeks to a few months at the most. If a SHTF goes on for years, nobody will survive, or very few! My guess is the guy who elected for less ammo than 20,000 rounds and an extra few years supply of water and food will fare better than the ammo hoarder!
  5. Do you really think the PRNJ is ever going to go through the 10s of thousands of handwritten pages in Dick's books and ask you to give back the ammo? Don't you pay for shipping or a premium to become a member to get a break on shipping charges? It never hurts to buy it locally when it's a good deal and you take it home yourself!
  6. She is sooo not Jersey!!! Only the Empire State could create such a skank!
  7. Dick's has Remington UMC 115 grain FMJ in 50 round boxes for $11.99. Why take a chance on what could be a lesser ammo for a name brand at the same price???
  8. I don't think that's even possible in a bug out situation! Unless you were the Incredible Hulk! Even then, no room for food or water in that BOB!!!
  9. Hunker down is the best option until you can't do it any longer. Bug out is a last resort!
  10. johnp, With this weather and cold temps, how can I have a garden already setup and producing food? Inside or greenhouse? I have seeds and water but no way can I afford to stockpile food for years, I have enough for a short time! I have a yard that is 100' by 50' hardly big enough to feed a large family.
  11. I really think at 10K per caliber, the food and water would run out long before the ammo! Unless you can afford that much food and water, and live in a fortress, some situations are just not survivable!
  12. I resent your rudeness and recognize that an admin may, and probably will move this thread to 1A! This is a question about ammunition posted in "ammunition and reloading". I do not own a tinfoil hat and people like you who do not believe that a SHTF situation could possibly occur, and refuse to prepare for it "just is case" are my worst nightmare!
  13. That advice makes perfect sense to me! But who truly knows what their needs would be since we have never had to face this challenge. I respectfully question the training for and use of full auto in a SHTF scenario. Is spray and pray useful with limited ammo, even if you had 50K it's still a limit? Chances are you won't be facing an Army regiment in such a situation so why waste the ammo? I don't think in terms of 1776 happening again since it's actually a very slight probability as compared most other SHTF scenarios. If an Army tank rolls down your block and stops at your house, shooting at it, even with FA would most likely end up bad for you and all of those with you. The goal here is survival, not dying! Live to fight another day!
  14. I agree with 1K and have surpassed that with 5.56 and many times that with .22s. If you think about a true SHTF situation, I am talking a power grid shutdown, civil unrest, and the other more possible scenarios. Think about what could or would happen! Who or what are you going to shoot? If you used your ammo in self defense, and needed thousands of rounds, what would you do with all the rotting bodies? You won't need to kill 100 deer as they would all be wiped out rather quickly! It seems to me, a sensible amount of ammo and a MUCH greater emphasis on lots of water and food are more key to survival in the long run. Fuel for your generator is also a consideration. Yet many spend a small fortune for large ammo stores that they could never use! Even if you consider bartering the ammo. Unless I knew the person very well, why would I give him ammo to kill me with and just take all I have? I am not saying any of this is going to happen, but I believe it is good to prepare in case it does. I do not have the money to buy enough food for 10 years for my entire family, or even 3 months! I am the only person in my extended family of say 50 people who is even trying to prepare for a disaster. They all tell me that they will just come to my house if something happens and I believe them! I don't want to hear "just shoot them" as I love each and every one! I try to convince them to buy a little extra food and put it aside each week but they all think I am nuts.
  15. There are countless YouTube videos and commentaries about how much ammo we should keep on hand for a SHTF scenario. Being a realist and trying to use common sense, I don't think I could ever go through 20,000 5.56 rounds. Others say a minimum of 1,000 rounds in your main defense calibers, 9mm, .40, .45, 5.56 etc. I could agree with the latter, and even that's a lot of ammo!!! I feel that most here have more common sense than on the Internet as a whole where an awful lot of whack jobs live! What do you guys feel is a good minimum amount of ammo we should always stock in case the SHTF???
  16. Dick's has American Eagle 62 grain 5.56 NATO for $49.98 for a box of 150 rounds. That's 30 cents a round before tax, normal pricing these days and they had plenty in stock! The sale goes through next Saturday and started today. A limit of 2 per day applies.
  17. Thanks for the warning, if it sucks, I won't buy it! Shawn....You got any of this stuff?????
  18. I don't think they would hear the appeal based on lack of proper documentation as stated in the above post. If you refused to show sufficient ID when applying for your DL, I doubt appeal is an option! You either meet the requirements or you don't it's that simple. If the state denies your case to even be heard by a Superior Court Judge, then your case was still decided at the local PD level. That's the way I think the decision would be recorded. Thus, no effect on the state's record on denials of CCW.
  19. If State law dictates you must provide urgent necessity for self-protection, as evidenced by specific threats or previous attacks. The local LE would not be denying you due process. You simply did not provide them with the proper documentation to allow them to approve it and send it to the next level! In effect, their hands are tied! Kind of like applying for a Drivers License with no ID. Incomplete documentation means you can't proceed!
  20. Beretta PX4 Compact in 9MM. With a coat in the Winter, Sig P229 Elite Stainless in .40 In the dead of Summer, I would settle for my N.A.A. .22LR in my pocket with my loose change. That thing is so damn small, nobody could ever tell and 5 shots with .22LR are better than nothing. Plus if I pulled that gun on a bad guy he would probably die laughing thus negating my need to shoot him in the first place!!!
  21. Please tell me if I am wrong, but we are all facing the following, obviously with differing results. 1) The application must be approved by the your local Police Chief or NJSP. The application can be denied at that level so you never get to see a Superior Court Judge. 2) Each application form must also be accompanied by a written certification of justifiable need to carry a handgun, under oath, that specifies in detail the urgent necessity for self-protection, as evidenced by specific threats or previous attacks which demonstrate a special danger to the applicant’s life that cannot be avoided by means other than by issuance of a permit to carry a handgun. 3) Those who make it past the local level will face many different County Justices, although I suspect they all follow the same rules and guidelines. Given the NJ Statute that an applicant must provide what I outlined in #2, and we want to put down self defense as our URGENT NECESSITY, won't most if not all applications be rejected at the local level, never making it to a hearing before a Superior Court Judge? If true , than how can we have a class action lawsuit against the state when it is in fact the individual municipalities that are stopping the permit effort because no urgency was provided? I guess my question is. Would these rejections at the local level, not even making it to the state level, even count in NJ's statistics for denials???
  22. I bought 2 boxes of .556 at Dick's in Deptford, NJ.2 days ago.The kid just handed it to me. I then asked for a box of 9mm and he asked for my FPID to put the 9mms in the book. I never showed ID in that store for 30.06, .556/.223, 30-30 etc. Only for cut and dry handgun ammo.
