I bought a Walther P 38 from the surviving daughter (who lived in NJ) of a WW2 vet who brought the pistol home from Europe at the end of the war. She had no FID card. I filled out the Purchase Permit and mailed the appropriate copies to the Police with no problems resulting.

I've got a S&W model 617 with a 6 inch barrel. Extremely reliable and accurate.

Pocono Pistol Club is a few miles into PA off RT 80. Their website is http://poconopistol.com/ Its a year round indoor range, nicely kept and has a friendly staff.

The S & W model 617 is a neat revolver with a 10 round 22 LR capacity. Its also a great practice revolver for a companion S & W model 686 38Sp/357 Magnum revolver.

My Ruger 10/22 has no problems shooting Remington LR ammo. Occasional jams with Federal LR.

Springfield XD 9 is worth considering.
