  1. WINNER WINNER Chicken Dinner !!! I thought that too but only looked at Geisselle's current offerings. After a quick image search this came up confirming it..
  2. I think I have the Mfg. of the HG ID'd as Midwest Industries. I assumed the logo in the pic was just a MI promo picture that AIM scooped to display MI's rail section but after looking at all of MI's handguards I'm pretty sure the design of the HG is very much in line with their engineering style. I think the thing that may have thrown me off is that the HG is probably on it's side and the full length picitinny rail cannot be seen from that angle Still I cannot find a HG on MI's site with the same egg shaped vents. Maybe it's a discontinued model.
  3. Can anyone ID this HG I found on the AIM Surplus website on their M-LOK accessories page? They do not seem to sell the HG on their site, so I have no idea who makes it.
  4. It is your self righteous duty to report your imaginary friend to the psych ward immediately, preferably in person.. If he obtained a CCW without meeting Florida's minimum training requirement, he is in violation of Florida state law.. So, how about you get on that right away. Yes, I heard about that person who defended himself against a brutal attempted murder by a drug user who had a reputation for burglaries, not to mention his association with the upstanding pacifist community organization known as the Crips. Thank you for bringing that up. It reminds me that the CCW system works.
  5. I believe it needs a FA but no shell deflector or dust cover.
  6. The original M16A1 flash hider was the three pronged "tulip" which is a no go in NJ as well as the A2 birdcage. If you can be satisfied with an A2 lookalike there is this. Sarco has the handguard and stock http://www.e-sarcoinc.com/m16triangularhanguardsets.aspx
  7. With 149 views now, I'm guessing there is some interest, or at least curiosity about this. So far we have three R-14 members likely to participate so we can guest up to 12 more non-members. If you are interested, especially if you are a R-14 member, please let me know. I like to play things loose, meaning keeping it casual, but if enough people respond I will see what I can do about arranging a more structured event. I'm thinking we can start out at the skeet/trap field, then move on to the main rifle/pistol firing line for the after party.
  8. Lately I've been getting the itch to dust off my trusty old 870 express for some skeet. I'm a member at R-14 but have only shot rifle so far. How does the skeet thing work there? It seems like it's run separate from the main firing line. So, this is kind of a two part post, first to find out how they run the skeet range and also to see if anyone here would be interested in reducing some clay pigeons to dust. Not sure exactly when I'll go again (was there just today wasting some disposable income). I'm thinking the first good weekend in March when the forecast calls for 50 deg + would be good. hmmm... I guess you could call it a meet and skeet. Maybe even combine it with some time on the main firing line too.
  9. In my opinion, there is a gulf of difference between Allan's case and this one. Allan was basically ignorant and got caught in the shitty fly trap NJ is. The CO otoh was almost certainly aware of the laws here and willfully diregarded NJ law because he felt he is "special". Honestly, I feel bad for the guy because as a CO he is under real and constant threat from inmates or their homies. He should be able to carry legally.
  10. While I welcome the attention to NJ's absurd firearms laws, I think the CO knew he was breaking the law here. This is what's going to happen, NJ will ease up on persons employed and licensed by the state they work and live in so this does not get as much media attention. If you ask me a CO should have a carry license because when they leave work, work does not leave them.
  11. All you guys getting into it with Aurthur Kill are suckers. You are being played like a violin. First off AK is NOT a cop, he lists his range as in his basement. lol that's extremely illegal in NJ. That should have been your first clue. Anyway, a fish that takes the bait hook line and sinker deserves to be caught. AK is ...well, i'm not going to give a psych profile in this person but I will say this. If you respond to this person, you are being manipulated. Just hit the GD ignore button so we can all get on with our lives.
  12. That's a great price for a complete kit. I think I paid about $160 after ordering all the parts from different places and paying separate shipping.
  13. I'm just going to throw this out there. You know those commercials where they say " ask your doctor if you are healthy enough to take this little blue pill" Well, Scalia was not healthy enough to take the little blue pill but did anyway. I'm thinking he died with a smile on his face. He may have been a hunter, but I think a beaver ultimately took him down. It pretty much explains everything. The family is not eager to have his death investigated because they pretty much already know what (and who) went down.
  14. I guess by today's standards, my 77 Trans Am was a crime against humanity. 7MPG out of a modified Olds 403. Gosh, I wonder how many tree frogs I killed with that beast. The fact is, 95% (probably more) of car owners don't modify their cars. For the less than 5% of modded cars out there, I hardly doubt they are causing any more harm to the environment than the manufacturers of the smart phone, tablet PC or desktop PC any of us are using to communicate on this forum.
  15. Dunno how old you are, but I started worrying about our country about 30 years ago. I'm not exactly an old man, at least not yet, but I'm old enough to remember when things were better. Believe it or not, NJ did not suck as much 30 years ago. Anyway, the time to have started worrying was long long ago. I'm no longer worried, I'm frightened.
  16. Man, that shitz tight, bet it shoots good sideways.
  17. Barry is just a Muppet with someone's hand up his ass pulling the strings.
  18. Problem solved, the bolt snapped in twain, ran to Advance Auto and got some shiny new bolts for a few bucks. Wife's car is back in business, wife is happy, I'm happy.
  19. All said and done..... $63 and change with core trade in. Now the fun part. The bolt on the connector for negative cable is locked up good. I gave it a soaking with WD40. Well see what happens.
  20. Just got off the phone with Costco. They have an Interstate in my size for $83.00, hard to beat. Thanks for the help.
  21. The battery in my wife's car gave up the ghost today. I guess 10 deg was too much for the previously owned in Florida car. So I'm shopping around and boy is there a wide gap in prices for essentially the same size battery. I know there's a bunch of car guys here so help me out please. I don't think I need a $225 battery but the last one I got for my Caddy was a dog. I made a bad decision and don't want to repeat it. The car takes either a size 24, which it currently has, or alternatively a size 35. What brand under $125 would you recommend? Is there any benefit to going up in size to the 35, no extra electronics, the car is a four banger bone stock Camry.
  22. Has anyone here tried out PSA's Enhanced Polished Trigger, if so, what are your thoughts? Has anyone purchased the ALG ACT and PSA's EPT? I'd like to know how they compare. I want to upgrade the trigger on my SPR before the weather warms up. Please be advised, I am NOT going to install a 2 stage, just not going to happen no matter how much advice I get. I'm old, crotchety and more or less set in my ways. What I need is a durable trigger with smooth takeup and a clean break under 5lbs. I'm certain the ACT will do the trick but at nearly half the price I have to at least look into PSA's knockoff. It appears that PSA is using the same materials but I am a little concerned over the nomenclature in their description. Whereas ALG uses a NiB or a Nickel Teflon coating, PSA indicates only Nickel. Maybe PSA meant NiB but who knows, their descriptions are terrible sometimes. I will also be getting a KNS Gen 2 Mod 2 Non-Rotating Trig/Ham Pin kit. Maybe I'm not as crotchety as I thought. Anyway, as always, your input is valued and appreciated.
  23. What you are paying for is skill, not so much labor. That's why it's only $500 off for the tear down. Don't forget he has to haul the stuff away and pay for disposal so he's really only charging $300 for the labor. If this friend is skilled then I'd say the price is pretty fair. If all you want is labor, you could find some non english speaking helpers for about $120/day.
