  1. I would highly discourage applying the thermal paste with your finger as there are oils on the surface. If the concern is how to apply the thermal paste. One can use a razor blade or buy Artic Silver 5 that already has the compound in a syringe. Another concern is to make sure there are no air pockets that can cause uneven heat transfer to the heat sink. Regards, TokenEntry
  2. Did the desktop work when you got to FL and it shortly started having issues? It seems like an issue where the CPU is overheating from what you're describing. Regards, TokenEntry
  3. *Are you saying that the PC doesn't make it through POST? *Are you able to see Windows load? *Try reseating the components like the RAM and video card on the MB. Also, try to boot with each stick of RAM. *Can you boot to SAFE MODE? Regards, TokenEntry
  4. Based on Academy's store policy of no physical contact with their customers. If Dean Crouch had shot Jason White he would still technically be employed there. Academy should have stressed this more in their management training program. Regards, TokenEntry

  7. FYI - ABC News will have a 20/20 Special Report tonight about the rescue for those interested. Can't even give the families some time to themselves of what might have been a tragic event. Regards, TokenEntry
  8. Everyone is going to have an opinion, to which they're entitled to. I was disappointed in hearing that Kavanaugh was chosen over Hardiman. I don't understand why Trump had not gone with his other nominee from the previous SCOTUS opening. He should have rammed it down the Democrats throats and taped shut with Hardiman's as his pick. Trump would have had the full backing of all the gun owners after some of the anti-gun legislation or the lack of support for 2nd Amendment he has shown. (Adding one to the list below from my past posts). *After FL school shooting - Trump commented that he wanted to take away the guns first and worry about due process later. *LV shooting - Bump stock ban. *Fixed NICS - Passed in Omnibus Bill *HR367 Hearing Protection Act - No mention of it by Trump, not even on Twitter when it came up for vote. 9. Surfing some of the MSM channels for whiny Libtards about Trump picking Kavanaugh. It was reported that everyone including the coach has been rescued. Link - CBS News article Regards, TokenEntry
  10. I think this was a huge opportunity missed by Trump. He could have definitely have shown where he stood for the 2nd Amendment. However, if Kavanaugh gets rejected and Hardiman is next in line. Then no harm, no foul. This is still a win for our side. Something I found interesting as to when the the last occurrence of a rejected SCOTUS nominee happened. I know things are much different now with the nuclear option in place and that the country back then was a lot more simple. Interesting read nonetheless. Link - Senate.gov The Senate Rejects a Supreme Court Nominee May 7, 1930 On the seventh of May, 1930, the Senate rejected a Supreme Court nominee. What makes this action worth noting today is that it was the Senate’s only rejection of a Supreme Court candidate in the 74-year span between 1894 and 1968. Throughout most of the 19th century, the Senate had shown no such reticence, rejecting or otherwise blocking nearly one out of every three high court nominees. Early in 1930, death claimed two Supreme Court justices. Republican president Herbert Hoover chose former associate justice Charles Evans Hughes to fill the vacant position of chief justice. As the deepening economic depression eroded the president’s clout on Capitol Hill, a coalition of southern senators and progressives from other regions sought to block Hughes’ confirmation. Some opposed the nominee for his close ties to large corporations, while others believed that his resignation from the Court years earlier to run as the 1916 Republican presidential nominee disqualified him from a second chance. After only several days of debate, the Senate confirmed his appointment, but with many members deeply resentful of the manner in which the administration had handled the nomination. Three weeks after the Hughes confirmation, a second justice died. Hoover believed he had an easily confirmable candidate when he nominated John Parker, a prominent North Carolina Republican and chief judge of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Unfortunately for Judge Parker, two actions from his past doomed his chances. Several years earlier, he had delivered a strongly anti-labor opinion that infuriated the American Federation of Labor. The NAACP also joined the opposition in response to remarks Parker had made a decade before. In the midst of a 1920 campaign for governor of North Carolina, Parker had responded to a race-baiting prediction by his opponents that, if elected, he would encourage political participation by black citizens. “The participation of the Negro in politics,” said Parker, “is a source of evil and danger to both races and is not desired by the wise men in either race or by the Republican Party of North Carolina.” That comment, his anti-labor opinion, and senatorial resentment against the Hoover administration, led to his rejection by a vote of 39 to 41. Hoover’s next nominee, Owen Roberts, cleared the Senate without controversy. Over the following 38 years, until 1968, the Senate approved all high court nominees, conducting roll-call votes on only seven of 24 candidates. Regards, TokenEntry
  11. If Hardiman was nominated and rejected later what harm would it have done to Kavanaugh as a second nominee by Trump? I believe Hardiman should have been given priority to run the gauntlet past the Democrats as he was also nominated in the previous opening to SCOTUS. Does anyone know if there was an official list or statement made by Trump of who the candidates were for this seat opening on SCOTUS? If people are going to argue about this, we should have all the facts in. Regards, TokenEntry
  12. Her dying of frustration is much worse, IMO. She clearly has a bias with Trump and her staying on board out of spite is very telling what kind of person she is. Instead of stepping down with some dignity, she rather opt for the latter. Regards, TokenEntry
  13. How many people here thought HRC would have been our next president? I did because of the MSM reporting. Right now, someone should check on Ginsburg residence to see if she is still breathing after this announcement. It's still a win for our side but without the ticker tape parade. Regards, TokenEntry
  14. I wonder what the ratio of pre 1986 machine guns vs FFL dealer machine guns are out there. I'm thinking the latter has a larger margin. Regards, TokenEntry
  15. I agree with your sentiments overall with Kavanaugh, but there is no reason why there should be a MG ban in place. *You're allowed to own a machine gun, but are limited to ones mfg'd before 1986. *Why are only certain class of FFL dealers allowed to own machine guns? Regards, TokenEntry
  16. Some of you guys may not like what @capt14k says and that's you're choice, but to ignore what he is saying about Trump and the 2nd Amendment is a little short sighted. *After FL school shooting - Trump commented that he wanted to take away the guns first and worry about due process later. *LV shooting - Bump stock ban. *Fixed NICS - Passed in Omnibus Bill Regards, TokenEntry
  17. Agreed. You guys have to understand that we're not saying Kavanaugh is a bad pick, but Hardiman would have been the better choice. I guess we'll have to wait on Ginsburg replacement to see how this will play out. Regards, TokenEntry
  18. Hopefully, that isn't the case with Kavanaugh. Definitely, Hardiman would have been a better pick where we can reclaim our 2nd Amendment Rights back instead of further encroachment is halted. I could be wrong about this, but this is how I see it and only time will tell. Regards, TokenEntry
  19. I'm siding with @capt14k on this one. Although, Kavanaugh is a conservative, Hardiman would have been the better pick for the 2nd Amendment overall. Regards, TokenEntry
  20. Yes, I should have been more specific for those that are in LE or travel outside of NJ frequently. I have my out of state FL carry, but have yet to make use of it. Regards, TokenEntry
  21. As per the title, how many guns are part of your CCW rotation? For those that carry on a frequent basis, I'd like to know your insight on the following . . . *What caliber are these guns in your rotation? *Do you feel compromised using a specific gun because of the attire you're wearing? *Do you switch between IWB and OWB carry? Regards, TokenEntry
  22. @High Exposure Appreciate you sharing the white paper by Sage Dynamics. I had just finished reading the other half today. Being that I'm a civie a few questions I have for you and anyone else who can answer. *Why allow other brands than the top two mfg's, Trijicon and Leupold, be listed as options? *Why go with a large city like Houston vs a smaller city for testing RDS? Political decision maybe? *Do you think long time veterans in LE will be opting for RDS? Regards, TokenEntry
  23. Saw this over on Texas Gun Talk today. From reading the article, seems you are limited to the firearm mfg., completion of training course, and it comes out of pocket. Copy and paste of article below with link. Link - TFB article Houston PD: Pistol Red Dot Sights Approved For Duty Use Photo Credit: Glock In what may be the largest adoption of red dot sights on pistols to date, the Houston Police Department has issued a letter to sworn officers approving the optics for duty use. The approval comes along with some common-sense caveats; a Safariland level III Holster must be used, optics-ready pistols from specified manufacturers and the completion of an eight hour training course prior to putting the RDS into service. Along with the details of the approved manufacturers comes an important stipulation: milled slides are not allowed. Personnel must buy a factory-ready gun capable of accepting red dot sights. In addition, officers must have back up iron sights installed either in the form of suppressor height sights or the Leupold’s rear sight attachment. Follow the The Firearm Blog News Channel The move towards the use of micro red dot sights by military and law enforcement has been gaining steam in the past few years with special teams and units being allowed to field the technology on a more case-by-case process. With more than 5,000 officers on staff Houston PD is set to take the lead on electronic sight use in U.S. law enforcement. The resulting data from required qualifications (scores using a red dot versus irons), fielding (models, mechanical/electronic failures) battery life and other variables will be important to law enforcement and civilian shooters alike. Real-world field testing is invaluable when it comes to picking the best guns, sights, holsters and related gear. Let’s hope that Houston PD is willing to share sanitized data (hint: call me). Houston PD: Pistol Red Dot Sights Approved For Duty Use To all classified personnel: The department has approved the use of Red Dot Sights (RDS) for pistols. In order for an officer to carry the RDS on their primary weapon they must meet the following requirements: Safariland Level III 6360RDS Holster with primary weapon with RDS. Manufactured weapon with slide cutout mount ready to accept RDS (i.e. Glock 17 MOS, Glock 19 MOS, Smith and Wesson M&P C.O.R.E., Sig Sauer Rx line) Aftermarket milled slides are prohibited. Specialized units (i.e. SWAT and Narcotics) are exempt. Iron Sights are required (i.e. Suppressor Sights or Leupold Rear Sight attachment) Red Dot System must be one of the following : Trijicon Leupold Sig Sauer Burris Vortex Shield Complete an 8 hour training course and qualify with their weapon using the RDS prior to carrying the weapon. Classes will commence in September 2018. Shooting medals will NOT be awarded for RDS weapons. All RDS systems and holster will be purchased by the individual officer. Reimbursement requests will not be authorized. Regards, TokenEntry
