  1. To be clear, long arms are not registered in NJ if brought in from another state *if you didn't voluntarily admit to their ownership at your local municipality*. They are also not going to be registered to you if you purchased them privately, unless again you voluntarily report their purchase to your municipality.
  2. Yeah SGammo has definitely been hard to beat, especially when ordering a few thousand at a time as they combine shipping. Only place i've found cheaper was when i ordered 200 rds of cheapo steel cased wolf 30-06 (Was cheaper to buy from a place with free shipping), and i forgot where i bought that. Something with an N. Last order was half thru SG (New ammo) and a bunch of misc reman and new 9mm, 45, 223 @ Freedommunitions with their sale.
  3. Thanks for the info guys. Definitely going to try and locate the Cabelas there. Think they would sell to NJ residents way out there? Hahaha. Weber grill restaurant sounds cool, too. Wonder what the Cabelas is like there. Only one i've been to is the one in PA.
  4. Will save a few websites on my phone and check them while i'm in Michigan. May blow a ton more money on Ammunition if the prices are right just to keep in anticipation of huge shortages and the prices skyrocketing.
  5. We hit up the Ford Museum and village last time we were there; the weather for this weekend is looking terrible and 85 degrees (and probably very humid), so that is probably going to be a no-go with my 9-10 month old. Was definitely cool to visit, because my 2011 f150 was born there and i got to take it back, haha. We're going to do the indoor part of the museum for sure, though. Spent some time in detroit, as well, as the party was in a really high end hotel there, and as a huge group we went to a few restaurants and taverns in the area. That being said, i have no intention of taking my daughter into Detroit as i am unfamiliar with the bad and not-as-bad area's. Google says Chicago is about 4 hours, which i don't mind doing; i Figure i'd rather spend an extra day or 2 in the area while i'm already that far out and see what i want to see rather than spending the time and money to drive right past Michigan to see Chicago, say, next year. Thats just an example though; i don't really like cities. At all. I like Nature and peace and quiet. Other than when i'm shooting. I'd like to see what National/state parks they have there.
  6. My thought exactly. And the fact of the matter is, if our economy is so tanked that people are going to actually need their nickles for their scrap value, the last thing we'll need to be worried about is scrap metal prices, because thatll probably be the EOTW/WW3. I Think i'd rather invest in Ammo. Besides, if i can find more ammo for 25.2 cents a piece reloaded (a bit more for new), ammo prices are only going up (especially with this upcoming election). I'll probably put a few grand into ammo and just store that. It sure as hell ain't gettin cheaper if scrap prices dropping barely did anything to it.
  7. As the title suggests, heading to Michigan this weekend to visit the fiance's extended family and so that they can meet our daughter. Other than the Ford Museum which i intend on visiting again this year, any suggestions? I've been looking for rainy weather stuff, as the weather appears to be iffy at the moment for that region. Don't mind driving a bit; was thinking about going further west for a day and visiting Chicago. I'm 22 and other than some trips to Upstate NY and Eastern PA to shoot, i haven't really been anywhere, but would like to start traveling a bit more.. Been to a few states but am too young to remember them, and the last time i saw my family in Israel was 9-10 years ago. I intend on visiting Gettysburg this summer, for sure, because it's so close, and would like to take a trip to VA/DE this summer as well, depending on how things are going. Plan is to leave late thursday and leave MI on Monday, but i am fairly flexible as i am currently self employed. Will be taking her Kia Soul so driving isn't as much of an issue as it was last time when we took my F150. Last time we were there, we didn't really do much as we were there for a family occasion. I'd like to see at least one of the great lakes, this time and a lot more of Michigan. Will be taking 80 thru PA & OH into MI.
  8. By the way, just a thought but if people are storing Nickles to maintain the value of their money..... Why not ammo? It is made of Brass and Copper, and if SHTF and we're talking end of the world scenarios, as we would see if it got to the point where we were melting down nickel to scrap, wouldn't the Ammunition serve a dual purpose, whether it was scrapped for metal or used in a firearm? Imagine a character were to walk up to Rick in TWD and offer him cases of ammunition... It'd certainly come in handy much more so than a few nickles. Just a thought. Please chime in; Contemplating buying up a ton of ammunition now as soon as i find a good sale (maybe this weekend).
  9. Thinking of picking up a handgun. If you've been around i'm sure youve seen my post looking for a 9mm. Anyone know if there are a lot of sales on Firearms? This time last year i didn't have my FID so i'm not sure. I'll keep an eye out on buds gun hut but i wont be in NJ this weekend so i cant check out local shops :/. If i found a good deal i'd probably snag another rifle too.. IF. Thanks
  10. Its a matter of luck/waiting it out until you snag a deal.. Sign up for email updates to a lot of the major sites; I Caught freedommunitions.com on a sale and got 10-15% off all of my ammo PLUS free shipping... 25.2 cents per round, shipped to my door for free, for ANY quantity (ordered 1,000; should have ordered more) for reloaded .223. Was worried as i've never shot reloads but these things are as new as the new ammo i purchased from them, as well. SGammo is another big supplier for me. Purchased 1200 rds of IMI 556 from them, as well. Freedommunitions may be doing another sale for memorial day weekend. I haven't shot TOO much but no issues so far with the ~150 rds of .223 and 50 or so rounds of .45 i shot. 223 was reloaded, 45 was new.
  11. Regarding Nickel not being worth it to melt down, keep in mind due to those who control the price of metals, ALL Scrap metal is down right now. So yes, right now a nickel isn't worth a nickel, BUT, when scrap was at its normal prices, it certainly was. Everything is nearly half what it was. Steel is 3-4$/100 and not so long ago i was getting 8-9$/100. Brass was 2$/lb, Copper nearly 3$/lb, IIRC.. All are down 30-35% give or take some.. If SHTF, though, that copper can be useful for the creation of bullets and what not. In theory, at least. We'll see what happens in TWD when they finally get that ammunition factory going, assuming they don't all get killed.
  12. Some damn ground hog ate all the cabbage and broccoli that i had planted. Wasn't sure what it was doing the damage til she spotted it the other day. Was about 5 seconds away from grabbing the bow i keep at her house and putting a field tip through the damn thing, haha. Ended up putting a construction type plastic fence around it just to see if it'd help. Seems to be working.... for now... but it went and ate the cucumber plants instead. Will have to fence in the other garden bed i have as well.
  13. Should have got the dog in a choke hold and beat the damn thing to death. Consult a lawyer. Sue the owner into oblivion. If a lesbian couple can win 6 figures for being mentally raped because a religious baker wouldn't make them a wedding cake, you should be able to get much more than that!
  14. Yep. The next few years of elections will basically dictate whether our rights are restricted into oblivion or not.
  15. Might be a dumb question, but what if there are 2+ bad doods. Or you are hit out of nowhere and miss the shot for some reason?
  16. Woodbridge. Spend time often enough in East brunswick and occasionally work in Newark. I'll have to try the heat and pb blaster. I should have a soldering iron and a pencil torch. Ill try one of those. Bolt doesnt HAVE to come off, i just wanted to be thorough and clean it up as ive heard of the fine parts rusting if improperly maintained, and im the kinda guy that breaks the thing down to bare pieces after each trip to the range. Not a huge deal, its a popular enough rifle that i can replace the bolt later on or just sell it for parts and get a new rifle if/when it fails. Eventually ill be getting a rem 700 to replace it anyways.
  17. Yeah, not much to it. The soil there is loose sand, for the most part. They give you a post hole digger if you need it (i bring a little folding shovel for camping etc) and you just dig a hole about 8-12" or so and stick the wood right in there and bury it. The targets are like a piece of 1x3 with pieces of cardboard stapled on. Few different designs, some have targets printed on, some have a bad guy, etc. Just be sure to bury it deep enough, gets windy out there and ive had em fall over etc. Before... the targets are 3$ each. Hardly worth building your own unless you make a ton at a time like they do. Saw people make a stand out of pvc pipes as well. That was cool. My suggestion is to put your paper targets offset. I always put mine centered not thinking about it and kept shooting the wood til it splintered and the target became worthless. Generally by then the cardboard was all flabby and destroyed anyways, but the other day i realized i should put the bullseye the other way off to the side so it doesnt destroy the post, haha.
  18. Done tons of stuff like that, drilling out bolts and screws etc. Big difference between on a vehicle or the likes and a "precision" firearm. Not quite sure drilling and retapping it is an option. Haha
  19. I actually saw a post where someone suggested compressed air upside down to freeze the thing. Wonder if thatd work. Im worried about doing permanent damage, otherwise id heat it or freeze it, etc. The head is in perfect condition, not evem a scratch after trying with a standard key and the impact. Any suggestions on a good penetrating oil? Maybe ill try that for a few days. Can i stick the whole bolt in tupperware/just the handle and such part of it or is that a no go?
  20. Btw, my fairly powerful impact gun was just hammering away in place and wouldnt budge even a bit. Cant break it off, even if i tried to LOL. Just cleaned the rest for now and put some rem oil on it. Id like to try wd40 not am not sure how the internal components will react. Im not familiar with bolt action rifles and had to google how to disassemble one. Didnt get past step 1.. lol
  21. The screw that holds the bolt handle and entire bolt together, no idea what its called. 1/4" key to open it. Tried with impact, didnt work and gave up for now. The rifle is in fair condition, with maybe 1 or 2 spots that have minor blemishes/rust/something. Previous owner didnt seem to clean it very often, IMO, though. Would WD40 work, or no good? I dripped a bit of rem oil on the screw and let it sit like that. Open to suggestions, haha. The screw is on the head/tip of the bolt, inline with the firing pin, btw, to be more specific.
  22. Womp, tried it and wouldnt budge. Thats nuts.
  23. Should have a pencil torch as well, i just dont want to use an open flame in my house and i dont know how the finish will react when under intense flame.
