Smith & Wesson Model 617 STILL on Backorder???

Recommended Posts

Hello, boys! It's me again. A few months ago I ordered the above .22 revolver from Ed's Gun Shop on Cooper Rd., but he says it's still on backorder. Has anyone heard anything about why there's so long a wait for this gun? I researched but couldn't find anything. Meanwhile, I've had to get an extension on my permit to purchase. Blah.

Rose I can't answer why your FFL can't get one I know you are in south Jersey maybe call PK90 he is a great guy to deal with.

I also came across this it is on the J frame so the grips are smaller

I agree with wolfy, I would just go to a different store. It sounds like they are jerking you around, maybe? I don't know, did you have that impression? It can't hurt to call around to other stores and see what the availability is on the gun you want.

I hope you did not pay him in full for something that he cannot get.

Everything I have to order I do though Shore Shot, I do not have to put one dollar down and if

for some reason it comes in months later and I no longer want it they do not really care as they will sell it as

long as it's not some custom pistol or rifle that no one else would want.

Hey, thanks, everybody. No, I didn't pay him in full. I gave him $200. He's been in business there for a long time. My brother knew about him. Ed's was close by to my house. That's why I went there.

I had heard the 617 was a popular model, but this is ridiculous :(

Sucks just going to have to suck this one up and wait, or maybe you can just get something

else and change the order. It may not be that the revolver is so popular, it could be the opposite and

they only production run so many per year. Mix that with the self induced ammo frenzy and a .22 seemed

more valuable to more people and they just sold out fast.
