Sword refinish?

Hey guys i apologize for being ignorant, my mother in law has 2 of her fathers swords that she is interested in gettin refinished,(handle broke on one, the othe needs to be sharpened and cleaned)...do you guys know of Ny shops that do such a thing?...im located in scotch plains, but any place in NJ would do....thanks guys

What kind of swords are they? Refinishing and sharpening may hurt their value.

to be honest, I don't know, im not familar with swords at all. If i were to guess they are replicas and do not have much value...is there anyplace that can check them out

I'd say first you need to be sure of what you have. If it is a ceremonial type sword it probably shouldn't have an edge. Could you post a description or photos. Don't dismiss them as replicas unless you're sure. I know someone who felt sure the swords he had were replicas only to find they were worth several thousand dollars.
