Vlad G 345 Posted August 21, 2016 Try them all, see what shoots best in your gun. It is basically a very heavy caliber rifle so bench it and shoot it at 100 yards for groups, pick the better of them all. Realistically the terminal performance doesn't really matter, you throwing a huge heavy hunk of metal downrange, you don't really need to worry about expansion. My advice for slug groups is to limit your self to maybe 20 shots per session or you are going to develop a flinch.
GRIZ 3,369 Posted August 21, 2016 ^^^^^ Good advice from Vlad. Each gun is unique to what it shoots the best. Something hit by a plain lead slug will swear it got hit by a Super Duper Xpander Sabot.
DaddyNick 408 Posted August 21, 2016 Before you get behind the gun and take the abuse. Lol. Have a shop boresite it for you. Saves ya from getting beat up and possibly a few bucks. I don't think buckhammers are made anymore. I shoot a 20ga H&R and it likes the accu tips by Remington. What kind of scope you have? Nikon has a website I think in conjunction with winchester you can download data and it will give you a good idea on drop/rise of your bullet. Good luck and have fun. It's a great slug gun. I opted for the 20ga because the 12 is a beast to carry and I walk in/out far.
