  1. I picked up one of these recently. Same, pinned stock and faux suppressor. It has the classic "HK Slap" on the charging handle. Seems like a fun plinker for the price. However, it is much cheaper feeling than a genuine MP5. The handguard is literally toy-like plastic. I will research how to clean the thing before I actually shoot it
  2. Yeah, this is after 180 days. I guess I will go through the fun again. Thank you
  3. Hey All, Sadly, I have a permit about to expire before I can make use of it. Do I have to wait until it's expired to apply for more or can it basically be done any time? Thank you
  4. Maybe referring to the in-frame, key-locking feature you would see over the cylinder release. Congrats, that's gorgeous. Love S&W revolvers
  5. Thank you! Very helpful information I have actually been practicing with some 12 Gauge snap caps. Trying to master loading a second round without getting scratched
  6. FWIW I reached out to the manufacturer of my other (ACI) who echoes the sentiment that worst case, in the unlikely event this ever comes to light, you can just replace the brace with something compliant. So, yeah. The risk category here for others is mildly inconvenient.
  7. Thank you for the links and the tips! I have a Browning Silver Hunter. Which of these two would you guys recommend for it? I didn't consider heavy paper targets, I will check that out as well.
  8. Thanks for the input Ironically, though I had clays in mind for this gun I haven't actually had a chance to try. Will have to lookout for target loads then as I haven't happened on any yet.
  9. Hey All, I have a semi-auto 12 gauge that I bought to serve home defense and casual clay shooting. I mostly go to an indoor range; I tried it once with some 00 buckshot and the paper target was obliterated by the wads. It's still entertaining but seems counter-productive. Should I try cardboard? Any recommendations to get the best experience with shotguns? Thank you for your patience with silly questions.
  10. Thanks! It even maintained its point relative to a laser bore sight after taking it off and putting it back on. Will have to actually try shooting this thing The pegs do go into the holes and it is fairly rigid.
  11. Hey Folks, So I recently followed online instructions to put a Holosun 407K on my Canik Mete SFX. I filed the rear pegs flat on the plastic plate, and there seemed to be a good snug fit with no side to side motion. However, I notice this sliver of gap where the pegs go into the holes of the sight. Is this a big deal? (You can faintly make out the white bleeding through in the image below. It's perfectly flush where I filed down.) Maybe I need to shave the rear bracket down a bit?
  12. A doctor was running down lawyers and judges. "Why are you awlays so bitter against our profession?, a lawyer asked him. "Well," said the doctor, "You must admit that your profession doesn't exactly make angels of men." "No," replied the lawyer, "You undoubtedly have the advantage of us there, doctor."
  13. Yes do be sure to ask your references to do their part as soon as possible. There is an early point where things will not progress at all if that is not done. It's literally a five-minute survey that gets emailed to them.
  14. Thanks for the link! It was super quick! I never actually used a reflex sight before. You can still see the irons through it so there is little disadvantage.
  15. So I was just about to put a Holosun 407K on my Mete SFX when I realized... the two plates it comes with don't fit. Could I ask which plate you ended up using for it?
  16. Nice, me too It's these two. I have a flashlight on it now, so I could at least experiment and see if the red dot is clear with the flashlight or during daytime indoors. I have a holographic sight on a rifle and the target acquisition is just so much better. I'm hoping the red dot will be similar.
  17. I'm in the same boat, 5/6 Here's the MHE form (though I think it's part of the online system now): https://www.nj.gov/njsp/info/pdf/firearms/sp-015.pdf So yes, you have to already know the exact guns with serial numbers. I've not done it myself, but it's tempting.
  18. I think everyone should just get five or six permits each time. Worst case is NJSP gets a few extra dollars. Much better than waiting an unknown time for your application to clear again. On the other hand, you can also apply for multiple handgun exception if there are specific guns you definitely want at once from your LGS. It might add complication but it's worth knowing about. This is done at the same time you apply for handgun permits. Also highly recommend getting one or two long guns with each handgun purchase if you know you'll be getting it anyway. Saves on your NICS checks.
  19. Hey Folks, I recently got a Canik pistol and had the urge to buy a Holosun red dot for it. I haven't actually shot it yet, but do you guys typically like to try out a new gun as-is or does it make sense to just put a red dot on from the start?
  20. Could also get a DE in 44 Magnum. Obviously, 50 caliber is for shooting down small airplanes. 44 Magnum is perfectly safe.
  21. This hits a little close to home. Literally, I used to live in this neighborhood. https://bronx.news12.com/nypd-man-tied-up-shot-and-robbed-inside-sheepshead-bay-home-3-suspects-at-large PSA: If you don't know who it is, don't open the door. I had a HUGE problem at my old apartment with people letting every random person in the building.
  22. You're responsible for everything you put on the application. As long as you are truthful, it should be alright. In general, saying less is better, so long as it is accurate. It's not like they're lending you money.
  23. In general, being "gainfully employed" helps argue you are a decent individual. On the surface, validating your employment and supplying personal references might seem to confirm your decency. However, as mentioned, the whole process is designed to annoy you. The NICS check already confirms if you have dangerous criminal history. It's hard to say what your PD's detectives will do. I work for a multi-national company based in a red state. My immediate team is quite anti-gun and I never noticed any change in their behavior, so they probably never heard the request. I have heard anecdotes of police discussing the interest in guns with employers, but it is not common. If you work for a large company, they will most likely stop at confirming your employment, title and industry with HR.
  24. I do admit, the "man card" Bushmaster ads are tacky. But if salesmanship is to blame, then companies like BMW are to blame for the ... interesting road choices people make in their vehicles
