  1. NJ law doesn't require you to present any sort of proof of ownership on demand. Carrying a binder of P2P copies is pretty much meaningless. You can be in legal possession of a gun purchased legally in another state while you were a resident there, and have no paper trail at all. NJ is primarily concerned with 3 things... that the gun (and any accessories) in question is legal to possess in NJ, and that the gun in question is being transported legally, and that you are not prohibited from owning a gun in NJ All of those criteria must be met. If either is not, then having a valid FID card isn't going to help you. You will be well and verily fooked. However, if the handguns in your possession should be called in, and if the results show that the gun was legally purchased in NJ by someone else, you are in possession of a firearm that came to you through an illegal transfer, and you are therefore transporting it illegally. Convenient how that works out, isn't it.?
  2. This. Even the segment name is inflammatory and anti. I can't see how the rest of the story can be any less. I'm sure tomorrow's discussion here will be interesting.
  3. That may be so, but in NJ all you can legally do is stop the threat. You can't choke the life out of someone (if that's what happened) just because you can. It's no different than shooting someone in the back as he's running out of your house, or putting one in his head "to teach the others a lesson". It may not be the best law, but it's the one we live under. Feel free to try to change the laws, but until that happens, they are what they are.
  4. Welcome to the group.
  5. The way the story reads, two guys killed one guy for trying to swipe a cell phone. I didn't see any reference to any sort of weapon, or any real threat of physical harm, other than "hitting him in the head". Last I heard, snatch 'n grab wasn't a capital offense. If they could subdue him, they could have likely restrained him. I'd love to hear the rest of the story, but based on the article, I'm thinking prosecution.
  6. NJ was the center of the lace and embroidery industry, the glass industry and was an iron mining and smelting center up until the middle of 19th century, and maybe a bit later for the lace and embroidery.
  7. This is NJ, and that's an illegal transfer. Doesn't make sense, but it is what it is.
  8. We're talking about two different things... ME (and everyone else in the last 5 posts) - How to calculate 30 days between handgun purchases to comply with OGAM YOU - How long until the permit expires.
  9. You don't purchase on day 1, day 1 is the day after you take possession.
  10. Thanks, Chris. Over the last few days, I've seen that the character of the forums has changed. I guess that's what growth brings.
  11. M&P, CZ, Beretta, Springfield XD
  12. Spielberg and Tom Selleck both have Purdys. The guns are custom fitted before the first wood is cut and built specifically for an individual's shooting style, and take upwards of a year to complete. They're like a custom tailored suit, and yeah, they're for the guy who has everything, and money to burn. I'd settle for a Perazzi. Glad to help, and good luck with your new guns.
  13. A few of the guys on the forum have them for occasional trips to the trap fields. They don't pretend to be Perrazis, or even Browinings, but they work, and if she loses interest, you're off the hook relatively cheap.
  14. I have a similar feeling about supporting abortion but decrying capital punishment. Wouldn't be government without hypocrisy.
  15. Look at the yellow cow spot in the shape of the pig. Sheesh, do I gotta draw a picture of the drawing??
  16. Inmate Prank Adds Pig To Vermont Police Cruisers A creative Vermont inmate has modified the state symbol that adorns police cruisers to include an image of a pig, said state officials. One of the spots on the cow in the Vermont state crest has been changed to be the shape of a pig. The car decals are made by prisoners in St. Albans in a shop that also make state stationery and license plates. In the 1960s, the term "pig" came to be used in derogatory fashion to describe police officers. Lt. Paul White, station commander in Middlesex, said there are at least three of these decals on cruisers at his barracks. He said the full inventory hadn't been made. He said he was alerted by the fleet administrator who said it was first detected by a state trooper in southern Vermont. Vermont Public Safety Commissioner Keith Flynn told the Burlington Free Press this afternoon that he became aware of the alteration earlier in the day and had asked Corrections Commissioner Andrew Pallito to explain the situation. Flynn said initial information indicates about three dozen of the modified decals are on state vehicles. The disclosure brought chuckles to both Flynn and Senate President Pro Tempore John Campbell, D-Windsor, who are both former police officers. "This is not as offensive as it would have been years ago. We can see the humor," Flynn said. He said the artist has talents that could be used elsewhere. "If that person had used some of that creativeness he or she would not have ended up inside." http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2842042/posts
  17. In this shiithole of a state, any win is a big win. Glad it worked out for you.
  18. Because Liberals like sex, unhindered and without consequence, because it makes more dependent Liberals, and they hate guns because they represent freedom and not dependence. Easy answer.
  19. A fitting and accurate analogy. That's the very definition of how NJ is different.
  20. You're welcome. Just let me know when the BBQ is. I'll bring bourbon.
