"knockout game" Be cautious...
Caine replied to vladtepes's topic in Firearm Hobby / Sport Discussion
It really depends on the situation. What if, for example, the victim doesn't get knocked out and the "savages" (as you called them in the other thread) all jump in and start pounding on the guy? You'd probably have a pretty good disparity of force defense. Not in NJ of course.. but in another state... maybe. -

Gerber Camping - Back Packing - Survival Gear
Caine replied to mattio41's topic in Hunting, Fishing & More
There's a recall on one of the BG items: http://www.gerbergear.com/Meet-Gerber/Product-Info/Product-Notifications/Bear-Grylls-Parang-Recall (just something to watch out for) I bought a BG fire starter a while ago mostly because it was one of the cheapest ones I could find on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Gerber-31-000699-Grylls-Survival-Starter/dp/B004DT6TEK/ Overall, I've been happy with it. It's unnecessarily large IMHO, but, other than that, it's well built and works well. Biggest plus is that it has room for tinder. Needed an axe once and bought the Gerber Gator Axe combo http://www.amazon.com/Gerber-Gator-Axe-Saw-Combo/dp/B004CXWTS2 - seems decently built, if a bit slippery. Lastly, wanted a small shovel for the cars - bought this: http://www.amazon.com/Gerber-22-41578-Gorge-Folding-Shovel/dp/B000WZCSTO used it a couple times at the range to dig holes for target stands and what not. No complaints, and it's a nice small package to leave in the cars. So, in my limited experience, I'd say most of their products are decent. Definitely not high end, but, definitely useable. YMMV -

Overall, I like it a lot. It's somewhat expensive for what it is, but, it has worked well for me. I have it installed on a Sully Stock (http://www.thedefensiveedge.com/Sully_Stock_p/sully01.htm) and after 2 years I noticed that it moved a little. I probably wouldn't have even noticed except it moved enough that when I pulled the charging handle it would rub against the mount. I've since put loctite on the screws and so far so good.

It went up in Mar 2012 (if i remember correctly) to $275. Prior to that it was $210 in 2011, and an even $200 in 2010.

You sure about the length? Brownell's lists the length as 20". Regardless, very nice job. Love the look of the shorter barrel with the wood

Developing story - Shooting at Empire State Building
Caine replied to Caine's topic in General Discussion
"Police Commissioner Ray Kelly confirmed on Saturday that all nine bystanders were hit by police officers’ bullets. Six of the nine were hit by bullet fragments, while the other three were hit directly by bullets. However, none of the injuries were life-threatening." Developing story - Shooting at Empire State Building

Not that it matters, but their SIGs are DAO with 12lb triggers (if I remember correctly). The S&W 5946 (the other approved NYPD gun) is also a DAO gun. So, it doesn't really matter if it was a Glock or not. All of the NYPD guns seem to have 12lb triggers. -
Developing story - Shooting at Empire State Building

Supposedly a workplace shooting. Early reports say gunman was fired yesterday. Attempted to enter building today but was denied access, so he waited outside for his boss. ETA: Bloomberg just said he was fired a year ago? ETA2: Some of the shooting victims may have been shot by police as they were trying to take down shooter. -
Here we go again... Early reports say anywhere from 4-6 victims. Shooter is supposedly DOA. http://newyork.cbslo...state-building/ http://www.myfoxny.c...-state-building http://www.ny1.com/c...-state-building Happened just after 9am, so not many details yet. ETA: number of people shot changed to 8 now.

I have the XS dot on mine and love it http://shopruger.com/LCR-Standard-Dot-Tritium-Front-Sight/productinfo/12902/ Came factory installed, so don't know how involved the retrofit is.
