  1. I don't imagine that I'll be putting tons of lead downrange with it. My primary goal with this firearm is the occasional fun target shooting and for bears. I have no intention of shooting bears but if we get another break in, I want to make sure I can hold off the threat until I can get the 12ga ready.
  2. Anthony from O&A is a gun nut. The quote is originally from Platoon, but woof, does that melon go poof.
  3. I like that stealth hunter but yeah, pricey.
  4. Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm after. I might be tempted to just get the 9.5inch barrel.
  5. I'm interested in getting a .44 magnum. My step dad owns a Ruger .44 with a 10 inch barrel that I've probably run 500 rounds through. I'm leaning towards one of the Rugers, like the Super Red Hawk with the Hogue grips but I'm in the very early stages right now. I want at least a 7 1/2in barrel for weight and accuracy. This is for keeping goblins and bears away but I want something that's fun to shoot. Anyone else have much experience with a .44? I've shot some snubbies over the years and frankly have no interest in those angry beasts. The long barrel makes it much more fun to shoot since your hand doesn't get beat up as much.
  6. And no tax? That's a bargain. I still have about a 200 birds left but next purchases are going to be there.
  7. Matt, I'll know by Saturday...the only question is the target frame and my rimfire reset target. I think it'll fit with the seat down.
  8. Robot Chicken is pretty funny. I own seasons 1 and 2. As to the movie you also wont see any American Symbolism. G.I. Joe doesn't stand for Gov't issue Joe. It stands for "Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity". After all, how can you please Euroweenies without taking a big sloppy dump all over Americans? Here's a quote from the LA times http://www.federalreview.com/2009/08/gi ... e-bush.htm LOS ANGELES--The director of the new movie "G.I. Joe: the Rise of Cobra" thinks President Obama is "a Real American hero," but apparently wants Republicans to stay home. According to the Los Angeles Times: When it comes to selling "G.I. Joe" outside the U.S., the message is "this is not a George Bush movie -- it's an Obama world," director Stephen Sommers said. "Right from the writing stage we said to ourselves, this can't be about beefy guys on steroids who all met each other in the Vietnam War, but an elite organization that's made up of the best of the best from around the world." Sommers, the director of such turds as "the Mummy Returns" and "VanHelsing," is hoping that the film will appeal to international markets, where action films "often earn 60% or more of their ticket sales [but] rah-rah American sentiment doesn't play well," the paper noted. As a result, overseas advertising is playing up scenes from other countries and downplaying anything that could be seen as American patriotism.
  9. I wasn't making fun of _YOU_. I was making fun of the hypothetical situation that you brought to mind when I read your missive. I can tell you categorically, do not under any circumstance take a firearm, loaded or unloaded to anywhere except a range, a gun smith, a business that YOU own, hunting or to your home. It is NOT legal to do so in NJ. You will get caught, you will go to jail, you will be charged and convicted of a felony and your rights to even own a firearm will be stripped from you permanently.
  10. ROFL. Lets figure this out. Buy gun: pleased take gun to optometrist: still pleased I suppose: optometrist calls 9/11: Less than pleased swat team shows up: much less than pleased boot on neck, knee in back: definitely not pleased next 24 hours in jail and seizure of gun: Way beyond not pleased Visit judge and lawyer bills for the next few months: epitome of not pleased: I guess if you decide to stop time upon going to see eye doctor, you could be pleased, it goes downhill pretty fast after that.
  11. Matt and I are definitely going to be at the Rimfire range for a bit. I'd like to get both my .22s dead on. I want to put some holes in some quarters . I can shoot at the Pistol range but I'm getting close to my good ammo. 250 rounds of UMC to go...then I get into the Lawman, federal, etc. I don't want to run more than 100 rounds...I get itchy when I have fewer than 1000 rounds on hand at home. heh.
  12. Obviously tongue in cheek and she's about 9 years too young yet...but boy oh boy if she can do that at 20, she's gonna be a heartbreaker
  13. My mechanic is a solid and honest guy and subsequently he's busy as a long tailed cat in a room full of old ladies in rocking chairs. Probably a bit further than you'd want to go...he's in Bloomingdale.
  14. Ken, it looks like you may be right. The issue is that every visitor needs to be paired with a member that can sign them in. One to One. I'm close and really don't have any plans for Sunday so any time is fine with me. I might have a friend from work who is interested and as I mentioned before, a neighbor is also possibly interested(it would be one or the other, probably neither). In aggregate we've got enough members but timing will be important. I wouldn't want someone to show up at 12:30 and not be able to shoot until 2.
  15. I'd be more upset if he stayed home to shoot. It's a coed camping trip. Ah, look. Ken's going to have some grandkens on the way, starting this weekend.
  16. I'll see what I can fit on Saturday. I think I can get it all in there, I just don't want to rip my seats. I'll let you know if I need a ride. There's also a small chance the truck will be done this week. Waiting on some stupid vacuum canister that's probably coming from Nepal by donkey cart and dugout canoe. I heard someone say they sell clays there at the range, but I've never tried. We should ask when we sign the visitors in. I have picked up a box at Davis in Goshen for $12.99.
  17. I know two folks who got it. One wishes he didn't the other needs to go get a "touch up" after about 7-8 years. One thing to keep in mind, if you are 37--43ish and your vision hasn't changed yet, it's not a good time to get it done. The other thing is pupil size. If you have large pupils, don't do it. Anecdotally, I've heard people on radio and tv claim how great it is. The guy who wished he hadn't done it claims the night time glare is pretty bad. I'd love to do it, but one of my jobs is a programmer and while no one wants to degrade his/her vision, if I can't sit at a computer 18 hours a day, I'll be unable to work so I'll just live with this stupid headware.
  18. Sure. I still need to tweak both guns in a bit better. I'm thinking of stopping in at Ramsey or something and see if they have anything else to plink at. Gonna have to fit my junk in the WRX as my truck is still in the shop. hmm.
  19. Caine, you can also shoot my Mossberg 835. I bought it basically to shoot clays. It's in good shape but it's just "work beater" to me.
  20. You don't need an FID to shoot at Cherry Ridge or to join ANJRPC. As stated already, FID is for purchases only. I moved to this state and brought my guns with me, all perfectly legal. I bought ammo online until I got my FID. Shrug.
  21. The guy has said on his site that he hasn't had a relationship in years and that he had been planning on this for a while. georgesodini.com it's down now but I read it this morning.
  22. My neighbor has expressed an interest in just watching for a bit. He's an old army armorer from back in the 60s and hasn't shot in years. Don't put him on the list, but he may want to come. More likely he'll just want to come with just me on a different and shoot his .357 but I don't know yet.
  23. I understand that but that's different. PA is a neighboring state and it chances are good that other NJ residents had purchased there. As to handguns, no resident of any state is allowed to purchase a handgun in any state but their home residence unless transferred through an FFL.
  24. The reason I ask is the following from the BATFE: A person may only acquire a firearm within the person
