  1. Don't think for a minute they have "seen the light". They are simply mad that Bambi has not yet declared his dictatorship over this country... that is all. They are getting impatient that Bambi and company are not forcing Americans to bow down to the left and burn the Constitution completely!
  2. Relax and enjoy your visit... the LEOs I have met were thrilled to see law abiding citizens get into firearms. Like i said, the second and third time I went in they talked guns, what I liked, did not like. The guy was also not fond of this administration, but I'll leave it at that.
  3. I don't know what you have as far as "guns", but if my wife was never introduced to the wonderful world of firearms I would only have one gun....Nuff' said!
  4. Or go online. All the forms are there and you could have them filled out, bring the money order and call him and let him know all forms are filled, you have the M.O. and would like to meet with him. The LEO in my area asked nothing about why, etc. He simply made small talk, asked how my day was, if I had any kids, if I like the Phillies... Ya' know, small talk. Took prints, said we'll call in 4-8 weeks and have a nice day...Still a pain comparing to other states. ...Unlike PA where you walk into a store, pick out a gun, buy it and leave. I hate this nanny state!
  5. Well, until you are in that situation woken up out of a deep sleep, it is easy to post what things you could have done better. I have an alarm system in my home and woke up by the alarm blaring. I'll tell you, first you are disoriented and takes 3-5 seconds to figure out wth is going on. Then once that is situated there are many things that could happen and we have a plan to minimize the "worse case scenario". I keep my handguns in a safe and will have ample time to simply open it (left open at night and about two steps from my bed). I have three children between 12 and 19 years old. We have a plan that we have practiced that they are to meet immediately in our room for a head count. I grab the 9MM and wife grabs her revolver and stays with the kids. When the alarm goes off we get a call back immediately from the alarm company. If no answer police are sent... However, the wife has her cell phone upstairs just in case. I know some people may not agree with this method, but I rather take the bullet and rely on my wife and cops for the back up over the possibility of shooting one of my own children... That is something I could NEVER live with.
  6. Thanks FFPCS. I will tell you, we had to organize efforts about 3 years in our Township and it is a lot of work. However, if you can get a group of about 10-14 people to meet and brainstorm that is a great place to start. There are petitions, web sites, You tube links and so much more that the core group will be in charge of and then spread from there.
  7. Hello all, I will be vacationing in the Outer Banks, NC in about a month. I have my Florida CCW and wanted to take along my XD9 because I am taking my car SUV that is 10 years old and it is always good to have protection in the event we break down. The law seems pretty cut and dry that I can conceal it in the car (Glove compartment, etc) but what about when I am at the rental property? If I leave it in my glove compartment is that ok even though my car is parked on their property? Anything else I should know or be aware of? I have not carried concealed yet due to the hassles of living in NJ and limited travel to PA lately, so let me know your thoughts.
  8. Now if you can only talk them into signing a petition to make our state a "shall issue" state when it comes to CCW then we're all set. How about start with the petition to repeal the one gun a month law? Once you add the word "gun" into the conversation you'll see the difference in their opinions. Really? Lets put it this way, when I got my FID right before Bambi got into office our local police officer told me they were doing about 2 FID cards a week... Yes, PER WEEK and possibly less. He said they (at that time) they were doing 5 per day!!! When I applied for more permits right around Christmas I asked how pistol permits were "going". He told me they were still going strong at 5 per day or more!!! Going from 2 per week to 5 per day does not sound people don't care does it. I think the total opposite is happening and people are waking up and realizing the history and reason behind the 2A, I am one of those people. Also, the range I have been going to says they continue to sell hand guns and AR's like never before. People are realizing the importance of the 2A and the reason our forefathers made sure it is one right that is NEVER infringed!!
  9. I am an NJ resident... You are saying i can buy a long gun over in PA? Do I simply show my FID card and license? Do I have to do and special registration with NJ or simply buy it and take it home?
  10. I simply leave the channel tuned to MSNBC figuring that should make him leave rather quickly
  11. X2... plus 3.5% tax instead of 7%. Friendly and a lot of USED stuff (AR's, Handguns, etc). Gosh, I think most of what I have was used. Ammo prices ain't half bad either.
  12. I am... maybe you can help me as I have a few questions. BTW, I am a NOOB to hunting off private property: #1)After I pick a few spots out in zone 20. I saw that hunting was 1/2 hour before dawn to 12:00 PM. Do I simply walk through the woods to my spot while it is still dark? How do I do this without distracting game and ticking off some other hunters? The only time I ever hunted was on private property in PA when I was younger and there was no one else around. What is the protocol if you do not mind explaining... #2) Very similar to number one. If I do not like my spot can I simply get up and move to another one? Once again, trying to be courteous to others what is the protocol? #3) For safety purposes. Would you advise tying a hunter orange ribbon about 6' high up a tree to alert other hunters? #4) Does it get as crowded as people say it does?
  13. Thanks... I am leaning toward the "super tuck deluxe". Do I need to get their belt or can I simply use my own?
  14. I have a Springfield XD9 SC (3") and was wondering if IWB is the best [overall] way to carry. To carry in the summer I will have cargo shorts and a "T" shirt (out) with the occasional cargo pants with tucked in collared shirt. In the winter it will be jeans with shirt out or cargo with shirt tucked in. I am 6' at 225 lbs and stocky build. I have been looking at the "super tuck" with combat cut. What I basically want to know is this the best "all around" way to carry for my attire listed above? Also, it will be a mix of driving, walking and sitting.
  15. Wow... that was an interesting read. I never saw that before and thanks for sharing that. Good thing I only bought one box of JHP for my 9MM and a box of 110 gr .38+p for my snub. Any tests on frangible?
  16. I have searched several places but get conflicting reports. Are JHP's legal for HD? Gosh, my first plan of action is protecting my family members, neighbors and of course stopping the intruder. The only reason for the JHP is so I don't blow through the walls into the neighbors or any other innocent bystander. If they can not be legal for HD, why even buy them? They are more money and too expensive to simply "pop off" at the range.
  17. I happened to be Near Exton,PA on Friday and WW had 3 varieties of 9MM, .40 S&W, .45, .223 (JHP only), .32 Auto, 30-06, .308, etc.... Gosh, everything but .38, .357 and .380! I picked up more 9MM... I keep telling myself I have enough, but a little voice inside me says otherwise!
  18. Did you shoot the 40 cal? If you can, get the gun in a 9mm first, easier on the wallet, an more of a joy to shoot. Ditto... I would look at 9MM as it is MUCH easier on the wallet and adequate for shooting. 9MM costs me about $9 a box at Walmart compared to $14 for the .40 S&W. I would also look at the Springfield XD9 in the Tactical or 4" for a few bucks less. I find that gun is very accurate, reliable and one of my personal favorites.... Just my 2 cents.
  19. Just bought two guns 40 days apart. Here is how it works: One copy at Gun shop, one local and one SP. I would assume they have a file and when they put the permit in there they can check it against the others. One other thing... I have been asked to sign a piece of paper both times that I did not purchase a hand gun in the last 30 days. I wonder if anyone bought a handgun in late December of 2009 and then bought another at the beginning of 2010 if that would be legal? Did someone mention that this bogus law may be overturned?
  20. Firearms deaths fall as millions obtain permits to carry concealed guns Keep in mind this is a BIASED MSNBC article. but worth the read. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34714389/ns/us_news-life Waving a chromed semiautomatic pistol, the robber pushed into the building in the bustling Five Points neighborhood of Columbia, S.C., just before 11 p.m. on April 11, 2009.
  21. We are over in PA at least once a week. I ALWAYS call the Walmarts and see if they have anything in stock then stop by if they do. Last several times there has been NOTHING! No .223, 9MM, .40,.45,.380, .357 or .38 of any sort. Just some .22LR and .308. When I was at Butch's on Tuesday he mentioned that ammo will be tougher to get this year than last year.... anyone else know if this is true? It seems about as spotty as it did last year. However, in the summer it seemed much more available.
  22. If no price difference get the 686 Plus. My Dad has the plus and my wife has the 686. My Dad paid $799 for the plus New and wife paid $450 for the 686 used. I honestly can not tell the difference in the two. Same balance, feel, etc. Both are great unless you want to CCW... LOL. Once again if there is no price difference get the plus...
  23. Nice find. I sent them an email as I can't get there until Tuesday or Wednesday. Thank you...
