  1. I purchased an 870 express a few years back. No problems so far. I Would also like something more tacticool , but If I ever have to go to court I would not want the prosecutor to hold up an evil looking tactical shotgun and portray me as a gun nut. Now that I think about it I might just spray paint the whole thing pink.
  2. Since when does the Maffia dress like they are from South Jersey ?
  3. I recently moved to Bergen county and cannot belive the amount of police cars on rt 208. Last week in Oakland the police were standing in the middle of an intersection on Ramapo Valley Rd. Just looking at inspection stickers and checking for seat belts. I know they are just following orders but shouldn't they have more important things to do ? I guess right now it's all about generating revenue.
  4. "Never mind that when someone comes to my house there is a glock 30 on them without them knowing it." How will you know someone is in your house ? Can you see the future and know when this person is comming ? Or are you assuming they will make enough noise to alert you but you won't make enough noise to alert them ? Not trying to pick a fight but we all seem to have preconceived notions of how a break in will happen in our homes. Who's to say we won't be on the short end of a glock.
  5. I would also think it would be common sense for a LEO not to stand so close to oncomming traffic as to endanger his own life. Most cars these days have passenger side windows the officer can stand next to, or in case where he or she is stopping a moving vehicle they can direct the driver of that vehicle to proceed to the next exit or a safer location.
  6. Let's see, I collected guitars for a while. Then expensive watches but pretty much went broke after buying 3. Then it was knives and guns. Now I have a 2 year old and have no time for any hobbies.

  8. I received an e-mail from Top Gun Supply , Sig if offering a $300.00 rebate on their 556 rifles. I think I might have to mosey on down to the bullet hole and take a look at one. http://www.sigsauer.com/upFiles/CmsCont ... eForm2.pdf
  9. On November 20, 2009, Governor Corzine signed A-3207 into law as P.L. 2009, c.163. The new law takes effect June 1, 2010. The new law prohibits the sale of certain novelty lighters. Under the law, a person shall not sell, or offer to sell, a
  10. Anyone have any experience with the flashlights sold on DealExtreme.com ? They have Cree LED flashights for very reasonable prices. I realize they are not the same quality as Surefire but for the price I thought they might be ok for casual use.
  11. Jeeze I read a post somewhere that mentioned Christie was on the Hannity show and was asked about concealed carry in NJ. Christie's response was that it would never happen in NJ. I'll have to see if I can find it.
  12. The problem is we don't know better, and we can't decipher the written laws. I have a friend who is a Superior Court Judge in Newark. Sometimes I run things by him that are posted on this site by Police Officers and his take on the law is not always the same as theirs. I assume all on this site are law abiding citizens and we ask these questions because we do not want to do anyting illegal.
  13. I would venture to guess sword canes are mentioned by name In the weapons laws of New Jersey. A wakling stick is different than a cane usually thicker and somewhat longer. I have one made by cold steel I got as a gift some time ago but wonder if It would lead to trouble if I took it on a walk. Could it be considered a weapon ? I wonder.
  14. Any problem with a walking stick in NJ ? Not necessarily a cane, but a old time gentlemans walking stick. Do these fall under any obscure NJ law ? The reason I wonder is I believe their use at one time was self defense, hense it might be considered a weapon. Would one need a reasonable explanation for having one on them at any particular time or place ?
  15. I read an article in some knife magazine a few years ago and it was not pertaining to NJ law but knife laws in general. It brought up the point that a knife is not necessarily considered a weapon. However it said if you were carring one and a police officer asks why , to say "self defense" would classify the knife as a weapon because it is your intended use. Again they were not talking about the state of New Jersey but I would try to come up with a different reason for having the knife in my pocket.
  16. You can also request a check from the NJ state police, I believe the form is on their web site. If it doesn't show up there is there is it reasonable to assume it will not show up ?
  17. You might want to check the web site of the town where it happened to see if you can process a personal records check. I know someone who did this in Wayne NJ a few years ago in a similar circumstance. Turned out Wayne had no record of the arrest or any charges. I guess if it is old enough it may not have made it into a computer data base.As I recall you fill out a form and send a money order. I don't remember how long the process took.
  18. It just shows how much confusion there is about NJ knife laws. I have no idea if I can or cannot legally have a pocket knife on me. Perhaps you could be so kind as to explain what the circumstances are that make it OK or not OK ?
  19. I read a article a few years ago which defined a weapon as something that has no use other than a weapon. Such as a gun , a knife on the other hand can be used for many purposes only one of which is a weapon. I notice NJ laws do specify knife separate from a gun. Someone in a local gun sop told me if the blade is less then 1 1/2 inches you are ok , other have told me the blade has to be shorter then the with of your 4 fingers. Go figure.
  20. I prefer a 12 gauge pump, NO light mounted. I have heard them referred to as "Shoot Me" lights. If your searching your house because you think someone is hiding in it you are giving them the advantage of knowing your location from the light source. You could also be pointing a loaded weapon at someone you do not want to shoot. I think I know my way around the house in the dark much better then an intruder. If I choose a pistol then I have a free hand to use a flashlight and not need to point the muzzle in the same direction as the light beam..

    RECOIL PAD

I have a merling guide gun in 45-70 which I haven't gotten around to shooting yet. But I am thinking of having an aftermarkket recoil pad installed prior to doing so. Anyone know about how much a gunsmith charges for that service ? Anyone have anyone they can recommend ? I am in North Jersey
  22. I could be wrong but I thought if you get a C&R license a search warrant is no longer required for police/ATF to enter your home.
  23. Angelo's on Ridge Road in Lyndhurst NJ . Saw Howie Long there last year about this time. It's cash only , no checks or charge. State Senator Carmin Orecchio Lunches there frequently but don't let that stop you from enjoying your meal.
  24. Sometimes I wonder where my NRA dues are going. Can't they bring some sort of law suit against the state of NJ. It should not take more then the legal number of days to get a permit or FID and one should not be made to feel like a criminal when going through the process
  25. I have been looking at the Marketplace on this forum and the Classified section on NewJerseyHunter.com for the last few months. I noticed a lot of the photographs have a bed as the backdrop. What is disturbing is most of the beds have no sheets on them, and if there are sheets there are no blankets, comforters or pillows. Anyone have a theory ? plausable explanation ?
