Obama Exploring Executive Order
Karatenurse replied to Metalflames's topic in Firearm Hobby / Sport Discussion
So, how can he apply an exec order, if the gun laws are already mandated by each individual state. Would that mean he is going against the US Const. altogether? I mean how many exec orders can he make federal law as far as gun control without the people of the states going to their leaders with major complaints. I think in some cases people will stand up, it will all depend on how far he takes it and to what extreme he will go to enforce it. Example, confiscation of all Semi-auto rifles. I just dont see that happening law or not. -
gun / Empty magazine in gun = ok gun / loaded magazine in gun = not ok gun / loaded magazine seperate from gun = ok sounds simple, We do live in NJ and nothing is that simple.....!

Karatenurse replied to joe66's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
I have a co worker from Edison, and they provide him letter that states, the finger printing every 5 yrs is required by Middlesex County. I live in Woodbridge, and just got 2 permits a few months back and it has been 6 yrs since being fingerprinted, so they must have just started it very recently. -

I will be putting in my PPP tomorrow for 2 here in Woodbridge, in the past they have come back within 2 weeks. Guess I will just have to make my purchase when my taxes come in and wait to be able to pick it up... -
I was thinking of getting the RIA two tone, Hi-cap model. But maybe also the midsize one, just not sure?

I'm not sure how anyone can read that and think it says you can carry a concealed handgun in your own state of residence under this law. As long as the state issues permits or licenses to carry a concealed firearm, THEY must recocgnize another states permit or license. DOES not stipulate that one must be a resident of the state that issued it, nor do you have to have a permit from your own state. Just the way Im reading it.
-
10) The Congress, therefore, should provide 18 for national recognition, in States that issue to their 19 own citizens licenses or permits to carry concealed 20 handguns, of other State permits or licenses to carry 21 concealed handguns. does not state a difference from Resident or non-resident permit, just states that you have a valid permit or license, either from your state or other states. So I'm reading that as long as NJ issues permits to carry in general. They would be required to recocgnize any other states permit or license regardless of where you live or who issued the permit or license.

I left out of Newark a couple of years ago with no issues, The story goes like this. Showed up early and checked in at Airline A. was supposed to have a layover memphis (cheaper flight). After checking in handgun and placing tag in case, locked everything back up, I was told I can upgrade to a direct flight to Ft. Lauderdale, because of a storm. Catch was that they were putting us another Airline. So we walked down to Airline B. I explained that I had a hand gun. TSA asked if the tag had been placed in the case already, which I said yes. The guy said they would just run it through the x-ray then I would be good to go. Coming back we still had to use Airline A with a layover, No problems checking it in, no Xray, and transfer was no problem. Bill T.

Federal Conceal Carry Bill
Karatenurse replied to swiftcoyote's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
But who is to say that with FLA no longer putting your home address on the permit, that you are not a duel resident, and spend part of your time as a resident of FLA. Would this make you a law breaker when then if you were here part of the time. http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/license/changes.html -
I once did exactly what OP is stating. I locked hand gun in trunk of my car and went to work. Did not tell anyone. Only reason for this was that I had a pistol class right after work, and there was no time to go home and then make it to my appt. As far as breaking laws.... every time I go to the range with a fellow co-worker we are breaking the law, as I drive to meet him at his house, I then transfer my firearms to his vehicle and we then proceed to the range. We once met at a McDonalds parking lot..... Won't do that again!

Some one from NJ, a couple of years ago, posted on Glock Talk about cutting the grip down on his G17 so that it would take G19 magazines. He wanted the longer sight radius, and the gun came out really good.... I have seen where some people have done this for other reasons, such as wanted a G17 but not limited to 10rds like here in Jersey. something you could look into if you don't mind a difference in the grip.

Buying a gun that has a hi-cap. mag.
Karatenurse replied to Ruger11's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
I had an Olympic Arms Model K-16 shipped to an FFL....because it was Jersey Legal and what I could afford at the time..however they shipped it with a 20rd magazine. The person at the counter who did the transfer did not realize it because the mag was tucked under the foam, and I did not see it untill I got it home. I immdediately destroyed the magazine, as I had on hand already a bunch of 10rd and 15rd magazines. -
hollow point question
Karatenurse replied to gimmemym1's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
I carry all my rifles in a soft case for each rifle, all hand guns in seperate cases with magazines unloaded of course. I then carry the ammo in a bag of its own. And this all gets locked in the trunk of the car. -
You can also try Effingers Sporting Goods right in Bound Brook, they are a 20 min drive up 287. They carry Rifle, shotgun, and hand guns. I got my wife's .38 snubby from them and a ruger 10-22. I think they have Ok prices too.
