  1. Well having never even attended an IDPA match I figure it may be better to ask first. I get the impression that IDPA doesnt like to be looked at from a "game" perspective. But it is a competition right? So here is the question. Chatting with some business owner friends. Told them I was returning to competition and going to give IDPA a try. Well, the started to ask about sponsership. So would it be in poor form if I wore sponsers on my cover garment? They are willing to foot my entire practice and match ammo bill
  2. I have shot with good, bad and great! All factions are represented on both sides But I'll tell you what, the only time I ever considered walking off the line and leaving a match was one attended by the Cadets of West Point. I did change squads and the RO's were pulling their hair out! They ended up having to pull the whole squad and give a final warning they would all be match DQ'd if they didnt tighten up right then and there. It was by far the worst gun handling I have ever seen uniformly across the entire group of about 25 cadets.
  3. Ray ray, this is the slippery slope I refered to earlier. Call gets placed. Answer, we will get back to you given. Midnight emergency gov meeting. Amendment to the ban suddenly on the table......and the addded concern of a farther reaching amendment! Conversely, do we just continue to take what our govt gives us? No risk, no reward :?
  4. Maksim, absolutely! DA, it makes no difference he was LEO, if it was Bubba with a shotgun I would have exactly the same stance. Your statements indicate to me your not tracking here. KDPipes correct me if I am mistaken but many Dept's say anything beyond X rounds provided by the dept is your dime and your time, right?
  5. Well if it was truly a SHTF what would be in my hand is.... the hacksaw!
  6. Old School I think you are mistaking my comment to mean that not being an enthusiast translates to a lack of respect for the firearm. That is not the case. I am sure ALL LEO understand that basic fact. My point is that most do not have intimate knowledge of the mechanics, types, diferentiators, history like an enthusiasts does unless they are one. My experience which is probably a little broader than most, is that the average LEO sees it like I said, a tool. Thats it. It gets used within its scope. They have no interest beyond that. Now on the flip side, most of the LEO, state and federal I know are either slotted snipers, SWAT, trainers or operators etc etc. These guys of course are enthusiasts and know their platforms inside and out.(But except for the Pistolsmith for the USSS I know, they still dont like working on their own guns ) I understand you are abdicating from this thread but I just wanted to clear up my intended point. Shane
  7. Blackfox, I remember that range. I believe it was called the Winchester public range. THATS the range I got kicked off of for shooting my revolver to fast!!!!!
  8. I made no implication of improper training. Only the point that those here have a different view and likely far greater intimate knowledge of firearms. Most LE are not like us. No faulty logic here. You are erroneously bridging gaps across multiple points. BBK Clearly understood my point. As to your cover up comment, the POINT is we were not there and some consideration should be given to what we DONT know. I have no problem post morteming the accident, error mistake, to learn, teach, whatever but back to my original point, calling the guy an Idiot is disrespectfull. Simple as that. Its not about criticism. Its about not telling the mom whos baby is blind her kid has beutiful eyes! "propogating myths and generalizations" I do no such thing. "calling him an idiot in public is stupid, offensive and ignorant. -Agreed" In the end you agree with the main intended point of my post. This is the only point that matters to me.
  9. No, calling him an idiot in public is stupid, offensive and ignorant. I'm not hear to defend the blue line or anybody for that matter. However, I am dissappointed by the lack of simple respect. A few things to consider. Most cops are not Firearm enthusiasts and view their weapon the same a roofer views a hammer. Not everyone is mechanically inclined. I know very, very few people in this world tasked with dangerous jobs that didnt make a mistake somewhere along the line that could have been a game ender right then and there, especially when new on the job. What if, for example, he was already wrapped up in the typical LE BBB's and it was no accident! But those around him didnt want it to go down that way. And here we have the inet crowd calling him an idiot publically. Id make a bet you wouldnt say it to his partner face to face, so why would you say it at all?
  10. DA, Really? Calling a guy that lost his life in an accident an idiot publically? 2 Things here. We all know the rules, its preaching to the choir. As for the story, well lets keep in mind its a story. None of us know the absolute details of the circumstances surrounding the incident.

    Kriss Vector...

Couple quick notes. General dissassembly. PS90 is easiest followed fairly close by the Kriss. WAAAAAAAAAAAY off in the distance is the USC. There is simply nothing in the Kriss. It is absolutely amazing how few parts are in this thing. The USC at the other end of the spectrum has a ton of wierd parts that whomever designed must have just returned from an extended trip to Amsterdam! If you are not an HK cert armorer, think twice about pulling that thing apart! NO intuitiveness on how it goes back together! NO I didnt pull mine apart for the hell of it . An agency needed a part to get theirs back up and running so.... mine organ donered .
  12. Of course its ok. Because if your like me, you paid for it  . However, that doesnt mean she gets the combo  Now why I find this thread funny is this is the new safe I am looking at: A Jewelers safe 3000 lbs!
  13. Megaman, that is how I used to shoot until corrected by Matt Burkett. Push pull ultimately causes instability.

    Kriss Vector...

Not the mac. I fired the P90 with some SWAT boys at a shoot house. The P90 has a pretty high rate of fire as well. Yes control can be obtained etc etc but I still contend that burst could be really usefull for fast transitions. I would think I could focus more on the transistion its self vs trigger control. Shane

    Kriss Vector...

Not up on the shotgun meet. When and where. I almost dug up grandma to hock her jewelry to afford this little spree  so I need a little recovery time for ammo. Between this and the SRS this was a 8G week! Im a broke working stiff like everybody else. I just have my priorities straight. No clothes that werent free or dramatically on sale, raman lunches, 2 year old sneakers . Old crappy car. But the safe is well supplied and the Busa's tank is full

    Kriss Vector...

BBK, thats how I found them. I asked all the board vendors first though . When I picked mine up they said it was really lucky I did the phone deposit. The next shipment in, whenever that will be, is completely spoken for already  . Ray Ray, really? G36, FN Scar lower, P90, ACR Lower, UMP, Kriss all squirt and jerk guns..... nickd they had quite the broad selection of really old to really new. They were pretty darn busy too! Nice folks BTW.

Here is a pic for size comparison. PS90 wins hands down However, as big as the Kriss looks, it is VERY lite.

  19. Now to try and describe a corkscrew without using my hands  . If anything I say is overly basic, I appologise. Since I havent seen you shoot I have no reference point so Im starting at the bottom. Assuming your righty, think of your right hand as the useless hand that does nothing but run the trigger. You left hand is the gripping hand. So when you are holding your pistol, hold your left hand out in front of you, wrist to finger tips parralel to the floor. Thumb straight up. Your left hand should come straight back over your right hand. Your left thumb should be foward up on the frame. Your right thumb should be basically behind your left thumb. Your right hand is somewhat relaxed. You left hand does the squeesing and holding. It feels wierd at first but when you shoot you will see how stable this hold it. You should be leaning foward a bit. I prefer the Iscocles stance. Left foot slightly foward and left elbow over left knee. So back to grip, Your left hand does the squeezing and holding, your right hand just runs the trigger. Try squeezing off a round a slow as you can so that when the trigger breaks, its a suprise to you. Also, I notice some people flinch or antisipate because their hearing protection is ok but not great. Try putting in ear plugs and ear muffs over the top to really seal out the sound. See if that helps too. If anyone finds fault or issue with what Im saying by all means speak up. Theres always room for improvement Shane
  20. Well, lets put the weights down for a second and talk about grip. First, what handgun are you shooting?

    Kriss Vector...

So my son and I picked up the Kriss last night. While waiting for Nics we went to the range and ran a box through it. First impression was that fit and finish were better than expected. The fake can is pretty darn big though but doesnt weight much. Controls are great except for the safety. Its fine and easy in low ready but awkward once you shoulder the weapon. Now for the big question, how's it shoot? Well I would really need to fire another 45 cal carbine back to back to determine if recoil is mitigated but... really, these are pistol calibers so I think the comparison is unimportant. What about muzzle climb you ask? I can absolutely say it delivers!!! At 15 yrds hammers well within center mass were cake!!!! At 25 yds double taps to the head were easy as pie! Now I didnt want to go to crazy because it was my very first time here at this range and I didnt know how much I could gt away with but I got enough in to come away very impressed. Ive been kicked off ranges for fireing to fast with... a colt Python .357 revolver!! All the onlookers were impressed with how fast I could put holes in paper in a nice tight group with this weapon. It is very easy to do with the Kriss. Here is my 10yr old putting rounds down range. So far, she is a keeper!

    Kriss Vector...

Mipa, I might have to disagree a hair on that in regards to the Kriss. I am of course refering to the FA Kriss in an operational invironment. That puppy set on 2 rnd burst is actually hard to tell it fired 2 rounds its so fast. So being a pistol round, I can absolutely see an advantage to two round burst for fast engagement on multiple targets. Check out Burkett when he's doing 2 rnd bursts.

    FN SLP

NJChiroDoc, right Church, wrong pew. Remington 700 is a rifle not a shotgun. Remington makes the 870 and 1100 shotguns. (Semi and Auto). They make the 700 series rifles. FN makes the SPR/PBR rifles and makes the SLP shotguns. In shotguns... get what you like, both are quality. In the rifle between the two I would choose the FN SPR hands down! Shane
