  1. The lug is shaved off. It's probably difficult to tell from the pics but both ears and the lower 3rd of the "lug" is gone. There's no way to attach anything to it. That's a trick question which I can't answer. :girlwacko:
  2. When I was doing my initial research, I read that the stepped handguard would properly allow co-witnessing the HWS with the front sight while also giving a scope on the higher rear portion enough rise to give a clear sight picture. At the time, it sounded good so I went for it. Looking back, I probably would've gotten the standard height version as I think my intent for this rifle is more for close/mid-range so no need for a long distance scope. Regardless, still happy with the setup. I'll probably get a magnifier for the HWS to finish up this build..
  3. Like some others on the forum, I recently got the itch for an AR and decided to go and build my own. My only AR experience prior to this was fiddling with my 15-22 and swapping parts around on that, but nothing in terms of full takedown / re-assemble. After talking it over with some folks, I decided to build my own to "save" money and get it to my desired specs. BIG thanks to PaperCutNinja who helped me tremendously along the way... Now some pics - The task was a bit daunting after unboxing the first shipment of parts..... A few hours and a whole lot of YouTube vids later.... Other side.. Fully built "base" rifle (shaved bayo lug & pinned stock) Shots from today with add'l goodies - Overall the build process was a great experience. Definitely learned a heck of a lot and I feel very comfortable now if I ever have to strip or troubleshoot this thing. The ONLY thing I'd say is the roll pins were the biggest pain in the a$$. The tolerances were so tight on the lower receiver that it was pretty difficult hammering the roll pins for the slide catch and trigger guard. Otherwise, the build itself was not bad whatsoever. Launched the front detent a few times but managed to find it. It definitely feels a bit front heavy with the HWS mounted on the forward portion of the hand guard but I still plan to put a magnifier behind it.. which will make it even heavier. :girlwacko: All in all, I'm pretty happy with it. SPECS BCM Upper with BFH Middy barrel + pinned Battlecomp compensator Spikes Tacticle Nickel Boron BCG Vltor CASV-S hand guard Gunfighter Mod 4 charging handle Troy rear folding Battle Sight MP15 Lower receiver with PSA LPK Wilson Combat single stage trigger unit Vltor iMod stock with buffer tube kit (pinned) Vltor offset QD Scout Mount with Streamlight TL2-X Magpul MOE grip Magpul ASAP end plate Magpul RSA sling attachment Magpul BAD lever Magpul rail covers Tango Down QD foregrip Eotech 516 HWS I think that about covers all the parts.... Haven't had a chance to take her to the range yet but I must say, the WC trigger is ridiculously phenomenal. It's bad, but I think all future builds will need this trigger else it just won't be the same..
  4. Don't mean to gloat.. But here's mine with the hogue Ghost grips... And again with a set of custom grips... (I had the Beretta logo inlaid with a gold tint) :girlwacko: :girlwacko: :girlwacko:
  5. RRages.com has 20rd & 30rd P-Mags pinned at 15 rds for NJ. $25. Not bad.
  6. "WAL".. one of the members from the Beretta forum bead blasted it for me. Just about spot on in terms of matching the INOX. WAL is great if youre ever over on that forum. Great resource and he does a lot of custom type work for 92FS's...
  7. Yes to both. No issues with light pin strikes or anything.. Trigger action is noticeably improved with the D spring. To be honest, the skel hammer just looks cool. :girlwacko:
  8. Just thought I'd share one of my favs.. 92 Inox Brigadier -
  9. Main reason was so I could co-witness the HWS with the front sight. The CASV-S does just that by having the "stepped" design. Still exploring magnifier options as I'm definitely going to mount the Eotech on the "lower" portion. I spoke to the Vltor tech person and they said that it would work (installing magnifier on the higher part) but I was curious if there was any "real world" experience...
  10. Hickok45 is the man.. But FPSRussia takes the cake in being over the top. I wonder where he gets (or how he affords) all the stuff that he has / uses? Case in point - he blew up a perfectly working minivan...!!! :girlwacko:
  11. Hey guys.. In the process of building an AR and have a question for those familiar with the Vltor Casv-S hand guard (the one with the "stepped" mounting rail). Looks like this: My plan is to mount an Eotech to the front "lower" portion of the rail to co-witness with the front sight but my question is, will I have any issues with lining up a magnifier for the Eotech when installing the magnifier on the "upper" portion of the handguard? I'm planning on getting the Eotech 516, which I believe comes with a 7mm riser. Here's what the rifle would look like with the Eotech in position (on the lower portion)- Think a magnifier will still work in a setup like this? Or will I be staring into the top frame of the Eotech due to misalignment?
  12. I say 1911 and go for a semi-custom. Ed Brown Kobra Carry is the bees knees...! Springfield TRP Operator is another fine choice.
  13. Mission Complete. Found a SMOKING deal on this last week and jumped on it! :icon_mrgreen: Took these pics with my iPhone.. Not bad for a phone cam..
  14. Jims a great guy. I bought a Mossberg from him earlier this year. He has great prices on ammo too so make sure to ask him to take you out to his stash. Haha...
  15. I guess I'll have to post pics of my 92FS "Ghost" Brigadier...
  16. Hmmm.. I'm waiting for my permits from Franklin PD and have gotten the usual excuses.. First they never received the ref checks (this was 3+ weeks ago). Now they have the refs but I was told the officer who does the reviews is away at school? So it'll be another week or so. The lady I spoke to was nice and all but why the games... Ah well. At least it keeps me away from spending more money. Heh.
  17. Placing an order that's 100+. Would be nice to save $10 on shipping that they typically offer. The code below is already expired... Is there one for October?
  18. Jermz, thats exactly the one I'm looking to get as well. How do you like it? I get the whole disorient someone bit w/ the strobe, but wouldn't you (the one holding the gun) also be subject to the same effects?
  19. I was back in the market looking for a tac light (still have my trusty Surefire X200) and noticed many come w/ a strobe feature now. As club dancing and partying aren't typically uses for a tac light, I was curious what the intended use of this was? Why would I want to create a strobe light effect while engaging a potential attacker?
  20. A friend of mine works for HBO marketing and actually got me and my wife into the premiere of the show in Atlantic City. The screening was this past Thursday and the after-party events were awesome. Saw some of the talent (unfortunately, Buscemi was not there) but it was great times. Show was awesome. I can't wait for the rest of the season. Another anachronism that I caught... "Lucky" Luciano wasn't referred to as Lucky until after an attempt at his life around the end of the 20's, early 30's, so technically, they shouldnt be referring to him as that in the show.. Also, I think he was already in his 30's in 1920... but he's portrayed as being younger.
  21. Here's another question.. Has anyone ever gotten in trouble or have had their EDC confiscated? If so, what type of knife was it? I'm still trying to wrap my head around what exactly is "legal" to carry and what isn't...
  22. "an ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip;" What exactly does this mean? A magazine that extends beyond the length of the grip (ie. a high-cap mag?) Or a magazine that is attached in another location that is not the pistol grip? Like a tech-9 type design?
