  1. The laws made their way onto the books, one at a time. Each time the vice squeezed a little tighter, everyone simply sat back, shut up, and dealt with it. And every time the vice got a little tighter, and the authoritarians saw how easy it was, they did something else. Other states have such liberal gun laws because their populations only allow it to be that way. When bills get proposed, they show up in droves at the state house, or write piles of letters. They make it very clear that they will not let politicians trample their rights. And when laws do get through, they have large amounts of everyday people who work with organizations to get them struck down. AL just removed prohibitions on SBS/SBR. Michigan is looking at the abolition of pistol permits. Iowa just became "shall issue." Although the open carry battle in CA may be lost, people showed in droves to peacefully exercise their rights at gatherings all over the state. Arizona abolished the CCW permit system and went to constitutional carry. TN and NM worked to get guns allowed in restaurants. These are all gun rights victories sweeping the country in the last year alone. But you don't see any in NJ. Not a single one. We're now so damn backwards our state is worried about people receiving historical surplus firearms from the CMP while the rest of the country is seeing a boom in gun ownership and gun rights unlike any other time. The established system won't allow it, and the people don't care enough to do anything about it. In fact, you will find many gun owners from NJ, who support quite a few gun control measures. A lot of them could care less if everything got banned, so long as their good ol' 870 gets grandfathered in. At this point, the game is so stacked against gun rights here, that it's hard to even bring new shooters in. Think about this for a second - if someone took an interest in guns one day, they could not even walk into a gun shop in NJ and check out a shotgun....you can't even TOUCH a gun in NJ on your own before paying all sorts of fees, references, letters to your employer, and fingerprints along with a multi-month wait. That's a really, really big deal whether you realize it or not. That's awful, and so far, I cannot find any other state in the USA where a law abiding citizen cannot even walk into a gun shop and simply TOUCH a gun and ask a few questions. Here's another saying to chew on "all it takes for evil to triumph, is for good men to stand by and do nothing"
  2. Fixed that for you. Make no mistake, while gun control is supported and even funded at the ground level by typically liberal people who believe it's about protecting children and such, the politicians who vote this stuff in and write the bills, the big timers that do the real funding, know it's not about crime prevention but instead about subjugating citizens. Also, another 2 words that are equally as responsible as the Authoritarian Politicians: Apathetic Citizens
  3. It's not an NJ CCW - the permit process is not ridiculously intentionally complex to discourage you from applying. go to http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/FORMS/ ... st790.html print or request forms by mail If you request by mail, they send a pamphlet and book with the application covering everything from application process to state self defense laws
  4. Where can I find more info about this Sparta Trap? Are there hours of operation? Is it a club that must be joined?
  5. The recent ruling only effects gun writers, testers, etc.
  6. I think with one gun a mont hon the books now, the best thing to do to improve gun "rights" would be to use the OGAM bill as a reform tool. As all purchases require a NICS anyway, and you can only buy one gun a month anyway, and all handguns are registered, the best course of action would be to use this logic to abolish the pistol permit system. Realistically, the legislature could be possibly convinced to do away with pistol permits, and instead perhaps tack another form onto the purchase process, like the COE for long guns. Call it the NJ PCOE. You walk into the gun shop, show an FID card/DL. Then you fill out a 4473 and PCOE, get a NICS check and walk out the door. The form can get distributed the usual way just like the current one does. And the same form could be used for private sales as well. It's still bull, it's still not constitutional, but it at least abolishes the need to wait months, fingerprints, etc. "cluster-____" that buying a handgun currently is. The current system is entirely outdated, and kept around only because it discourages lawful gun ownership.
  7. Oh come on.. those things aren't even that good at all. I wouldn't trust the judgment of a cop who liked those. Yeah, I'm just trying to think of something with a massive saturated fat content. Maybe I could just fall back on the old donut stereotype?
  8. Yep. At my old job, you had to be able to lift 50 pounds, able to bend over repeatedly in cramped spaces, and be able to get in and out of a big truck at least 100 times a day. In the employee handbook, no ifs, ands, or buts. As stated before, we are not allowed to defend ourselves in public, our only hope are the cops. I'd rather not end up in a coffin, or paralyzed in a wheelchair, because some fat ass cop didn't have the self restraint to cut out the KFC double downs for a little while and lose some damn weight. As for the night shift thing? Tell them to think back to second grade and bring a brown bag to work. I worked graveyard shift for almost two years, and managed to stay in relatively decent shape. it's not hard to buy some sliced turkey and make a sandwich or two the night before. Yep, working the garage at night is easily the best cardio I've ever done.
  9. No, NICS is not closed on Sundays. NICS is 17 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays (except for Christmas). The reason you can't buy a gun from an FFL in NJ on a Sunday is because NJ does not use NICS, they use an entirely separate system of their own, which is not open on Sundays. Not exactly correct. NJ uses NCIC, however they have their own call center that is closed on Sundays. =) I have often times purchased firearms at gunshows on Sundays in PA. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. NJ has their own call center or whatever. I just wanted autoxnyc to know that because like you said, most of the country can buy a gun on a Sunday no problem. I've bought a few on a Sunday out there too.
  10. Nice way to set up a strawman and knock it down. Hey, it beats chest beating and pretending I'm some hard, grizzled, knife fighter from the mean streets of Boonton Anyways, good luck with your knife fights guys.

  12. "The guy who wins a knife fight is the guy who bleeds to death last" Seriously. You guys are not Rambo. Sorry. Unless you have martial arts training, or experience knife fighting, you have no clue what you're in for if you think you're gonna defend yourself. There's also the old saying about bringing a knife to a gun fight. You think shitbag criminals in Newark have a hard time getting a gun? And even if the dirtbag doesn't have a gun, you think a white boy from the 'burbs can win a knife fight with a guy who grew up in the streets?
  13. Exactly. If your room mate is truly "aggressively anti gun" as you say, do you think it's a good idea to bring them into the home? What if he gets pissed and calls the cops saying you threatened him with a firearm (in reality he saw you cleaning it in the kitchen) This is asking for trouble.
  14. I don't know about all towns, but there's several Retro Fitness centers that have opened up around north Jersey, $19.99 per month, no catch. I would rather have the town paying $75,019.99 per year for a fit cop, than $75,000 per year for a fatass who can't jump a fence or run after a fleeing suspect.
