  1. I all ready ordered the Hornady bullet feeder but the feeder dies were a backorder, so who knows when they'll come in. I was more or less just wondering if the other brands of feeder dies would work with it as I've never used a bullet feeder? I assume there must be some differences in how the tubes connect to the dies from brand to brand, no? Also Dillon would cost me a fortune and I have too many calibers to run. Hornady seemed a LOT cheaper to change calibers in, but maybe I didn't do the math right. I also ordered several three die sets for handgun cartridges. I read a lot of reviews were people would complain the dies were rough on the inside and poorly finished, but I figured everybody make a lemon once in a while, so it will probably work as good as my RCBS dies. the only one Hornady charges more for is the bullet feeder dies. That's why I was interested, and then when I saw everybody's backordered but RCBS I thought I'de save some money and months of waiting by just getting the RCBS...IF somebody knows that the dies are interchangeable?
  2. Yeah I should have clarified, I wasn't worried about the hornady's not working, I was just looking to save roughly 75 bucks by going another brand that I've been using. I haven't used a bullet feeder but my other dies aren't hornady so I was just curious if it was worth trying another brand to work with the hornady. I ordered the hornady's, but there backorder so who knows when they'll come in. The other brand is in stock. Think it'll work?
  3. I haven't seen this one in person yet but does anybody know if the bullet feeding dies from other brands are compatible with Hornady's bullet feeder?
  4. Also lists Accurate no. 9, Alliant 2400, LIL Gun, VIHT N-110, Win296, IMR 4227, VIHT N-120, Accurate 5744, Accurate 1680, and Norma 200 as suitable propellants for that weight bullet.
  5. Cause I have some H110 you can use and some load data from Hornady 9th if you wanna see it. It lists both on the same page, with same charges.
  6. Is 300 BLK same as 300 Whisper/AAC Blackout?
  7. I couldn't figure out if the 5k limit on primers of each type meant 5k rifle and 5k pistol, or 5k large pistol, 5k small pistol, 5k magnum small pistol, etc., last night when I ordered. Anybody know? Ken, what kind of powder are you looking for?
  8. Does T&T have limits like 1 or two boxes of primers, etc.?
  9. The only place I can think off the top of my head is Ramsey's Outdoors in Ledgewood. They have a press or two and a couple of dies, but don't deal with components. Are there any shops around that sell powder, primers, brass, and bullets? I think Cheyenne sometimes has them but there a long drive from me and was hoping I'd get lucky and someone would tell me of a more local source.
  10. I've always been more or less a capitolist so I don't have a problem with dealers charging 70 to 100 bucks for a transfer fee. Or anything they want for that matter. I still find it cheaper in most circumstances to order a handgun from an internet based dealer, pay their transfer and NICS fees and still come out 150 bucks ahead from what they would sell the same Colt for in their store. Availabilty is become more of a problem now so things might change. But because of price I wanted to do multiple purchase exemptions. The last dealer I bought from had some nice Colts in stock so, even though I could get them substantially cheaper online, I'm impatient to wait for stock to return and thought I would support my local guy. Unfortunately he talked me out of it. It's $25 a month storage for each handgun, and according to him his other customers had been waiting over six months for their exemptions all ready. So that comes out to roughly 450 over what I could get them for on the internet, plus 300 or more for storage fees just for the price of supporting the local guy. I opted out and still bought one from him. I'm not complaining but I decided to wait. I realize the waits are no fault of the dealer, but it seems to me that if you can fit roughly 4 or five pistol cases in a cubic foot, stacked 8 feet high, thats 800 bucks a month in storage fees per square foot. I guess people have to charge what they need to to stay in business, but I'm just gonna wait on purchases for a while now.
  11. Unfortunately the brass is here, primers out west. Way to many to ask some to prime for me especially considering he doesn't have the dies for all of them anyway. I have no problem paying the Hazmat fee. It's just that seems like most carriers won't accept the package from a private party. I thought that since there drivers would have Hazmat training maybe there pacaking department could (for a fee) pack 'em how they want and slap whatever labels they need on it and be done with it. But so far all I've been told is if you want primers order from somebody like Midway. There out anyway. Have limits when they do come in stock and also I all ready have these bought and paid for. Otherwise in the fall I may try to drive out there for a visit and bring them back here with me.
  12. I wasn't able to find primers locally for the longest time, so I asked friends and family if they knew. No one could find any. Then without me knowing, someone on the other side of the country bought me a bunch of boxes. Only problem is they didn't have it shipped to me from the dealer. Apparently not only do you have to pay a hazmat fee, you have to be certified (trained) to package them before a carrier will accept them. Does anyone know how I can ship them? I thought UPS or Fedex would take them, but no. They only pick up from people with the HAZMAT training. Anybody know of private carriers that will box them up and ship them? Do their labels or whatever they have to do? Thanks
  13. Where can I get some primers in north jersey?
  14. Thanks lunker, I'll be ordering from them when the restock. Still holding off on a progressive press until components become widely available again (no limits) and back to close to normal prices.
  15. I'm not convinced the drought is over at all. Not saying you didn't see shelves full, but by the time I get a day off work to drive out there, with my luck they'll be out of primers again and still have a crazy 5 box limit on ammo. I'll be happy when the limits are gone and I can go anywhere with confindence knowing what I need will be in stock as I like to get everything in one trip.
  16. From experienced handloaders I would kinda like to hear where you prefer to get your bullets from. It seems like there would be a lot more than what I can find but so far for pistol I've found: High end (expensive) Sierra Speer Nosler Barnes Hornady Probably more... More affordable Xtreme Bullets (Thin Copper plating, load like lead) Powerbond (Thick plated bullets capable of being loaded at FMJ charges) Berry's (Thin copper plated, load like lead) Ranier Ballistics (Thin Copper plating, load like lead also) Montana Gold (FMJ) Precision Delta (FMJ) Cheaper still Way too many cast manufacturers to list I would really like to know if there are more good quality bullet makers that use FMJ for a reasonable price and sold in bulk like Montana Gold and Precision Delta. I have a few thousand of the plated stuff but until I chronograph them and see a few groupings I haven't decided if I want to buy any more. FMJ there's hardly any choices and all the high end names (except Hornady) sell them from 20 bullets to 250 in a box. I need bulk. What do you guys recommend? Also I'm short by about 50k primers but that's another problem.
  17. Seems like progressive presses don't have enough stations. Ideally I'de think you'de want: Station 1: Deprime/Resize Station 2: Bell Case Mouth Station 3: Powder Drop Station 4: Lockout Die Station 5: Bullet Feed Station 6: Bullet Seat Station 7: Bullet Crimp I would kind of like to Seat crimp in seperate operations, but I'm willing to continue using a dual purpose die. Do they make a bell/flare case mouth powder drop die in one? Also do the bullet feeder dies seat the bullet or just drop it into the flare? If it makes a difference I'm still debating between the Dillon 650 and Hornady Lock 'N Load Ammo Plant.
  18. For those of you loading on progressives, or anyone doing the seating and crimping separately for that matter, do you need a special four die set or can you just get a bullet seating die and then reuse your crimping/seating die after that? Sorry for the stupid question, but I've always used the seating/crimping together and I usually end up messing up a few bullets and cases before I get it setup. So I'm thinking of trying the steps separately but don't know if I'll need to buy different dies when I get my progressive or if I can just buy one more to accomplish this.
  19. If you realy wanted to you could ask security to review the tapes. Most assuredly they have good footage of the self checkout lines.
  20. Faxed on April 19th...17 days and still waiting.
  21. Have to say, I have changed my opinion on RTSP. I think before everyone was just adjusting to the new stress level put on this industry. This last experience was great. I found the staff more than willing to accomodate me and they were quite friendly. I was asked multiple times if I was being helped and nobody seemed to mind my questions. I'll probably be back again to purchase another firearm in another month and change depending on NICS. Thanks again RTSP.
  22. I've had the same experiense with them as well. They're close by me so I'll probably do some more business with them in the future as am not big on boycotts. Bullet Hole has always been much friendlier. I prefer to shoot at Cherry Ridge and prefer to buy from Hacketstown Guns and Ammo or Meltzers, or I buy off Gunbroker and have transfered through a local guy. The last two purchases I made through RTSP were both through very annoyed salesmen and it's not like I asked to look at two different guns first. I just bought the first rifle I asked to see. Second time I went the guy lied to me claiming NICS was backed up only two days. After 10 I knew the backlog didn't happen just at my time of purchase. Oh well. They're in a good location and despite a few employees getting under my skin, I'm sure they'll do well. Seems like a lot of their customers are first time buyers and have no idea the value of what they are purchasing or what normal service is like in a gun store lol.
  23. 21.49 with a 10 box limit. I thought shipping was a little high, but here it is. http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=PM45A&src=tpSlrHm
