  1. Why are you beating your horse?
  2. Old Bridge is a bit further north, sorta. Depending on where you live it may be the same drive.
  3. He wants it for free, I'll give you $10
  4. You gonna put your eye out, kid.
  5. Im puzzled on how the cleaning rod is stuck, unless you bent it (in which case you should be able to wiggle it out) or you have a bullet in the barrel somewhere. Out of curiosity, can you see the primer of the stuck case? Is the primer slightly out of the primer pocket? The last time I had a case stuck in the chamber what I really had was a case with no flash holes, the primer backed up as it fired, the case still had all the unburned powder and bullet attached. The problem was that the backed out primer was pushing the bold hard against the locking lugs. A round remaining in the case would also explain getting the rod stuck. Did that round actually fire before getting stuck in the chamber?
  6. I don't see that surviving an appeal to higher courts.
  7. Then you probably have astigmatism, just like I do. I wasn't going to **** about that because its eye dependent, for some people the reticule is nice and clean for some its not. I actually like the idea of that reticule, just doesn't work for me.
  8. What would constitute proof in your eyes? I've seen two eotech's go down in the same match, both on the guns of Union swat team guys. I've seen other competitors have problems with the battery compartment contacts go flat. I've shot one that went blank at every shot from the contacts losing touch of the battery. I've seen people use them on USPSA open pistols (which is silly anyway, but that's different issue) go through batteries. Are they all bad? I have no idea, but I haven't seen an aimpoint die yet, and I've seen eotech's die, a lot. Who knows, maybe I'm just an unlucky witness and my presence makes them die. All I know is I won't buy one. I also hang out on forums where serious people who's life may depend on their optics have had similar experiences, but that is anecdotal. BTW, their website claims battery life around 600h on a CR123. Aimpoint claims 5 years on a friking watch battery, and I have cheap chinese dots, on the same watch battery who have lasted more then 600h. EDIT: Correction, in retrospect, of the two eotechs from Union SWAT guys, one failed hard, one had its ARMS mount fail, so I won't blame that one eotech.
  9. I dislike cleaning guns and I only do it when they don't work or I can't touch them without heavy contamination. For most of my guns that I actually use a lot this ends up being between 1000 and 2000 rounds. I do add lubrication in between as needed.
  10. Out of curiosity, what chamber do you have (.223 or 5.56) and is it chromed or not? My two stuck cases have been in VERY dirty chambers (think 1000+ rounds between cleanings) but in a chromed 5.56 barrel.
  11. http://kitup.military.com/2011/02/army-asks-for-m4a1-in-fy-2012.html You tell me.
  12. A while ago I read that the army was buying more M4s. When I did the math on package price divided by the number of guns they were buying I think it worked to $1800 per gun. Do you think price really matters?
  13. Shane you are closer to this then most, but .. wouldn't the logistics of convertible rifles be a nightmare? Either the individual soldier would have to keep track of his own conversion kits or the armorer would have to drag around TWICE the number of parts, spare uppers, wear parts, etc. Then there is the issue of having ammo on hand for both in the proper ratio etc. Seems like a logistics nightmare to me, give the performance claimed by the new M855A1 ammo (and SOST, mk262, etc)
  14. In my experience heat is not what gets steel cases lodged in the chamber, but dirt. The steel cases do not expand as well as brass, don't seal the chamber and a lot of crud gets between the case and the chamber walls. That doesn't stop me from using Wolf even in matches, it just something you need to be aware of.
  15. Well FN is kinda US based right now, plus there is LMT, etc. Of course, this is likely to be yet another round of "That neat, but does not provide a meaningful advantage over the M4, thanx for playing".
  16. Yeah CDP, I need to make sure my gear works for it. I'll have to put a standard mag release button instead of the one I have, check my holster for light between the belt, etc. Re-reading the rules.
  17. Oh .. what the hell. I haven't shot IDPA in many years. I'll drag my a** over, I just need to find some form of cover garment and see if I have enough 8rd mags.
  18. A control group is a known quantity with a certain baseline to compare against your experimental results on other subjects. For example if you want to know how many blonds have blue eyes and if it is more then average for the population, you probably need some blonds, but you also need some brunettes you study the same way so you have something to compare against. Its far away for a lot of us.
  19. The field expedient solution I have used in the 2 occasions I had this problem has been hit the stock REALLY hard against the ground while simultaneously pulling on the charging handle. The cleaning rod solution is obviously the least likely to break anything (like your stock charging handle or pinned collapsible stock or the unsupported buffer tube, I use a full length ARFX stock and a BCM charging handle so I don't have that problem). In my case both failures occurred during matches and I wasn't going to stop.
  20. The E series is kinda gorgeous, and I hear all sorts of good things about it. If wanted a production 1911 right now it would be at the top of the list. Good for you.
  21. If may 21 comes and passes by and nothing happens, they'll redo the math and reschedule for a further date. I think it was first supposed to be in 94? Only then they discovered they forgot to account for more unlikely variables and came up with this date. They'll find some even more improbable variables later. BTW, I don't even view this as being a religious discussion any more then I would consider Lorcin owners "gun owners"
  22. Ah you are doing it wrong. The way you avoid this is you call Dave over, and you ask him if it is to tame. He installs lasers on the sharks, fills the moat with gasoline and sets it on fire, rubs grease on the rope and he tells Jim he looked it over and made a few mods for safety sake so no need for him to look it over.
  23. If I recall correctly, these guys theorize that only a few hundreds of thousands to a few million people will be taken up into heaven? And its them? Remind me .. what is the downside again, I'm blanking.
