  1. Exactly. Coupled with the fact that all that is illegal is not immoral, nor is all that is legal moral. Then factor in that "morals" are merely a human definition and vary greatly. As you said, there is no victim who is harmed by that Mossberg 500. I agree, that if there is no victim, there is no crime. Also, I'm not sure why so many people believe in the "follow the law no matter what cause I'm a good guy" schtick comes from. If that's the case, then surely they were happy about people being arrested for helping slaves escape. I wonder if they feel bad for the British about that Tea Party? The one in the harbor, not the one with fat guys in lawn chairs. Much like Black Powder and BB guns, do our white knights here really care so much about those ridiculous laws too? Sure, you may not be inclined to go buy a BP/BB in PA. But how far would you go to help NJ enforce its laws? Would you rat our your fellow citizen for owning such dangerous 18th century technology?
  2. I've been told specifically it's the gun. I've had Fudds take a break from their lead sled to come tell me "that rifle's no good for hunting". I've had them tell me I need to shoot brass ammo because I should be reloading my ammo. I've had to wait fifteen minutes to go downrange so a guy could take ONE MORE SHOT. One more shot in 15 minutes. You can say what you like, in defense of the OFWGs, but this is nothing new. Charleton Heston was telling them to cool it fifteen years ago - look up the "Torch with no flame" speech he gave.
  3. Please let us know which shop this is. There's really no need to protect them. Yes, the Mare's Leg is NJ legal.
  4. I'll take a Glock over virtually anything else any day. Why? I'm not a competition shooter. I'm not big on style, nor am I big on spending money. Mainly because I don't have a lot of it. Glocks run great, run dirty, take a beating, and work just fine. They may not be pretty, but they are affordable, reliable, and have a long standing reputation. Sure, maybe other guns are "better" for competition. But I'm not looking for something to knock down plates with in a match.
  5. When I met Ray he seemed like a really nice guy.
  6. And the corners all stuck together from donut icing. That stuff is donut icing, right? I hope it doesn't get THAT boring sitting in the squad car Please tell me it's donut icing.
  7. How does this work? I thought sales of firearms are banned at gun shows in NJ? Do you have to arrange the deal there, then go to the FFLs shop to take possession of the firearm? Or is this a show of gear, ammo, etc.?
  8. How exactly do you stab someone with a bayonet that does not protrude past the muzzle? LOL
  9. 2.0 checking in here. I shoot at a private club in PA with mostly 1.0s and get plenty of dirty looks from OFWGs with lever guns twice my age. I have one message to them, it starts with an F and ends in U. Sorry gram'paw.
  10. I'm sorry, but I don't think you have any idea what a troll is. Posting an opinion different than the rest, even in an "asshole" tone, that people do not like, is not trolling. I notice this especially with "older" people in their 30's and up, who often tend to think anyone who disagrees with them is a "troll" Honestly you should browse places like 4chan or IGN, and get a little taste of what a "troll" really is. And by the way, real trolls don't disappear with an IP ban - they proxy, and proxy, and proxy some more, then they go download Vidalia and torment your board from layered proxy IPs until they get bored and move on - at their own leisure.
  11. Federal Law supercedes state law. States have many different laws, for example some states allow someone 18+ to buy a handgun, or to carry, such as Vermont. The end result, is an 18 year old can buy a handgun from another person in that state, but for example an FFL, who is governed by Federal laws, cannot sell to them unless they are 21. Same deal with states allowing people to purchase, etc. etc.
  12. What a surprise, our LEO members think the guy is a nutcase. Thanks for proving the "us vs. them mentality" to be true, guys.
  13. The NRA does not have a magic wand that they can just wave and make people think guns are good. The reasons for gun control are not always so malicious, and often have a much more benevolent reason, wrong as it may be. Fact of the matter is, guns are not a part of NJ's culture. They have not been, for a long time. In the majority of north east NJ, you have cities from Perth Amboy to Elizabeth, all the way up to Hudson and Bergen county, where an urban lifestyle and high crime leave no desire for guns among anyone besides cops and crooks. I call this the first row. Past that, you have from Edison, north through Mountainside and Summit, up to Livingston, Rutherford, and farther north. These people have tons of money and live in nice neighborhoods, and thus don't feel a need for protection against imaginary crime in their pristine towns. Maybe some of these people hunt. After that you've got the people out in the pineys, or up in northwest NJ who own guns, and are the small minority on the fringe.
  14. bs. The cops always have a choice. It is a job, not a contract, they can quit at any time. They can also join together and speak up. They took an oath to protect and serve. "All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to stand by and do nothing" or something along those lines. IMO Scaredy-cop is just as bad as Brutal cop. I often hear that "99% of cops are good, it's only that 1%" well then, I suppose the cops have quite a bit in common with the protestors then? And since it's 99% to 1%, the bad cops should have been weeded out a long time ago.
  15. Also, a little word on pistol grip only shotguns: The typical pistol grip ones are indeed painful to shoot, but the Birdshead-type pistol grips are much more comfortable to shoot as they present a better grip angle. They also point more naturally and don't punish the wrist nearly as much. These grips are available for the 870 but no one makes one for the Mossberg 500 anymore. I modified one from an 870 - a little dremel work to the mounting face of the grip, and then a couple layers of electrician's friction tape from Home Depot and the grip is actually pretty comfortable. It points well and does great at HD distances. I hear a lot of people say that PGO shotguns aren't accurate - that's right, they are not. But that does not matter, since this gun is intended for use at 10-15 feet anyway. I still am torn though, whether to use this grip or the Knoxx NRS stock, so I go back and forth between the two.
  16. Holy ****, you need to post a warning before you type something like this, I damn near spit Coke all over the computer. Well played, sir
  17. .45acp is indeed a "large caliber handgun" especially compared to the more commonplace 9s, 38s and 22s.
  18. I believe in this case, stolen should be written as "stolen"
  19. Hey, that is pretty screwy! Maybe someone should make a video about that. Oh, wait....
  20. I'd recommend staying away from the Saiga-12 in NJ. In its factory configuration with a 5 round magazine, it handles poorly and is very clunky, with crap balance, and an awful trigger. The fun of those guns comes from converting them into 12 gauge AKs, which is not legal to do here. How about try out a lever action rifle? The Henry rifles are available with straight stocks, octagonal barrels and brass receivers, just like the old days. Very fun guns and come in many calibers from .22 all the way to 45-70. Or how about a pistol caliber carbine like the Beretta CXwhatever?
  21. Hello. My comment was not meant as a personal insult. Nor was it a challenge to fight you in the octagon. There's an old expression, "if the shoe fits, wear it" If people are good shooters, and not the kind of clowns I'm talking about, then I see no reason why they should be angry at me. What I'm saying is no more than the generic "mall ninja" jokes that people would laugh at on any gun board. I'm not sure why people took offense to my statements.
  22. Well, for starters, it took 14 FMJ 9mm rounds to kill my cousin, and he was alive quite some time after being shot. Also, here's a few examples of people surviving almost 20 shots: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/03/nyregion/03shot.html You should read some stuff by Dr. Fackler, he's the premier source of modern ballistics and his medical/ballistic work is very interesting.
