    G19 Question

I am not trying to take the slide off. I am trying to put it back on the gun and it just won't click into place at the end.
  2. I'm surprised they didn't mention Glock somewhere or somewhow in that news article. kudos to the media!

    G19 Question

I was unable to get the slide back onto a Glock 19 GEN 4, last night, after breaking down the gun. It goes on 99% of the way, but does not click at the very end and lock back into place. Does anybody have any thoughts, or advice? I have easily done this on a Glock 23 GEN 3 numerous times. I have never had a problem in breaking it down and cleaning it and then putting the slide back on. Thanks!
  4. If he threatens you, again, keep track of it word for word and record it with the date and time, etc. Keep a diary of all events with him. Also, that type of threat is probably considered a "terroristic threat". Where is the landlord in all of this? Is it in the agreement that he can "live" there? What is your relationship to the landlord? Are you considered a valued tennet? I agree that you should just be kind to him and all. But document the slamming and everyhing.

    SIG 1911-22

The bottom of the magazine is plastic. Is that Dawson site that you found fiber optic? It just feels that if you banged the side of the slide it would break. I was comparing it in relation to a Ruger Mark II or III. It was a little tricky to get back together for me after I broke it down. This gun is a lot of fun to shoot and I think you will like it. I picked up a 1911 holster for mine, too. Just bring some quality 22LR with you. It doesn't like the Walmart cheapy stuff too much. But the Single Six is just fine with it! CCI, Aguila, etc.
  6. I have been told that if you stumble upon a law officer that has an itch on a given day, if your firearms are disclosed to him or her, he or she can be take them until you provide such proof that they are yours. And, I believe that they can be held for an undisclosed amount of time until "proof" is satisfied. Having a COE or a copy of the pistol permit might alleviate that to some extent. I believe that large sums of money on your person can also be detained.

    EEA SAR K2

Does anybody have experience with the SAR K2? It is an affordable SA/DA .45 ACP w/ a 14+1 capacity, and it is suppose to have low recoil due to its weight. The one I handled in the gun shop was a hefty and solid with a large grip, but it felt nice. It also seemed a good value for what it is?
  8. I would prefer the compact, and because what you have said, I wouldn't even consider it, now.
  9. I don't think I could bear that similar feeling and the sad response I have when I think of what happened and then I think of the children that were affected and then think of my own children unless I let that feeling, those tears, a feeling I still have after ten years, and not just on 911... unless I let that feeling of grief hit me deep inside and then let it turn into anger and then into resolve. That resolve is tempered with the optimism I have in our American spirit, an American desire for peace and justice, and a steadfast faith in overcoming that evil. That has enabled me to bring my children into the world after that bitter day. But I will never let go of those feelings and the sadness that they bring. I remember how markedly beautiful and perfect that crisp, September morning was as I was driving to work and then how silent it was afterward. The sky was so beautiful and silent for days after. Now, I am silent and reflective.

    SIG 1911-22

I wish this gun wasn't as delicate as it is. The slide seems delicate and the magazines would probably break if dropped. Other than that, it is one of my two favorite handguns.
  11. Is it true the PX4 compact cannot be upgraded to nightsights?
  12. I second looking into the Ruger. I saw a Ruger P89 DC on Gunbroker. That could be a really nice gun in your budget range. Although you are probably set on a 9mm, I would consider a 22LR and look at the SIG 1911-22. This gun is a lot of fun! Or, I would look at a used Ruger Mark III stainless Hunter. You may want to consider a Stoeger Cougar 9mm as well. A Taurus PT911 could work, or you might be able to find an FNH FNP9 (polymer) but with a hammer. Another thought would be to go .38/.357 and look into a Ruger GP100 or Speed/Single Six revolver, or a Taurus 66. A revolver would also be quite nice and fun to shoot if you could find one in this price range.
  13. I have the possibility of picking up a used Glock 19 (Gen 2? No fingergrips) frame for about $75. If I purchase an Advantage Arms conversion kit for it (I assume that one is available for a G19/23) would it work to make a dedicated 22LR pistol? Do you have any thoughts on its reliability or functioning? Is there anything else I should consider? Would it work well, or would I be better served buying another type of 22LR pistol outright? Thanks!

    Ruger scout

Too bad Ruger didn't design this gun to take M1A magazines. If they did, I would have purchased one by now. I have seen them at the Allentown. I think they were $750.
  15. I would like to get a stainless Mark II or III with a heavy 5" barrel. I am not sure about the grips, but I would like fiber optic sights.
  16. These are both nice. That's pretty cool with the white grips, but I think I prefer the stainless.
  17. Do you prefer a Mark II or a Mark III? Do you prefer the 22/45 over the standard? Why or why not? What about barrel style and barrel length, which do you prefer and why? What options are available for upgrading, especially in terms of the stock sights? Do you have a scope mounted on your pistol? Does it share any parts with the Ruger 10/22... extractor, etc?
  18. Has anybody had experience with the compact PX4?
  19. After experiencing the trigger, I think I want one of these! I'd be hard-pressed to decide between one of these and an FNH FNX if I could get either in 9mm with a 15-round magazine and the nice trigger. There is just something nice about having a hammer and being able to put your thumb over it when holstering. I would say that the Beretta has the edge, though, except that FNH usually provides more magazines when purchasing. Are the magazines for the PX4 interchangeable with the Beretta/Stoeger Cougar?

    Mossberg 590A1

If you are going to use it for self defense and you are worried about recoil, I suggest you find yourself a used Mossberg 500 or Ithaca 20 gauge shotgun. A Remington 870 would work as well. The Mossberg is nice with the tang safety, especially for someone that is left-handed. The Ithaca is nice for lefties, too, because it ejects the shells from the bottom. For defense, get some boxes of Remington #3 (2 3/4 inch), or if your shotgun can accept it, get Winchester XX Magnum #3 or Federal Classic #2 buckshot. If you get a used one, it may have a plug in it for hunting. For defense, remove it so that you have more round capacity.
  21. It sounds like it was on purpose to provide a little sizzle.
  22. Does anybody have any news or information on the supposed re-release of the SP-101 in 22LR?
  23. I would probably vote for the Ruger, unless you really like the S&W trigger. It is built stronger than the S&W and the sights can be swapped out. And, unless you are using for target practice and hunting, as said in above posts, get the 4". I would love to get one in 5" if it was made by Ruger and/or available. Please let me know if anyone has info on such a beast. And, if you are really lucky, you might be able to find an older Ruger Speed Six. If I was ever going to have a concealed carry piece, this would be it... In particular, I would love to get my hands on a NIB rare stainless one made for the postal service with a 3" barrel in .357. They are extremeley tough and quite accurate, and versatile, although the sights are not changeable. For home defense, though, I would get a longer barreled revolver, such as the GP100 that has less muzzle flash., and I would outfit it with at least a front blade night sight. I don't think the Ruger GP-100 comes in a 7-shot, but the S&W 686 and some Taurus models do. That might be a consideration for home defense.
  24. My guess is that it will be a variant of the new FNH FNS... maybe an FNS-40 or an FNS-45. I wouldn't discount some variant of the Beretta Storm, either. I think the best choice would be a Glock 22 or 23 GEN 4 or 5 w/ a thumb safety... perhaps the GI-lock!
