  1. I second The Law Of Self Defense! It's in the third edition. My companion book for that is Massad Ayoob; Deadly Force - Understanding Your Right To Self-Defense Ayoob discusses a number of trials including George Zimmerman to present how the legal system actually works. And last but not least You Have The Right To Remain Innocent by James Duane. Possibly the most valuable $5 you will ever spend. He also talks about this subject on YouTube. (And he's faster than a TV talking head.) When I introduce anyone to firearms and they tell me they intend to use them for self defense I recommend this trilogy. What happens to you at a trial can be much worse than what happens during a shooting.
  2. Well if I have nothing better to do maybe I'll take the CICS Tutorial. There's a lot of buzzwords I'd almost mentally erased. The last company I worked for directly in the 90's wanted to replace their mainframe based customer service system. It was supposed to be a 'client/server system based on Unix, Oracle and OO language capability'. After the contract was signed... The vendor: "We can't guarantee the C/S system will work." Bwuhahahaha! It ended up as legacy RPG on an AS400 with a DB2 backend. Definitely ready for the turn of the millennium!
  3. An Important Hebrew Lesson: Written across the wall of the cave were the following symbols: It was considered a unique find and the writings were said to be at least 3,000 years old! The piece of stone was removed, brought to the museum, and archaeologists from around the world came to study the ancient symbols. They held a huge meeting after months of conferences to discuss the meaning of the markings. The president of the society pointed to first drawing and said: "This is a woman. We can see these people held women in high esteem. You can also tell they were intelligent, as the next symbol is a donkey, so they were smart enough to have animals help them till the soil. The next drawing is a shovel, which means they had tools to help them. Even further proof of their high intelligence is the fish which means that during a famine, they seek food from the sea. The last symbol appears to be the Star of David which means they were evidently Hebrews." The audience applauded enthusiastically. Then an old Jewish man stood up in the back of the room and said: "Idiots... Hebrew is read from right to left... It says: 'Holy mackerel, dig the ass on that chick."
  4. That's what I said in summer 2012. Although Flit Romney is no Donald Trump.
  5. If you bought a thousand round case of this for $200, you hit the jackpot. That's 75% off!
  6. I placed an order at TSUSA for identical product on February 21, and then again on April 22. Aside from the huge shipping delay the price went up 13.1% Looking at the timing of the (hopefully) 'end' of the virus peak, but given that we're heading into an uncertain November election I don't see this shortage getting any better. The closer we get to the election those who don't think they have enough, or those who hoard, will keep buying up what's out there. And if somehow Biden (or his replacement) gets elected all bets are off. The gun market will evaporate as well.
  7. I was browsing around this afternoon trying to locate some ammo for a friend when I came across this page at AmmoSeek.com. It sounds worse than I even thought. What I saw this afternoon (or should I say didn't see) seems to bear that out. Also, I noticed AmmoSeek has redesigned their website. Seems to work pretty well. I used to use it all the time before the low price glut hit about what, two-three years ago? But when the glut was on no searching around was really necessary.
  8. Stress Management In case you are having a rough day, here's a stress management technique that has been recommended in all the latest psychological journals. The funny thing is that it really does work and will make you smile. 1. Picture yourself lying on your belly on a warm rock that hangs out over a crystal clear stream. 2. Picture yourself with both your hands in the cool running water. 3. Birds are sweetly singing in the cool mountain air. 4. No one knows your secret place. 5. You are in total seclusion from that hectic place called the World. 6. The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with a cascade of serenity. 7. The water is so clear you can make out the face of the Democrat you are holding underwater. See, it worked. You're smiling. You feel better already.
  9. Over one million kegs of draft beer could go to waste! I have personally volunteered all my available isolation time to prevent this from happening. I'm now busy lining up my PPE.
  10. "The rule here is total silence. We make no pretence of rehabilitation here. We're not priests, we're processors. A meat packer processes live animals into edible meat. We process dangerous men into harmless ones. This we accomplish by breaking you. Breaking you physically, spiritually and here. Strange things happen to the head here. Put all hope out of your mind, and masturbate as little as possible. It drains the strength." The Warden at Reclusion, Papillon
  11. Replace those two spritzers with a keg of Yuengling and I'm good to go.
  12. A friend of mine constantly sends me animal videos. Lots of cute or funny ones. Cat videos of course. OK, I get it... Animals are great! But this one really caught me. It's an hawk's eye view of a 2,000+ foot drop while the hawk tries to locate his handler in the middle of an urban sprawl. This video is from start to finish with the actual flight portion edited. The linked video at the bottom is the unedited flight portion. Watch how when he finally spots his handler it's a nose dive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=um8M9azpmb4
  13. @Zeke If you go to the State Level Estimates section, they included other data besides background checks. But certainly this report is a 'model' that draws conclusions. And as such leaves a lot of room variance. As we have recently seen! Family heirlooms, undocumented transfers (both legal and illegal), everything bought prior to 1980... all up for grabs. Also, if/when surveyed, how many gunowners prefer to remain anonymous? Personally I only read the report for state comparisons, not absolute levels.
  14. The Rand Corporation has released a report on gun ownership in America. It reports on ownership as a percentage of population basis, and also tracks the ownership percentage from 1980 through 2016. NJ and HI are tied at the bottom around 8%. Montana is alone at the top at 64%.
  15. @matty The home route will most definitely strain all those involved. Some time in the future, all those involved will know it was worth the effort, will be glad they did it, and derive comfort equivalent to their sorrow. I speak from direct experience. Do what you must. I am not a particularly religious man, but God bless you sir.
  16. The Heritage Foundation has a project that includes an interactive map to track defensive gun use in the 50 U.S. states. The individual incidents also report available details. So far in 2020 they've recorded 155 incidents.
  17. Hey... hey... hey. At least I knew it was March.
  18. My NICS check was submitted Friday 4/17 and was approved by Monday 4/1920 mid afternoon.
  19. You're isolated at home. Someone in the household is infected. You want to stay safe, but you want to drink. What do you do?
  20. I just heard on Fox Business that the storage rate for oil on tankers at sea has gone up five fold. If anyone needs ammo storage let me know. My rates are considerably cheaper.
