  1. If you mean our Food Saver, we've been doing that for years. BTW, for those interested. Buy a long roll of foodsaver bags. Cut to a necessary length. Coat a firearm with appropriate long term storage material. Place in the bag. Position thin foam material on any sharp corners to prevent tearing. Now suck and seal it closed. Voila! Long term storage. Works for accessories like magazines too.
  2. ATF Rule 2010-6 states that you can have residences in several states and buy firearms in each if you observe any additional state requirements. (And we're not referring to your one state of domicile.) If you purchase a firearm legally in another state there is no NJ requirement to have an FID to possess a firearm in your residence or transport it to any other permitted location like a range or FFL, if you observe the transport requirements. If I were an FL resident I would want to read the relevant statutes or talk to a firearms attorney to make sure I was getting accurate information. Why? If I asked a hundred PA FFLs if I can buy firearms in PA with a NJ DL a substantial number will say 'No'. And they will mean 'No you can't legally do that', not 'No, you can legally do that but we don't want to do it'. And if I ask a random sheriff's deputy if I can have a resident PA LTCF without a PA DL, a substantial number will say 'No'. I've had more than one say that to me. I have a resident PA LTCF and I buy and possess firearms in both states according to the federal and state requirements, and I transport them freely between both. Observing of course, in the case of NJ, that firearms I bring here are NJ legal. Good luck with your exploration.
  3. So when you buy a firearm in FL and fill out the 4473 Florida law demands that you use a FL driver's license for identification? Also, does FL make you fill out any additional forms like our P2P for handguns?
  4. You both are conflating domicile and residence. You can only have one state of domicile, but you can have many states of residence. My domicile is NJ. My states of residence are NJ and PA. I have homes and buy firearms in both. And transport freely between them.
  5. I think that link is malformed. It just ends up at the forum home page.
  6. I'm not a lawyer. But if you legally purchase a firearm in FL you can bring it to a second residence you own or rent here in NJ. If you don't own or rent where you're staying in NJ, it's not your residence and you can't legally keep the firearm there. If you do transport it to NJ be sure to adhere to the transportation laws.
  7. The issue date is the only date box. In the permit title bar it states: "Permit valid for ninety days from date of issuance unless renewed pursuant to Section 2A: 15136 of the New Jersey Statutes". Now that I'm thinking about this, I think the deal was to take the permit back to the issuing PD and they would mark up the permit somehow to indicate the renewal date.
  8. OK. So I infer from your post there was a 90 day limit when the big package was passed in the late 60's; the expiration date was not specified on the permit. Is that correct? And if that's true, do you know when the 180 day extension was invented?
  9. Here's another related tidbit. This thread prompted me to go back and look at my next two purchases. A Colt Government 45 and a S&W Model 29. You know what I noticed? My pistol permits from '78-'80 had no expiration date! So I'm wondering now when expiration dates were mandated. If P2Ps were good indefinitely that would save a lot of administrative crap.
  10. Uh oh. This could be trouble. While looking through all the DVDs left by my mother at our house I just came across an un-opened copy of "The Thorn Birds".
  11. I'm no metals trading expert, but since I have some gold investments I do follow the price and trading reports. According to this report, at the moment Comex can't come up with a 400 oz. gold bar. Here's the gist of it: "So what does all of this mean? Is there not even one vaulted 400 oz gold bar in the whole of New York? Why is COMEX rushing in a new contract deliverable in 400 oz gold bars when it is reporting that there are zero 400 oz gold bars in its approved vaults. Is this all just a smoke and mirrors exercise with the bullion bankers in London and New York laughing over champagne as mainstream new reports claim the very same bankers are scrambling to charter private jets laden with gold bars from London to New York? And finally, are JP Morgan vault staff currently scrambling to rush 400 oz gold bars across the tunnel between the NY Fed gold vault and Chase Manhattan gold vault under Liberty Street in southern Manhattan? Inquiring minds would like to know." Could it be someone is anticipating a problem with the U.S. dollar? Especially now that Trump and some members of Congress are talking about ANOTHER $2,000 Billion 'stimulus' bill? Hat tip to Zero Hedge for the isotope nomenclature.
  12. Well I remember Ray's too. I'm sure I bought the Python at Edelman's, so I just looked at the P2P. It was their store on Route 46 in Wayne. I confused the Ray's location with Edelman's. I have to credit the salesman for steering me to it. I knew very little about guns at that time, and bought the first one to find out why I was so afraid of them, and if the fear was justified. It was a 'factory tuned' version that received a little extra attention and cost me around $400 in 1978. I thought that was really expensive (especially considering my weekly salary at the time) but I thought the revolver was beautiful and the trigger was smooth as butter. (Little did I know!) The rest, as they say, was history.
  13. Ah, Leslie Edelman's Route 22 Watchung (or thereabouts). Where I bought my very first firearm. 6" Blue Steel Factory Tuned Colt Python. Still glad I listened to the salesman!
  14. Oh, OK. Now, in addition to the Tueller Drill we're going to have the Corona Drill.
  15. I came across this data study from Ammo.com this morning. They published consumption figures by state up through March 27. Texas gets the first place award. BTW, in 9mm still only Gold Dot and Federal HST in stock at TargetSportsUSA, and at the usual prices.
  16. The LA County Sheriff has given up too and opened the gun shops in the county.

  18. OK, you are correct. I just tested it and got the same error when submitting. That was not the case when I submitted my complaint. When I tested it before I did not actually submit something; just check that the page was valid. Now get this. I went to the IT contact page, filled out the form and specified the page failure, and when I hit the "Contact Us!" button to submit it I got: 404 Error That page doesn't exist! They must have shut down all the contact pages. Maybe they've been overwhelmed with all of it, not just the firearm complaints.
