  1. I've used the ghost 3.5 connector, ext slide release, and bid dot sights on my Gen 4 G19. I like the connector. I no longer use the ext slide rel as I now try to always rack the slide. I'm still not sure about the big dot sight. I think next time I'll go with the HD night sites. I'm also interested in anyone's take on grip mods you have tried. I'm looking at the 360 texture with a reduced grip minus finger groves and with an undercut trigger guard. Cost around $200 and not having the chance to try it first makes that a hard pill to swallow without some helpful recommendations.
  2. I believe TX recently reduced the training requirement by half. It is now down to a single day course (less then 6 hours)
  3. Also planning to leave ASAP. Come to think of it...a one-way ticket to TX should be about half the price of a round trip....hum...
  4. This may prove true so there is still one statute that she can't unilaterally change.....Open Carry outside of Philly.
  5. I just looked into the TX CHL and the class must be completed in TX. The cost is $140 unless you qualify for a discount (military is free). Classes are 4-6 hrs and include a 50 question test and a 50 round shooting qualification. I see classes from $50. http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/RSD/CHL/faqs/index.htm At this time it looks like the TX CHL is the only option for a NJ resident to conceal carry in PA. If NH ever changes their law to again allow NJ residents without a NJ CCW to obtain a NH CCW then this too would work for PA.
  6. After further review of the handgunlaw.us site it would appear that a TX non-res would be another way to go. I believe you have to take the class in TX. I think they have recently relaxed the class requirements, but I also believe it is still around two days to complete.
  7. Well, as long as you are not in a vehicle or in Philly you can Open Carry. So you could lock it up in the car and then open carry once you leave your car outside of Philly. I'm sure PA would love to see more of this as a result of their change in the UTAH permit. Here is more info. http://www.opencarry.org/?page_id=292
  8. Okay, thanks I'll have to take a look.
  9. Nice knife. I've been carrying the same one for a few months now and I'm very happy with it. Where did you find the deep pocket clip for it? As for the other item, I'm with the others. I've never even seen such a thing. Maybe that means I too am entering the "old guy" realm. Well, that and my 1911 carry habit.
  10. I have both the 3 and 4. I think the 4 is too large for EDC, but everyone is different. I find the 3 or even the izula to be much more comfortable for EDC use. The esse 4 is great for hiking ect, if you can take the weight. Great knifes all around, but not light weight.
  11. 3:54-4.2 Registration required No person shall manufacture or sell at wholesale any firearm or part of a firearm unless he has been registered by the Superintendent under the provisions of this chapter. This is where I believe NJ Law states you need 'permission' to make a firearm. Sad, but this is NJ.
  12. I agree with all except the part about needing an ATF mfg lic. I believe anyone can make a gun, including a handgun, for their own use without any federal issues. There is the pesky NJ law requiring a lic as noted before though. If I have this wrong can someone explain where this requirement is written? OP I understand what and why you are asking, it sounds like it could be fun, don't let others discourage you as long as you can stay within the laws. Might be best to move to a free state first though.
  13. I too am looking for this work to be done, but I'm down in South Jersey. Anyone have suggestions? I have gone to PK90 in the past, but he broke free already. I also know about Bangers. Any other options? I would use Bangers, but their gunsmith is out this week and I would like to get this done soon.
  14. MidwestPX, thanks for the reply. I'm surprised no one else has any thoughts or inputs. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. I'm finishing a new 300 BLK upper and I still need a BCG. I have used both the Fail Zero and WMD with great results. Now I'm torn between a Rainier Precision NiB BCG and another WMD BCG. Any thoughts?
  16. I also found this tread to be very useful in builds. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_4/226782_Assemble_your_own_LOWER__UPPER__FREE_FLOAT__TRIGGER__GAS_BLOCK___Step_by_step_instructions_.html Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. I would also consider an upper receiver block to hold the receiver as you torque the barrel on. I have this one, but there are others that I'm sure work just as well. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/730930/dpms-upper-receiver-action-block-ar-15-delrin?cm_vc=ProductFinding Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. I am not sure what the difference is in the CL and SS. I should have asked on the phone, but I could tell she was busy and I did not want to take too much of her time. My guess would be it may have to do with the size of the gas port. Since I went with the SS, it should not be a factor. I also have not seen any of these in CL anyway (even back ordered).
  19. I finally tracked down a 14.5" Noveske 300BLK barrel. I called Noveske and learned that the last shipment went out 2-3 weeks ago to Curt's Discount Shooter's Supply in Portland, OR. I called Curt at 503-819-5881 and was told it will be in the mail today. I asked about others and learned that he still has a couple 16" barrels if anyone else is interested, but unfortunately he only had the one 14.5". Pricing was normal, and shipping was only $10. With regard to the Noveske 14.5" barrels I learned (from Tanya at Noveske) that the SS barrels are good to go with Super or Subsonic unsurpressed however the CL barrels will not cycle subs without a can. As far as the next shipment of 14.5" Tanya says to try calling back in a month or so and she can pass an update. She is planning on the next shipment going to Rainier, DSG, and one other I don't recall. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. OP, As for people asking question at the range, I have not had any problems at SJSC. If I were to catch any grief I would simply state that they are 15 round magazines and leave it at that. After all, it may just be someone who is trying to be helpful. I have found that most of the people I have run into in southern NJ understand the common modification of 30 to 15 Pmags. Most important thing is to do your best to know what the law says and then do what you find comfortable. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. It needs to be "permanently modified" to hold no more then 15 rounds. What that means is up to you.....and the jury when you become the test case. I would feel comfortable with those from MidwestPX, Riflegear, and PK90. These are all quite popular and openly advertised for use in NJ.
  22. I'm interested in this also. I am leaning towards Noveske's 14.5" with pistol gas system, but they are back ordered everywhere I've seen. My guess is for supers you will be good to go with a 14.5" barrel with a carbine gas system. If you are buying from a reputable dealer then it is in their best interest to ensure their products work well. As such I would trust Rainier for this as one example. I do not have first hand experience just yet, but some day soon. Looking forward to others input on this one.
  23. I stand corrected. I'll look more at this as they seem very well made. ETA, I took a look at the AR15 MKM and they look very nice like most things by Mega, but I think I still like the VLTOR MUR with NSR rail more. They run about the same total price, but the NSR is about .25" or so thinner and 3-4 oz lighter. That being said, I have not had a chance to try out the Mega setup. I too look forward to hearing from anyone who has tried the MKM, especially if they can compare, contrast it with the MUR and NSR.
  24. I believe these are made for an AR-10 (.308) style firearm whereas 300 BLK is in line with the AR-15 (.223) style and sized firearms. Even if you could use the MKM it would be much heavier them it needs to be. Hope his helps.
  25. I'm still stuck looking at the pistol length 14.5" Noveske, but I sure would like to know of other good option in this realm. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
