  1. This is 3.5 years old, but I just found it. He's 6 years old and running a 1911 loke a boss.
  2. That's what I thought. The OP first said a 5 minute walk, which then morphed into a 16-mile trek.
  3. There is no such thing as "sensible/reasonable control." Any attempt to control people’s actions through control of the things that are used as implements to those actions is inherently both insensible and unreasonable. The only “sensible” thing is “sensible enforcement”. Enforce the 23,000 anti-gun laws that are already on the books sensibly. By that, I mean: prosecute criminals for illegal possession/use of firearms, do not persecute non-criminals for failing to navigate the labyrinth of gun laws. Or, more simply: How’s come a gang banger in Camden is not worried about being caught with an illegally-possessed handgun on the sidewalk in front of a school, but normal law-abiding citizens are afraid of getting sent to prison for 7 years for the slightest screw-up on the way to the range?
  4. IMHO, it would probably be much easier to lean to shoot left-handed than to change your eye. My son is cross dominant and we worked on him using various theories for quite some time. In the end, he just learned to shoot left handed and he is doing fine.
  5. I think it might be the revolver load vs. cartridge pistol load. Revolver loads have more powder to burn than cartridge pistol loads, so therefore they produce more combustion byproducts.
  6. OK, from right to left along the pistol shelf in the ammo cabinet: .380 (wife's) 9mm x 3 .45acp x 3 .38 special (wife's) .357 magnum My next handgun will probably be a .44 magnum. I also have a .22LR pistol for the kids to shoot.
  7. Back in 2009, I wrote the 3 Republicans on our township committee and got a great response. I even got a note from the mayor. Many times, the township administration just presumes the Chief is doing his job. When they find out that the Chief is jerking around with citizens' rights, they pay closer attention.
  8. Here is the way I look at it: if you are just walking down the street carying a pistol in you backpack (a pistol in your backpack and a rifle case on your shoulder, that's a different story), who is going to know?. 99.9% chance you could do this every weekend for 10 years and never have an encounter with a LEO. Even if a LEO sees you walking out of the range, he still needs probable cause to search your backpack. IMHO, if you do have an encounter with LEO, you will have a very bad day. This is certainly good for a free ride in a police car (at the very least) because they will probably want to hold you until the determine you are not a prohibited person. I am pretty confident that no laws are being broke, so in the end you probably will not be charged with anything. However, this is NJ. Make sure you have your NJDL and your range ID with you. Your FPID (while not required by any law) might also help to put the LEO at ease.
  9. Mayor Bloomberg's worst nightmare,
  10. The Obummer promised to address every petition that received 10,000 signature personally. So, if it reaches 10,000 votes and he fails to address this, then media outlets not under his control will have something to make hay with.
  11. What?!?! Freedom of speech?!?! He was using the mag as a prop to elicit an emotional response from his audience; essentially, brandishing it. It served no purpose to the interview. No protection from Freedom of the Press either.
  12. I believe he identified it as a 30-round. So, he was either lying to the viewing public or committing a fellony. I think we should start a petition to prosecute Feinstein for standing in front of the press pointing her so-called assault rifles at people. She is guilty of multiple counts of both possession of an assault weapon and brandishing.
  13. Sign up and share with everyone you know. https://petitions.wh...gazine/gMNRPpPl David Gregory used a 30 round mag as a prop to challenge the NRA's position on mag capacity. Possessing a 30-round mag in DC is a fealony. Why is he not being prosecuted? ETA: What would happen to one of us if we were seen on TV with a 30-cap?
  14. They are not talking about the $4MM each drones used by the USAF. The ones in the clip are mostly small drones that are piloted similar to model airplanes. $200,000 x 30,000 is only $6B. And it is over a long period of time. DHS could easily have a $600M in their budget per year over 10 years. 30,000 may seem like a huge number until you think about how many law enforcement departments and agencies we have only here in the State of NJ. E.g., imagine how many K9 units are in the US. Supposidly, this has been going on since 2010.
  15. I am taking up Trap & Skeet. Need to learn new skills.
  16. This is Un-F*cking believable!! And we just sit back and let the police state evolve around us.
  17. Where can someone find out if this is really true? Is the Department of Homeland Security really issueing grants to fund the acquisition of drowns by local PD's? There is so much tinfoil-hat crap on Youtube, you can't trust anything. But this seems to have some credibility. http://youtu.be/iIPFkJtOO10
  18. If I were a physically-fit former bouncer and knew how to disable someone like that, sure. But, I am a 5'-10" overweight software professional. I'm thinking shotgun 100%.
  19. First thing I saw when I sat down at the computer this morning was the article about the IL State Senator who got pinched at the airport with a peashooter CCW piece. Of course, I had to share the article on Facebook. I mean, that is information that my 142 FB friends need to know! My wife's first post of the day was to share picture of one of her friend's cat in their Christmas tree. So far, no one has liked or said a word about my post. My wife's post has triggered a 50-comment discussion about cats in Christmas trees.
  20. Le'me fix it for you My wife don't give two shakes agout voting. We've been married 18 years and I helped her fill out her first registration form this year so she could vote against the Obama. Le'me reiterate: it fricken took OBAMA to make this woman realize that she had to vote. Now, if you want to see an activist... suggest that the local Nordstoms is closing. Now THAT would be some serious sh!t.
  21. I feel the same way Dave. But sadly I sense that we actually may be the minority here. Maybe we need group therapy.
  22. Thank you Lalo. My wife is actually unaware that "hot young women with guns" is actually not a subcategory of guns, but is in fact a splendid blending of guns with fantasiful recollections of exploits from my younger years.
