Gov. Christie will appear on NJ 101.5's Ask the Governor tonight at 7pm. I think this would be a good opportunity to bring up some firearms related questions. I think this needs to be done carefully. Welcome! I have a remington 870. It is my home defense gun. I love it. Extremely easy to use and simple to operate. For a handgun, take a look at a simple 9mm. I, like many around the state, have been stocking up on lowers for a couple months. My question is, let's say the feds or NJ passes an AWB that changes our rule from 2 "evil features" to 1. If I already have an AR lower in my safe, can I still build out a rifle to current laws rather than new laws? I better way of phrasing the question is, must a rifle be completed to be included in an grandfathering? Welcome! If you want an ar, I'd focus on getting a stripped lower if funds are tight. At least that guarantees that you'll have a rifle at some point. I bought 2.now just waiting on other parts to get off backorder. Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

I'd also love to see some guidance on writing letters to our legislators. Maybe some key points we need to drive home. I wrote to my locals as well as the politicritters in Washington. 18-year-old man was arrested tonight after stabbing a woman 12 times inside the Middletown Bed Bath and Beyond. This man was apparently the same man that set a cat on fire inside of its carrier using an Aerosol can and a lighter on Christmas eve. He was arrested and later released. What are we going to blame? The easy availability of knives aerosol cans and matches? Or are we finally going to start blaming our failed mental health system that allows someone like this to be out in the streets? An AWB and magazine limits will do NOTHING, to save lives. If someone has set in their mind to carry out an act of unspeakable evil, a few less rounds in the mag won't stop them. That's IF they even acknowledge the law in the first place. Where there's a will there's a way. You and the rest of those preaching and praising gun control are missing the boat.... There are sick, sick people out there. Mentally ill people who display signs of violence and aggression because they are sick. And we as a nation, treat them like a number and bounce them around. They are a ticking time bomb. You want to save lives?? Stop the violence?? Legislate some real changes to our mental health system. Find a way to identify who they are and get these people committed or into programs where they will pose no threat to the public. Also keep criminals in jail. Don't maintain a catch and release program like most states do. Making me and the rest of my law-abiding friends on this forum into criminals for having a pistol grip on my target rifle is not the way to stop this. The line is drawn here. We will not give in. So I posted a video on my Facebook page about NY Sen. Greg Ball's comments during last night's debate about the NY civilian disarmament law. This is one of the responses I got. "Considering there are so many people that are mentally unstable in the US at the moment from recession effects, I support this ban 100%. The government has every right to initiate an act against this due to the fact that the 2nd amendment purpose was to raise Militias not for citizens under every day conditions to bare arms, especially assault weapons...the issue is people need more education in history then they'll understand the true context of the United States..." These are the type of people that make up the percentage of numbers the media is reporting as "for gun ban" I promptly explained to this woman in a calm manner what the second amendment was really designed to do and backed that up with the supreme court rulings. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. The state of New York just wiped their arses with the bill of rights. All for what?! A governor with aspirations of becoming president. They saved no lives last night folks. They did, however, trample all over the rights that are protected by the United States Constitution!! They crammed this through in the middle of the night, waived a 3 day waiting period and made it effective immediately. They even acknowledged that No one got time to read the thing and that it was full of errors that would need to be corrected at a later date.
