  1. I shot mine last night for the first time. PSA lower, PSA MOE lower build kit, PSA 16" SGS12 Madness upper and a YM Chrome BCG. Not one jam, misfeed or problem of any kind. The only thing I did before shooting it was lube the BCG and charging handle with balistol. I'm at my apartment in PA during the week so I was at the Easton Heritage Guild which is an indoor range, only 15 yards, but the range officer taught me how to zero my red dot. A blast to shoot an almost all PSA AR-15. Plus I got to "adjust" my stock and use 30 round mags Also, the walmart here has had American Eagle .223 in stock for the last few days. $8.07/20 3 box limit but I've been going 2x day. MC
  2. Good post. I did exactly that and piece by piece I got what I wanted from where I wanted it without overpaying. Things pop in stock, you get your order in if you're lucky, and you wait 3 weeks for most of the companies to ship, but I've got my lower, my lower build kit, a match grade fully chromed bcg, a bravo company charging handle and non-rotational pin kit for my fcg all in hand, my upper is ordered and should be coming from PSA any day. I also have a vortex strikefire, some pin punches, and a magwell vise block coming from Amazon in the next day or two so I'm planning on building the lower Monday or Tuesday night after work. I've also got a backorder for brownell's magazines. Now I just need some ammo. There are threads for those on arfcom too. Just be patient and use those arfcom threads. MC
  3. If you got an order confirmation e-mail, then you will most likely get your order. I have placed a few orders from them since the beginning of the year, and like their site says they take 15 business days to ship. My MOE lower build kit I ordered on the 3rd came Monday. My PSA M4 SS12G2 Premium - 16'' CMV CL Stripped Railed Upper I ordered on the 13th is "in manufacturing" and I expect it to ship any day now. PSA is gtg. They have a thread on arfcom where you can post your order number for status, but people will bash you if you don't wait 15 biz days from order date. MC
  4. I've only read that they were all the rage before the pmag came out and now everyone calls thermold crap because pmags are so much better. They're cheap that's for sure, I was thinking of grabbing a few to hold me over until pmags are available again. Right now i've got just about everything to build my AR except mags and an optic. MC
  5. Here's my AR build so far. I physically have nothing in hand, though Mastodon has the lower and is waiting for NICS to come back. Everything was ordered as in-stock so I'm just waiting for all these places to ship.
  6. I would agree with you but if they send 100 or 1000 of them to brownell's, and brownell's puts them online, some guy will buy 90% of them and then sell them on gunbroker for 2.5x msrp before the rest of us realize we could have had them. It would take a monumental effort on the part of the manufacturers AND the dealers to agree to fill the POs and then have the dealers put max quantity limits on the purchase quantities, but why would they it's easier to fill 1 order than 100. Don't get me wrong, I'm on your side, I work for a company that manufactures marine equipment and our products are unique and availability is limited by what we can physically manufacture as a small company and we understand the importance of fulfilling our dealers orders despite the temptation of greater profit margin from direct sales, but if they (I still won't say it but somebody who's not me blew it up on arfcom and their phones are ringing off the hook) was willing to take my call, and sell to me direct something I would not otherwise be likely to get, I'm not going to say no. Now I paid MSRP for their match grade chrome full auto bcg, but I would've paid that same price anywhere, and she either said it would ship by the end of the week or I'd have it by the end of the week. And by the way MidwestPX, you're very cool here in the forums, and if the climate didn't have me buying every piece of an AR from a different shop just to get what I need, without getting gouged, without getting shut out of a part, I'd totally buy from you. Hopefully when things settle down... I could sure use some 30 rnd pmags shipped to my PA apartment. Thanks! MC
  7. So after following the arfcom bcg thread for like 2 weeks and not getting one (you have to be awake at 3:47am and they're gone in 2 minutes), I did place an order with Chattahoochie Gun Works who's site listed them in stock. It charged my paypal. I emailed them, they said nope, not in stock and told me to just cancel the order in paypal which I did. Not saying they did anything shady but they could've listed them as out of stock properly. Then I figured wth and e-mailed the manufacturer (a well known BCG maker) and said hey, I had an order, but it wasn't in stock and paypal blah blah blah boo hoo poor me, and they said they'll have some in stock later this week. I assume they are intended to go to distributors, but she said she'd sell me one directly so problem solved it would seem. She charged me MSRP which is totally fine, it means I paid the same thing I would've from a dealer, and they made more margin so we're both happy in theory. MC
  8. So if there's a part we overpay for on gunbroker or whatever, that should be the part? You don't think they'll come back on the market in the next month or so? MC
  9. I just need a BCG to finish my AR but people are just buying them up and gouging for them on ebay and gunbroker. Hope it all eases soon. MC
  10. Keep us posted, all I need is a BCG and a charging handle for my build. Thanks! MC
  11. The exact upper I wanted popped in stock at PSA. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/complete-uppers/m4-ss12g2-16-cmv-chrome-lined-stripped-railed-upper-without-bcg-or-charging-handle.html Having it shipped to my office in PA, and the gun will stay in my PA apartment so should be ok. Will be a PA resident by summer, once I find a house and move my family out there. Now I just need a BCG and charging handle. MC
  12. My New Frontier poly lower shipped, I've got a tracking # and it should be at Mastodon by like next Wednesday. I ordered the PSA complete kit with LPK, buffer tube and Magpul MOE stock and pistol grip. The only place that seems to have uppers "in-stock" is rguns.net and they're fairly reasonable considering the climate. Reviews are mixed though so I'm waiting at least until I have all the lower stuff in hand to see what is or isn't available. Funny how the possible ban and run on all things guns has got so many of us building our first AR. MC
  13. I ordered one of these the day they came in stock. It's still order pending but I"m sure I'll get it eventually. MC
  14. Well I've got an NF stripped lower on the way (shipped yesterday) and the PSA MOE lower finishing kit ordered as well. We'll see how well it all goes together once it's in my possession. Hopefully by then an upper in my price range and desired config will be available somewhere. I'll be keeping it in my apartment in PA and I have the 10 pack of pmags backorder at Brownell's too. 15. Just got an e-mail from them that they have my order but needed my ffl info, even though Masodon's info is on the order confirmation I got from them. Anyway I replied within like 2 seconds, hopefully they'll get it shipped out soon and I'll get a call from Joe or Nick MC
